    • 90+3' FULL TIME! CITY HAVE DONE IT! Win against QPR, and they will surely be champions. Newcastle were brave, but ultimately second-best. Manchester United must now beat Swansea to keep in touch, but City in control.
    • 90+2' City sitting deep, happy to look to hit on the break. Aguero's run ended by Coloccini.
    • 90+1' Three minutes of stoppage time to play.
    • 90' HART MAKES A FANTASTIC SAVE! Ba almost pulls one back with a vicious low shot - once again, the England goalkeeper was there and ready.
    • 89' GOAL FOR CITY! ALL OVER! TOURE AGAIN! A breakwawy which ends with Clichy picking out Toure, who beats Krul at the near post. That will do!
    • 88' Very close - it struck his hands, but as Richards clearly had his hands behind his back there was little he could have done.
    • 87' AMEOBI CLOSE! He wants a handball as Richards blocks the shot!
    • 86' Head tennis in the area - Ba, Cisse and Ameobi involved, nobody could get the attempt on goal away....
    • 85' Final change for City - Silva off, Richards on. Mancini suring things up defensively...
    • 84' City have had their chances to wrap this up, but they haven't taken them. Aguero and Toure have let the best chances go. Will it come back to haunt them?
    • 83' TOURE MISSES! ANOTHER HUGE CHANCE! Aguero plays him through with a killer pass, Toure left one-on-one with Krul, who stands his ground and Toure slips at the crucial moment. Even then it looks as if it can be salvaged, but Aguero lofts the follow-up over.
    • 82' Final Newcastle roll of the dice - Ryan Taylor replaces Tiote.
    • 82' TOURE CLOSE! Could have been his second, but he can only glance Silva's delivery beyond the far post.
    • 81' Set piece chance for Silva now, right on the flank.
    • 80' Silva thumps the ball clear, and this time Ferguson is carded for trying to block it and bringing the Spaniard down far too late.
    • 79' Yellow for Zabaleta, who scythes down Ferguson after the youngster beat him down the wing. Impressive play from the substitute, useful set piece for the Magpies.
    • 79' CISSE CLOSE! Coloccini to Ameobi, a chipped cross to the striker at the near post, but Cisse cannot quite turn it goalwards. Newcastle on the front foot nonetheless.
    • 78' City have some defending to do now - first they clear the corner, then Kompany intercepts a through ball down the left from Santon.
    • 77' Hart struggles to punch away Santon's loopy cross - Ferguson picks up the ball on the left and wins his side a corner.
    • 76' Manchester City have won all 4 Premier League away matches in which they scored the opening goal this calendar year. The only home teams to come back after conceding first vs Man City this season were Fulham, Liverpool and Chelsea (Infostrada)
    • 75' HOW DID AGUERO MISS?! Incredible - a sensational pass from Silva over the top, Aguero beats the offside trap, but his one-on-one finish against Krul rolls an inch wide of the post. That could have wrapped things up - but Newcastle survive.
    • 74' Twin change for Newcastle - Shola Ameobi for Ben Arfa, Shane Ferguson replaces Perch.
    • 73' Dzeko does well to get past Perch on the diagonal ball, but his volleyed shot doesn't live up to the approach play.
    • 72' Newcastle would now end the day fifth in the table if other results stay this way - they have to push forward now and look for an equaliser.
    • 71' That's the goal City need - if it stays like this, they'd be top of the division tonight with one game left to play - against relegation-threatened QPR at home. It was a terrific finish from Toure, who's been good all game.
    • 70' GOAL! YAYA TOURE SCORES A STUNNER! Wonderful finish from the Ivorian after some interplay with De Jong and Aguero, stroked in from just outside the penalty area!
    • 70' City change - Tevez off, Dzeko on.
    • 69' Mancini said the Newcastle game would be harder than Manchester United at home - it's certainly been tough.
    • 68' Zabaleta tries to hook a cross back into the area - or was it a shot? Either way, it was harmless. City lining up another change - Dzeko to come on. Who will he replace?
    • 67' Cabaye and Tiote combine, but cannot force a scoring chance. Newcastle very much a threat, City still probing.
    • 66' When the ball comes back in to the Newcastle penalty area Lescott fouls Krul and the pressure on the home side is released.
    • 65' City come up for a corner, but Cisse clears it from the near post.
    • 64' Gutierrez to Ba, onto Ben Arfa - can he make room for the shot? HE CAN - but his effort at the near post flashes wide. Moments before City had a muted penalty shout - it's all to play for.
    • 63' The situation is simple: City have 27 minutes left to win this game, or the title race is back in Manchester United's hands. As for Newcastle, Tottenham are down at Villa at present, so if (big if) things stayed as they were, they'd end the day fourth and in control of their destiny.
    • 62' Nasri off, De Jong on. Round of boos from the Toon faithful - it was De Jong's challenge which broke Ben Arfa's leg last season.
    • 61' Chipped pass for Tevez comes over the top from Toure, but it's overhit. Looks like we're going to see the first change of the afternoon.
    • 60' More flashy skills from Ben Arfa, only for him to get the ball tangled up under his feet as he tries a stepover. Chance gone for Magpies.
    • 59' Ba juggles the ball before trying a through pass for Cisse, but to the Senegal striker's frustration the pass is behind him rather than into the space. Lovely skills from him before, though.
    • 58' Perch unusually far forward, and his delivery into the middle is a disappointment. Too low, easily blocked. Silva leads the City charge.
    • 57' Ben Arfa has to play the ball back to Tiote after trying to find some room on the right. Tiote heaves the ball into the box and it's simple for City to clear.
    • 56' Mancini looking a little more tetchy than he did in the first half. He's sat down, hands in pockets, leg shaking, waiting for City to break the deadlock. All three substitutes available to him.
    • 55' Lovely ball from Ben Arfa to Cabaye on the right - needed an equally brilliant ball to pick out Cisse ahead of him, but it didn't come. City just shading the second half at the moment.
    • 54' HALF-CHANCE FOR TEVEZ! It was a scrappy passage of play, with Newcastle unable to clear their lines and Toure eventually spooning the ball out for Tevez, but he snatched at the shot and ended up putting it high and wide.
    • 53' And a stat to give Newcastle fans hope: Manchester City have won only one of their last seven Premier League away matches when they have failed to score in the first half – 1-0 at Aston Villa on February 12 (Infostrada)
    • 52' A stat to give City fans hope: Manchester City have scored 59 of their 88 Premier League goals this season after half-time (63%) (Infostrada)
    • 51' Oh dear, Yaya - that had a bit of curl but it was about 10 yards too high and Krul didn't have to do a thing.
    • 50' This game's lost some of the breakneck movements from one end of the pitch to the other for now, but there's still plenty of purpose to both sides. Perch gives away a free kick which Toure is going to shoot from.
    • 49' Remember, there's five other games LIVE in the Premier League at the moment - and there's been a goal at Aston Villa v Spurs which has implications for Newvcastle. Follow all six games LIVE
    • 48' Cabaye and Ba stroke some smooth passes to one another - the sort of deliberate build-up play that we didn't see too much of from Newcastle in the first half.
    • 47' No changes to report from either side - so will the game spark into life in the same way the first half ended?
    • 46' The second half begins - City kick off! A crucial half of football awaits us!
    • - Looking for something to fill your half-time break? Why not join me on Twitter @Mark_Eurosport and tell me what you thought of the first half, and how you think this game will turn out? Follow here
    • 45+1' HALF TIME: After a tantalising first half the final moments are played out quietly enough by Newcastle on the left. It's been fascinating but goal-less - and that favours neither side. All to play for after the break.
    • 45' One minute of stoppages to be played.
    • 45' Kompany stops Cisse from turning - twice. Superb defending from the City skipper, who has nullified Cisse in the first half.
    • 44' Ba catches Kompany in the face trying to flick on a high ball - Kompany not badly hurt, but his side have the free kick deep in their own half.
    • 43' Throw for Newcastle in an advanced position after a battle between Gutierrez and Zabaleta. But the hosts go backwards with it on this occasion.
    • 42' Barry had two efforts, both blocked - then he and Tevez looked like they might be still able to apply a finish. City break again, but Nasri penalised for handball.
    • 41' HUGE CHANCE FOR CITY! SANTON CLEARS IT OFF THE LINE! Barry had the shot and it looked for all the world as if City would go in front - but somehow - somehow - Newcastle scramble it away.
    • 40' CHANCE! Ben Arfa with the cross from the left, having beaten Zabaleta, and Ba's header loops over the top.
    • 39' Gutierrez wins a throw on the left after Nasri blocks his ambitious half-volley. This game warming up nicely now. It's got a bit of needle and it's getting very open.
    • 38' Lunging tackle with Toure, and though he got a bit of the ball he also appeared to get a bit of Cabaye. Another booking.
    • 37' Heart in the mouth moment for the home fans as Coloccini slips looking to block Zabaleta's cross - but Aguero and Tevez were ahead of their compatriot's cross, and there were no Manchester City players surging into the box.
    • 36' Booking for Perch as he clips Tevez. Needless, and three Magpies in Howard Webb's book already.
    • 35' Tasty-looking through ball from Cabaye - just a whisker beyond Cisse. The tide looks to be turning now...
    • 34' BIG SAVE FROM HART! Newcastle get into space through Gutierrez and have the best chance of the match. Ba first gets clear, his shot is blocked superbly by Clichy. It bounces to Ben Arfa who fires on target and Hart stops it!
    • 34' Well, I may have spoke too soon. Silva tries to clip the ball towards the far post, but nobody alert enough to get near it.
    • 33' As City race to the other end, Tiote is penalised for bringing down Silva with a yellow card. Another decent set piece opportunity 25 yards out. No Kolarov for City, but Silva and Tevez are hardly poor alternatives...
    • 32' Gutierrez breaks down the left, picks out Ba, who wriggles around Kompany and tries a shot from the edge of the area. Newcastle just starting to get forward a bit now.
    • 31' No joy for the Magpies - neither for Cabaye, whose free kick strikes the wall, nor for Tiote, whose rebound effort is also blocked.
    • 30' Yellow for Barry as Cisse is held back on another Newcastle break. Cabaye a long way out with the free kick but fancies a shot.
    • 29' CHANCE FOR NEWCASTLE! Ben Arfa magnifcent, surging through a near-impossible gap on the right flank and charging down the touchline. He picks out Ba, who's short on space but lashes a decent effort over the bar from 25 yards.
    • 28' Nasri and Silva combine, but their move is snuffed out and the Magpies can break.
    • 27' Much jostling in the wall as the two teams prepare for Tevez's free kick. It's not the kindest of angles, but he shapes to shoot and he's not far away. Krul stoops low to smother the ball on the bounce at the near post.
    • 26' First yellow card of the game for Hatem Ben Arfa, who rather clumsily concedes a free kick on the left hand side of the penalty area.
    • 25' Cisse has ripped through several defences this season, but Kompany and Manchester City currently look like another proposition altogether.
    • 24' Lovely skill from Kompany on the right hand side - just as he's danced his way into a position to cross, however, he slips and falls.
    • 23' Tevez latches on to the ball with five Newcastle shirts around him too slow to sense the break. No end product, but City keep threatening.
    • 22' Clichy able to power forward from left-back and attempt a cross, but it's a Newcastle corner and the danger is cleared.
    • 21' Lovely touch from Cabaye, controlling the ball, fashioning a little space and stroking a pass to Cisse. Just as Newcastle threaten, Cisse's pass is overhit.
    • 20' WHOOPS! Krul rushes out to the left of his box to close Aguero and it's a misjudgment which leaves him exposed. The goalkeeper indebted to the work of Williamson, who closed out the danger.
    • 19' Clichy punts a long ball forward towards Tevez, but Santon judges his header well to send the ball back to Krul.
    • 18' In the last six matches Newcastle (W5 L1) have the best league record of any side, and they are attempting to weather this early spell of pressure.
    • 17' CHANCE! Barry to Silva to Aguero in two smooth diagonal passes, then a shot from the Argentine which Krul smothers.
    • 16' Gutierrez and Ben Arfa have really been denied a chance to run at their opposite numbers and test City out. Newcastle have to work out a way of getting their creative players into the game.
    • 15' Tiote, who had eight stitches after a clash of heads with Mikel in midweek, rises after a crunching tackle. Fierce competitor.
    • 14' Cisse's pass back goes through Gutierrez and lands for Tevez - suddenly that left the home side vulnerable, but they fend off the danger this time.
    • 13' Newcastle have failed to win any Premier League match this season when conceding the opening goal. Their last victory from this position was 2-1 at West Ham in October 2010 (Infostrada)
    • 12' Newcastle on the break - Ba picks out Cisse, but two men get straight to him and deny him any room at all.
    • 11' CHANCE! City have the first of the match, with Silva firing across goal from a tight angle and forcing Krul into a save.
    • 10' Tiote boots the croner out of the Newcastle box, but the ball comes back to Manchester City. The first player to really settle has been Toure, who looks in control in midfield.
    • 9' Toure threads in Tevez, and after a couple of deflections and half-clearances Silva and Aguero almost combine to fashion a chance. Corner for the visitors.
    • 8' First good spell of passes, and it's City playing them. Silva, Tevez and Toure all involved, but the killer ball aimed for Zabaleta flying down the right flank is overhit. Goal kick for the Magpies.
    • 7' Newcastle are doing their best to probe out wide so far, but City measuring up well to that so far. When the ball comes to the middle Cabaye competes with Barry for the ball and inadvertently boots the City man in the face.
    • 6' Here's a title race fact courtesy of the guys at Infostrada: The Premier League title will be decided on the final matchday for the 6th time (also in 09-10, 07-08, 98-99, 95-96 and 94-95). The team leading the table going into the final day of the season has won the title on every occasion.
    • 5' Two men who are looking calmer than the players on the pitch are Pardew and Mancini. Both watching on without giving too much away on the touchline.
    • 4' Lescott robs Ba of the ball on the right. It's almost as if there's quite a bit at stake in this match...
    • 3' Now Gutierrez cannot control the ball as he tries to get down the left hand side. Santon then cuts out a ball as City aim forward. Nobody getting anywhere fast.
    • 2' Newcastle knocking the ball foward, City repelling it so far. Zabaleta dispossessed in a scrappy start.
    • 2' Cabaye with a free kick from halfway, looking to lead the hosts upfield. It comes bouncing back towards Tiote, who tries a through ball which ends up in Hart's gloves.
    • 1' We're underway!
    • 13:29 Battle of the strikers? Battle of the defenders? The day City all but wrap up the title? We're about to find out.
    • 13:28 We're out on the field and ready for action. Thriller or damp squib? Both sides cannot settle for the draw...
    • 13:27 The referee for this match is Howard Webb. You know, from the World Cup final and the 2010 Champions League final...
    • 13:26 First sighting of the players in the tunnel - Joe Hart and Tim Krul side by side sharing a joke. Captains Coloccini and Kompany looking considerably more business-like.
    • 13:25 St James' Park (come on, can we really call it anything else?) is full, and looks fantastic. The Blaydon Races being sung to the crowd as the fans await the players.
    • 13:20 Interesting news on Mario Balotelli, who has been left completely out of Manchester City's squad today. He is, however, at the ground, so there's still time for the striker to let off a firework, get the Sicilian mafia to take him on a tour of Newcastle, or something or other entirely barmy. City fans - are you happy to see him out of the squad today?
    • 13:15 A round-up of your predictions on Twitter - pirutman says 2-0 City, NicholasAng4 reckons 3-2 Newcastle. Tmukisa calls the game City's way, ElliotRHarris says 'anything less than a massacre will do me', Salman Redwan warns that 'City have already bottled once this season' and Shoaib Rahin simply says: "I think this game is so important & meaningful for both teams may the best win." Find me on Twitter here @Mark_Eurosport
    • 13:10 Infostrada's Euro Club Index gives Manchester City a 39% chance of victory today, with Newcastle just 29%. Mind you, that makes the draw favourite at 42%. Compare that to the odds, where Newcastle are 4/1, Manchester City 8/11, and the draw 16/5.
    • 13:05 Here's an interesting comparison: Newcastle's home form - P18 W 11 D5 L2 - F29 A15 - Manchester City's away form - P18 W9 D4 L5 - F36 A17 - does that help you make your predictions?
    • 13:00 Roberto Mancini certainly isn't expecting an easy game: "Newcastle played a fantastic game at Chelsea and I think this game will be more difficult for us. The Manchester United game was at home and we played very well to win 1-0 but Newcastle is away and I think it will be harder."
    • 12:55 Would you back against Papiss Cisse scoring today? He has 13 from 12 so far, and here's what his manager Alan Pardew has had to say about him: "It's early days - this is only half a season. His confidence is very, very high - at some point, it will be low, and that's when maybe me and my staff need to kick in. At the moment, we are just running along with him. It's early days for Papiss and he has really hit the ground running."
    • 12:50 '2-1 to Newcastle!' says Glenn Jennings on Twitter - and he's not alone in predicting a very tricky afternoon for the champions-elect. City fans - feeling confident?
    • 12:45 A draw suits neither side. It will mean City no longer have the title race in their own hands, and Newcastle cannot guarantee themselves a top four spot. So what do you will think will happen today? 'No man's land' can't call it either way: "This match is tough for City, Newcastle came a long way from Championship and they are doing extremely well, too close to call." • 12:40 So Danny Simpson doesn't make the starting eleven for the Magpies, but that's a strong-looking Newcastle line-up. City are unchanged from the side which beat Manchester United 1-0 on Monday to reclaim top spot.
    • 12:35 NEWCASTLE UNITED: Krul, Perch, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon, Tiote, Gutierrez, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Ba, Cisse /// MANCHESTER CITY: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Yaya Toure, Barry, Silva, Nasri, Tevez, Aguero
    • 12:30 MANCHESTER CITY TEAM NEWS: Roberto Mancini is expecting to select from the same squad of players when he names his Manchester City team to face Newcastle on Sunday. Mancini may be tempted to stick with the starting line-up from Monday's crucial win over Manchester United, although Micah Richards and James Milner might both hope to be involved.
    • 12:30 NEWCASTLE TEAM NEWS: Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote will be fit for Sunday's crunch Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester City despite suffering a nasty head injury in midweek. The Ivory Coast international needed seven stitches to repair a gash above his eye after an aerial collision with John Obi Mikel in Wednesday night's 2-0 win at Chelsea, but manager Alan Pardew has no doubts he will be available for the City game. Full-back Danny Simpson (ankle) remains a doubt.
    • 12:25 Poignant day for Newcastle fans away from the action - the club have unveiled a statue to their former manager Bobby Robson before the action today. More
    • 12:20 It wouldn't really be a title race unless Sir Alex Ferguson had had a word or two to say about his opponents. Fergie blames City for 'insane' transfer market
    • 12:15 So how do you see today panning out? We've seen plenty of twists and turns in the title race this season - will there be another? Tweet me your predictions for the day - Follow @Mark_Eurosport on Twitter
    • 12:10 Kick-off at St James' Park is at 13:30 UK time. Manchester United will know what is required when they go into their game with Swansea at 16:00. And elsewhere, there's five 14:00 kick-offs in the division, with top four places and relegation at stake. Full fixtures/results
    • 12:05 If Newcastle win their next two games, they are guaranteed a top four finish. If Manchester City win their next two games, they're all but certain to be champions. But one or both of those things cannot happen... The Premier League table
    • 12:00 Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to another crunch day of action in the Premier League title race, where Manchester City can take a big step towards the title with victory at Newcastle United.

  4. Girosnooty, you clearly don't know the Sunderland "fans" who post on here then. I'm not obsessed by their results, but all fans do follow the results of their local rivals, so we can take the mike. It's called banter, something you clearly don't understand.

  5. Well it looks like cirty will win the league. the fans must be relieved. can you imagine the shame of not winning this year having spent so much and being so far from withing the club's means and true stature. money city. no credibility

  8. Apparently there is to be an investigation into this match. According to rumours it may have something to do with Newcastle purposely losing the match!! The apparent loss was because Man City were interested in Cisse but Newcastle agreed to lose the match and Man City promised not to buy Cisse in the summer transfer window. LOL

  9. Thats what I mean Cards fan about being bubbled .You attack anyone who criticises you but are then patronising ESPECIALLY your neighbours Sunderland who seem a decent crew Why do you assume I am a Machem .I am not ..but you are obsessed .by their results as much as you are your own. Slightly embarassing is probably the best description .

  14. Well played to Man City yesterday. There were the better team. We gave it a good go. We have exceeded our expectations this year and are back in Europe. After Kompany's comments yesterday, I hope City clinch the title next weekend.

  19. I dont care about Man City or Man Utd, I personally think that Pardew & team ha ve done fantastically well this season & hopefully that will continue next season. COME ON THE TOON

From ANGELA, on Sun 6 May 20:21
  20. Well done Toon, you've been the best value for money team in the Premiership by a mile. City should win the title with all the money spent on their squad but the fact they haven't won it by a mile shows how much they've underachieved. Take Company and Toure out of their squad and they're stuffed which is incredible really. Its been the poorest Man U team for ages and Chelsea are also stuffed for a bit whilst they have to clear out their pensioners.
