    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday morning (UK only).
    • 90+11 The final whistle blows and Martin O'Neill wins his first match in charge of Sunderland in some fashion! the Black Cats are out of the relegation zone. Not so poor Blackburn, who led this match for so long.
    • 90+10 Lowe is finally carried off the field to warm applause from all sides of the ground. We must be mere seconds away from the final whistle.
    • 90+8' This looks like it may be rather serious. Lowe appears to be out cold and the St John's Ambulance staff or not in any rush to get him on the stretcher.
    • 90+6' The Blackburn defender collided in mid-air with Larsson. It's not looking good for him. He is still down and the stretcher is out.
    • 90+5' There is a break in play right at the end of this game as Lowe is down injured.
    • 90+4' Samba picked up a yellow card in the aftermath of that goal, presumably for something said to the officials.
    • 90+3' Larsson's fifth league goal for Sunderland has surely sealed a dramatic late win on Martin O'Neill's first game in charge.
    • 90+2' GOAL!! SUNDERLAND 2-1 BLACKBURN!! LARSSON SCORES THE FREE-KICK!! The Swede makes up for his costly penalty miss last week by firing in a cracking strike in off the near post!
    • 90+1' The ball hits Formica on the arm and Sunderland have a chance here. The free-kick is near the right-hand corner of the box, perfect for Larsson to have a shot at goal...
    • 90' Three minutes of time to be added at the end of this match. Time for a winner?
    • 89' Jose Nelson said this via Twitter just before Vaughan's equaliser: "i am a sports presenter in ghana with gbc i believe sunderland will still equalize be4 full time but i dnt see them wining." - Good shout, Jose!
    • 88' Larsson curls in an inviting cross for Ji at the far post but Samba gets a vital touch with his head and Sunderland will have to settle for a corner!
    • 86' The Stadium of Light is roaring its team on now. McLean gets in another cross but Samba again clears. He has been a rock this afternoon. He certainly had nothing to do with the goal.
    • 85' David Vaughan's first goal for Sunderland was a beauty and may well have secured his team a point.
    • 84' GOAL!! SUNDERLAND 1-1 BLACKBURN!! Henley's defensive header only sits up nicely for Vaughan to lash an unerring strike past Robinson from 20 yards! A lovely hit to mark Martin O'Neill's first game in charge!
    • 83' It's Richardson who shoots this time, but his strike is always rising and does not trouble Robinson.
    • 82' Again, though, Blackburn deal with the corner. Sunderland retain posession and win a free-kick on the right wing off Dunn. Larsson and Richardson again both eyeing up a shot here.
    • 81' Hanley concedes a corner after more pressure from McLean. The youngster signed from Derry city is helping Sunderland's cause here.
    • 80' Sessegnon goes for the spectacular with an overhead kick inside the area. He catches it well but it goes comfortably over the bar.
    • 78' McLean gets in another cross, low this time, but it's too close to Robinson.
    • 77' Almost an instant impact from McLean, whose quality cross from the left is just too high for Sessegnon, but it leads to Sunderland winning another corner!
    • 77' So, O'Neill has rolled the dice - well, the dice at his disposal anyway - so let's see what he gets.
    • 76' Sunderland substitutions: James McLean and Ji Dong-Won replace Wickham and Colback.
    • 74' Samba is once again a colossus in the air,. stepping in to head away Bardsley's cross. No one is even bothering to challenge the big centre-back when an aerial ball comes his way!
    • 72' Vaughan's corner goes all the way to Larsson on the other wing, but Sunderland are once again unable to fashion a chance from a corner.
    • 71' Richardson tees up Colback for a shot from 20 yards, but it's deflected behind for a corner.
    • 70' Robinson is screaming at his team-mates to get up the field so he can luanch one of his long kicks up there. He must be sick of the sight of red-and-white shirts, so much are the home side dominating the possession.
    • 69' If O'Neill is considering making a change he may want to do it soon. No movement on the home bench as of yet.
    • 68' Sunderland have dominated the possession in the second half even more than the first. They have had 75% of the ball since the break, but they are still a goal down.
    • 67' In their last 10 PL matches, in which they conceded the opening goal Sunderland have not recovered to win since a 4-2 triumph over Wigan on 23 April 2011.
    • 65' GREAT SAVE ROBINSON!! The Blackburn keeper reacts brilliantly to tip Richardson's strike over the bar after it took a wicked deflection off a defender!
    • 63' Dunn has time and space to try his luck from range. He catches his strike well but it fizzes and swerves over Westwood's bar!
    • 62' Sessegnon leaps into an aerial challenge with Dunn, and that's one too many fouls for the referee's liking. Sessegnon goes into his book.
    • 61' Samba heads down Robinson's long free-kick forward, but Bramble hacks it clear.
    • 60' Pedersen looks to break down the left but he only has Yakubu ahead of him. The striker is still being marked tightly by Bramble. Blackburn very unambitious since the break. Only seven per cent of the play has been in the Sunderland final third.
    • 59' Pablo Almendro reckons it's not all doom and gloom for MON: "I disagree with Conor. Sunderland have some good players, like Larsson for example. He's great!"
    • 57' Nice control from Richardson near the byline but he delays too long in trying to get his cross in and Lowe makes the tackle.
    • 56' Hanley tries to shield the ball out of play with Richardson nipping at his heels. The substitute clearly gets the final touch on the ball, but it's a goal kick that's given.
    • 55' Robinson lumps the free-kick forward and Westwood claims it well.
    • 54' Dunn takes a few knocks as he charges through midfield before finally going to ground and winning a free-kick.
    • 53' Richardson wins a corner and he will whip it in. The delivery comes back off the outside of the near post and Blackburn clear!
    • 52' Blackburn are one of two PL sides that have not kept a clean sheet this season. The others are Norwich City.
    • 51' Blackburn substitution: Grant Hanley replaces Salgado. That's all three of Rovers' alotted changes made now due to injuries.
    • 50' Richardson is there too but it's Larsson who shoots... It bends and dips over the wall but bounces wide of Robinson's near post!
    • 49' Yakubu loses the ball in midfield and Dunn trips Colback. Good set-piece opportunity for Sunderland here, some 35 yards from goal. Will Larsson shoot from here?
    • 48' A rather low-key start to the second half. Blackburn seem wary about risking their lead, while Sunderland struggling to know how to set about cancelling it out.
    • 47' Conor Delaney has got in touch via Twitter to say: "MON.great manager no1 can turn average players into good 1's. he wil struggle @ sndrlnd jst lik he wud hav if he stayed @villa!" - Fair point, Conor, if an alarming lack of consonants!
    • 46' Blacburn kick off to get the second half underway!
    • HT Blackburn substitution: Adam Henley, 17, comes on at the break to replace Martin Olsson, himself a first-half replacement for Gael Givet!
    • 45+4' The whistle blows for half-time, and it's greeted with the odd boo around the Stadium of Light. Not the start O'Neill would have hoped for. His team are lucky to only be a goal down, in truth. Share your half-time thoughts with me - @tony_mabert.
    • 45+3' Bardsley sends in a cross but it's over the head of Larsson, the only Sunderland player in the Blackburn box at that moment.
    • 45+1' Three minutes of added time are signalled at the end of the first half.
    • 45' Salgado and Bardsley clash and the Sunderland defender remains down clutching his face. Salgado did catch Bardsley in the face, and gets a booking. Maybe he will think it was worth it in order to get his own back for that dig in the ribs earlier in the match.
    • 43' Nice move forward from Sunderland, started by Brown before the ball coems to Richardson via Colback. The cross is headed around the area but Blackburn eventually clear.
    • 41' Pedersen sends in another free-kick. Westwood comes off his line to claim it but bumps into Samba and goes down. The ball bounces into the empty net, but the whistle had already gone! Not sure Samba knew anything about that, to be honest!
    • 40' Update on Givet's early substitution: apparently the French defender has had a problem with his heart throughout his career, and today his heart rate was much higher than normal, hence his withdrawal.
    • 39' Pedersen nonchalantly floats the free-kick into the miwer. Headed back to Dunn, but he handles as he controls and Sunderland are happy to get a free-kick of their own.
    • 38' Vukcevic beats john O'shea down the wing with a nifty turn and the former Manchester United man trips him. The booking he gets is perhaps a little harsh.
    • 37' Samba heads Larsson's delivery away. Nothing is getting past him in the air today.
    • 36' Decent cross in from Bardsley but none of his team-mates attack it. The Black Cats do win a corner though, and send their big men up for it.
    • 35' Dunn comes across to check Vaughan's progress through the centre of the pitch and is a tad unlucky to concede the free-kick.
    • 34' Bardsley tries to set Sessegnon away with a slide-rule pass, but it's too long for the Benin attacker. Goal kick to Blackburn.
    • 32' David Vaughan tries a reverse pass into the box but it's blocked and comes back to him. This time the Welshman shoots, but his well-struck left-footer flies over the bar.
    • 31' Plenty of tackles flying in from both sets of players. It's not pretty, but it's clear how important the three points are for both sides this afternoon.
    • 30' Sessegnon beats his man down the channel and his cross comes to Wickham. The youngster has to take a touch to set himself and that allows his shot to be blocked. The ball coems to Sessegnon, who fires wide!
    • 29' Rovers have kept just one clean sheet in their last 26 Premier League away games. Paul Robinson has conceded every 39.4 minutes this season (the worst record) and has the lowest saves to shots ratio (52 per cent).
    • 28' Wickham is penalised, either for offside or for an aerial foul, not sure which. The 18-year-old has barely been in the game so far, which is to Dann's credit.
    • 27' Ikpono Abasi Utuk says on Twitter: "Hoping Yaks gets amongst d goals" - It's good to have the Yak back and on the attack.
    • 26' Sunderland have enjoyed 60% of the possession so far in this game, but Blackburn have scored 100% of the goals.
    • 25' Another potential Blackburn injury here as Dunn takes a knock to his side after colliding with Sessegnon in mid-air. The Blackburn midfielder should be fine to continue. Pedersen's long free-kick is caught by Westwood.
    • 24' Yakubu backs into Bramble as he tries to shield the long ball up to him. The pair go tumbling to the ground. Yakubu wants a free-kick but it was 50/50. Bramble looking good against his mark thus far.
    • 23' The game restarts from the Sunderland corner. Blackburn clear but Sunderland come again, only for Sessegnon to drag his shot well wide from 20 yards.
    • 22' Blackburn substitution: Martin Olsson replaces Gael Givet, whp appears to have picked up an injury.
    • 21' RICHARDSON CLOSE AGAIN! Larsson's cross is glanced away by Samba but only as far as Richardson, whose shot deflects off Lowe's face and wide for a corner!
    • 20' Formica feeds Yakubu on the edge of the box. The striker tries to turn his marker but tumbles over as he does so.
    • 19' Sessegnon's low ball runs between the legs of Jason Lowe and Richardson pounces... Saved at close range by Robinson! Lowe can breathe a sigh of relief. He made a real hash of that!
    • 18' The masked man Vukcevic scores his first Premier League goal for Blackburn, and gets Martin O'Neill's reign off to a tough start.
    • 17' GOAL!! SUNDERLAND 0-1 BLACKBURN!! Pedersen pings a free-kick from deep to the feet of Samba. The big defender has his shot palmed away by Westwood but Vukcevic is on hand to head into the unguarded net!
    • 16' Someone called Luke WWE Fan has tweeted me at @tony_mabert to say he reckons Sunderland will win this game 2-1. What do you think? The last time Blackburn won back-to-back PL matches was November 2010, when Sam Allardyce was still the man in charge at Ewood Park.
    • 15' Paul Robinson takes a long punt downfield that goes all the way into the arms of Westwood. Blackburn had plenty of men forward for that. Their keeper's long kicks are a real weapon.
    • 14' Mauro Formica has the beating of Colback in midfield, but the Sunderland youngster trips him.
    • 13' Morten Gamst Pedersen dithers on the ball deep in the Blackburn half and he has to pass to Samba to get him out of trouble. The Norwegian gets a right earful from his captain!
    • 12' Yakubu surges into the box from the left and Bramble slides in with a well-timed challenge to deny him the chance to shoot.
    • 11' First real foray into the Sunderland half for Blackburn. Simon Vukcevic is sporting a rather scary mask today to protect his face.
    • 10' Sunderland have won three and lost none of the last six Premier League games against Blackburn.
    • 9' Salgado really does look to be in some discomfort, but he is back up on his feet and it looks as though he will play on, much to the relief of manager Steve Kean.
    • 8' Salgado goes down in pain after a mid-air collision with Bardsley. Looks like the Sunderland man caught the former Real Madrid defender in the ribs with his elbow. Titus Bramble kicks the ball out of play so the Spaniard can get treatment.
    • 7' Sessegnon battles his way to the byline and pulls the ball back to Larsson. The Swede's clipped cross floats over everyone in the box.
    • 6' Larsson's cross is headed away by Christopher Samba and this time Bardsley has no one in his way, but his miscued strike goes way over the bar. Bright start from the Black Cats.
    • 5' Scott Dann nicks the ball off Connor Wickham at the expense of another Sunderland throw.
    • 4' Blackburn make a good job of clearing the corner, and the ball goes all the way back to Keiren Westwood in the Sunderland goal.
    • 3' Sebastian Larsson whips in a decent delivery, but there's not enough height on it. Sunderland retain possession from a throw. Stephane Sessegnon's pull-back sees Phil Bardsley and Jack Colback get in each other's way, and it's the defender whose strike is deflected over the bar for a corner!
    • 2' Kieran Richardson's cross is blocked by the arm of Michel Salgado. Free-kick on the left for Sunderland, right on the edge of the box.
    • 1' Yaubu trips Wes Brown as the pair tussle for the ball down near the corner flag. The big Nigerian gives the defender a hand back up and an apologetic handshake, all the while beaming away like a man who scored four goals in his last game should.
    • 1' After a rousing reception for Martin O'Neill from the home fans, Sunderland kick off and we're underway!
    • 13:25 The players are just about to walk into on to the pitch in front of an expectant Stadium of Light crowd. You can share your thoughts on this game by getting in touch with me via Twitter @tony_mabert. This could be a cracking game.
    • 13:20 Speaking of Yakubu, here's some stats you will enjoy. The Nigerian's four-goal haul last week has seen him rocket up the charts among Europe's top strikers. His minutes-to-goal ratio is 78.4, the sixth-best in Europe's top five leagues, sandwiching him between Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero. He is also the fifth-best in terms of goals to shots (22 shots, nine goals, 40.7% conversion rate). That puts him between Lukas Podolski and Franck Ribery. Not bad at all.
    • 13:15 Blackburn arrive on Wearside on the back of that 4-2 win over Swansea in which Yakubu scored all four goals. A bullish Kean said: "It has been excellent this week. When you get a good victory like last week there is a nice feel good factor around the place. We have been training well all week and we just want to keep the momentum going. We knew the Swansea game was the first of a good batch of home games, with Bolton and West Brom coming up after Sunderland."
    • 13:10 Martin O’Neill picks up where he left off in May 2010, with a home match against Blackburn Rovers. On May 9 2010, his Aston Villa side lost 1-0 against Blackburn at Villa Park. O'Neill said of his first week in charge of the club he supported as a boy: "It's been particularly hectic. It's trying to get to know players, backroom staff, and they likewise with me. But the excitement is still there, obviously building up to Sunday's game, and I'm looking forward to it immensely."
    • 13:05 Both these sides go into this game in the bottom three of the Premier League table. Sunderland are 18th on 11 points with Blackburn a point and a place below the Black Cats. A first win in six for Sunderland would lift them up to 16th by virtue of their vastly superior goal difference over Wolves. A first away win of the season in the league for Rovers would send them up two places to 17th. Premier League table
    • 13:00 Beleaguered Blackburn manager Steve Kean has suffered a big blow ahead of this crunch relegation six-pointer - young forward Junior Hoilett is absent after picking up an injury in training. Another young attacking prospect, Ruben Rochina, also misses out after having his wisdom teeth out earlier in the week. Martin Olsson passed a late fitness test, but only makes the bench. Ryan Nelsen is still short of match fitness, and Steven N'Zonzi serves the final match of his three-game suspension. Blackburn Rovers team page
    • 12:55 Martin O'Neill's first teamsheet as Sunderland boss includes teenage striker Connor Wickham, who comes straight back into the team after recovering from the ankle injury sustained at Old Trafford a month ago. Wickham makes only his fourth start for the club since arriving from Ipswich in the summer. Titus Bramble returns to the defence, while David Vaughan replaces the suspended Lee Cattermole. Nicklas Bendtner has not recovered from a groin problem in time to play. Sunderland team page

Subs: Kilgallon, Dong-won, Meyler, McClean, Elmohamady, Ryan Noble, Carson /// Blackburn: Robinson, Lowe, Salgado, Samba (C), Dann, Givet, Pedersen, Vukcevic, Dunn, Yakubu, Formica.
