    • 90+5' FULL TIME. Sunderland win 1-0 thanks to that facrical goal from Bendtner, but they deserved all three points thanks to a resolute performance. Liverpool were awful.
    • 90+4' O'Shea clears again! Carroll was causing havoc in the box from a desperate cross but Sunderland survive.
    • 90+3' Superb challenge from O'Shea to prevent Suarez from getting a shot away and Sunderland take the ball clear.
    • 90+2' Downing on his right foot hoofs the ball over the bar following a square pass from Enrique. Liverpool are going down to defeat following a very poor performance here today.
    • 90' Liverpool have four added minutes to get something out of this game. They don't deserve it though.
    • 88' Downing touches the ball off to Gerrard after a cut-back from Enrique but Vaughan races forward to produce a fine block for Sunderland. Time running out for Liverpool now.
    • 86' Stat from Infostrada: "If the scores stays like this it will be the third time Liverpool have lost by a 1-0 score line in the PL this season. The only clubs to lose 1-0 more often are Everton, QPR and Sunderland (four times each)."
    • 84' Here is that anticipated change as Bendtner is forced off on a stretcher.
    • 83' Bendtner is having to go off as a result and will be replaced by Connor Wickham.
    • 81' A poor challenge from Skrtel as he clatters into Bendtner from behind and leaves the striker in a heap. A yellow card, no doubt about it.
    • 79' Liverpool make their final change as Stewart Downing comes on for Henderson. Downing hasn't even got one assist yet this season.
    • 77' It looks for all the world as though Liverpool will have won one in eight after this afternoon. They will also be 10 points behind Arsenal in fourth.
    • 76' Stat from Opta: "Luis Suarez has scored in both of his Premier League appearances against Sunderland."
    • 75' A change for Sunderland as Campbell is replaced by David Vaughan. That is a defensive change, and why not.
    • 74' Suarez juggles in the box with his back to goal and tries to score on the spin. However, he may have been better off allowing to Carroll to get a shot away instead as he looked well placed to do so.
    • 72' The two subs combine: Carroll heads down for Gerrard, who sends a meek effort at goal. Mingolet has no trouble dealing with it.
    • 70' Stat from Infostrada: "If Liverpool fail to score twice in the second half it will be the first time they have gone four PL matches in a row without scoring more than once since August to September 2010 under Roy Hodgson (four matches)."
    • 69' Double change for Liverpool as Bellamy is replaced by Steven Gerrard and Adam comes off for Andy Carroll.
    • 68' Nice work from O'Shea as he cuts out a dangerous cross from Henderson on the right. Suarez was lurking with intent.
    • 66' Adam drives a shot wide and Suarez is unimpressed as he was looking for some service in the box.
    • 65' Liverpool have been rubbish today, frankly. They need far more cutting edge in the final third.
    • 63' Liverpool win a free kick on the right but Adam's delivery is poor as he fails to beat the first man.
    • 62' Stat from Infostrada: "Sunderland score the opener against Liverpool for the first time since the ‘beach ball goal’, which turned out to be the only one on 17 October 2009."
    • 61' Stat from Infostrada: "Nicklas Bendter scored his fifth PL goal for Sunderland, and second in consecutive matches. His only previous PL goal against Liverpool came in Arsenal’s 1-1 home draw in April 2008."
    • 60' Henderson plays a lovely return pass to Suarez after receiving a square ball but the Uruguayan then drags his first-time effort wide on the turn. A good chance for the visitors.
    • 58' It wasn't quite a beach ball tapping in from close range, but that was fairly hilarious.
    • 57' GOAL! Sunderland 1-0 Liverpool! It's Nicklas Bendtner with a comical goal! Campbell does superbly to find space on the edge of the box and his drive comes off the base of the post, against Reina's head and back against the post before bouncing into the path of the Dane, who tucks his shot away.
    • 55' McClean now drifts inside and instead of looking for the pass to Campbell comes onto his right foot and gets his shot horribly wrong. A poor decision from the Ireland winger.
    • 53' Larsson gets away from his man in midfield and when the ball is worked to Colback he drives the ball over the bar from 20 yards. A decent effort from the young midfielder.
    • 51' Adam is allowed to charge forward 30 yards with the ball but Liverpool lose possession when Bellamy lets his pass run wide.
    • 50' McClean gets away from Henderson all too easily on the left and his low cross is deflected at goal by Skrtel. However, Reina is alert to catch the ball.
    • 49' The Sunderland fans howl for a foul thrown when Henderson chucks the ball to Kelly down the line but the referee signals play on.
    • 47' Stat from Infostrada: "Liverpool failed to score a first half goal for the sixth time in their eight PL matches in 2012."
    • 46' KICK OFF!
    • - What did you think of that first half? Let me know on Twitter now. Follow Tom Adams on Twitter
    • 45+2' HALF TIME. A disappointing first 45 minutes comes to a close at the Stadium of Light.
    • 45+1' Suarez drives into the box following another fine run that takes him past O'Shea but Mignolet narrows the angles and blocks Suarez's effort.
    • 45' Bridge challenges in the air and when he lands he appears to jar his knee. The on loan left-back requires treatment and looks in some trouble.
    • 44' Kuyt gets on the end of the corner but after his messy contact the ball is cleared at the far post.
    • 43' Mignolet misjudges the flight of Adam's free kick as he comes off his line and is then forced to take a step back and palm the ball over for a corner.
    • 42' The first booking of the game is shown to McClean as he clatters into Martin Kelly by the touchline.
    • 40' Bendtner plays the ball square to Craig Gardner and the midfielder takes his shot early as he rifles it wide from 20 yards. A decent effort, nothing more.
    • 39' Martin Skrtel produces a fine challenge to prevent Campbell from getting a shot away in the box after the striker initially spins away from him. He had to get that right or he would have risked a penalty.
    • 37' The ball drops for Bendtner at the back post and the Denmark international swings and misses again. He isn't on his best form this afternoon.
    • 36' This has been a rather dreadful game so far. Neither side has much quality in the final third and the ball is spending a lot of time in the air.
    • 35' Stat from Opta: "Luis Suarez has scored in both of his Premier League appearances against Sunderland."
    • 34' Bellamy thumps Colback to ground with a robust body check. Nothing nasty, but it is clearly a foul.
    • 32' Bellamy pulls out the stepovers before seeing his square pass deflected into the path of Adam , who gets under the ball and smashes his shot high into the stands.
    • 31' Liverpool's first chance! Jordan Henderson, formerly of Sunderland, delivers the cross from the right and Kuyt rises above the defence to nod a meek header at goal. Mignolet gathers with ease.
    • 30' This has been a pretty poor half. Liverpool haven't even had a shot yet. And given they score at a rate of nine goals in every 100 shots...
    • 28' Now Colback is penalised again for tripping Suarez from behind. He wants to be wary of persistent fouling.
    • 27' Jack Colback brings Adam to ground with a sneaky little trip to prevent a Liverpool break.
    • 26' Stat from Infostrada: "Liverpool have won just one and lost three of their last five away matches in the league."
    • 25' A risky backpass from Phil Bardsley to Simon Mignolet but Sunderland manage to bundle the ball clear.
    • 23' Suarez negotiates his way past Michael Turner this time but runs the ball out of play. He looks as though he will be as lively as ever in the Liverpool attack.
    • 21' A classic little run from Suarez. He exploits a poor pass from McClean to dive inside Wayne Bridge and away from Larsson before winning a corner. Adam's set piece goes to Suarez at the back post but he fails to make contact.
    • 20' Enrique raises an arm to catch Fraizer Campbell in the head with both men watching the ball as it drops from the air. It's a foul but nothing more as there was no intent.
    • 19' Sunderland win a free kick when Charlie Adam is guilty of a foul but Larsson's delivery is too deep and floats out of play.
    • 18' Stat from Opta: "Defeat in their last league game at the Stadium of Light against Arsenal ended a run of four wins and no defeats for Martin O’Neill on home soil with Sunderland."
    • 17' McClean delivers a dangerous low cross from the left but while Bendtner swings his boot wildly in the general direction of the ball, he fails to make contact.
    • 16' It has been a confident start from Sunderland and Liverpool are struggling to put together anything resembling a decent move at the moment.
    • 14' Stat from Opta: "Liverpool have the worst conversion rate in the Premier League this season, scoring with just 8.6% of their shots."
    • 12' Coates mis-times his leap, allowing Bendtner to collect a long pass and get in behind. However, Liverpool clear from his cut-back.
    • 11' Larsson's second corner bounces into the path of Bendtner at the back post and he tries to stab it at goal first time, only to get his connection wrong.
    • 10' Suarez with a terribly sloppy pass and James McClean takes possession before driving forward to win a corner. Larsson whips in a low one and Kuyt clears behind for another corner.
    • 9' A lovely delivery from Larsson from the left but while O'Shea meets his free kick in the centre of the box his flicked header flies off target.
    • 8' Suarez goes on the hunt but fails to get on the end of the return pass after feeding Dirk Kuyt to his right. Now Suarez attempts to get away from O'Shea but concedes a goal kick.
    • 7' Stat from Opta: "Liverpool have won four and lost one of their last five visits to the Stadium of Light, with the Black Cats netting just one goal in total in those five matches."
    • 6' Jose Enrique slips in Craig Bellamy with a neat pass but the Welshman can't find a Liverpool shirt with his cross into the box.
    • 5' A poor touch from Luis Suarez as he attempts to control a pass through the middle allows John O'Shea to collect the ball and clear for Sunderland.
    • 4' The ball sits up nastily for Coates as he makes a mess of a pass back to Jose Reina. However, Dan Agger is in attendance to help clean up.
    • 3' Stat from Opta: "Sunderland’s last win in this fixture came courtesy of a deflection from a beach ball thrown on to the pitch back in October 2009."
    • 2' Seb Larsson finds a yard of space down the right but there is Coates, making only his second league start, to clear for Liverpool.

    • 14:50 Unless Fulham have a big win at Aston Villa and Liverpool lose, then the Reds will stay to seventh no matter what. Sunderland could go as high as eighth depending on other results with a win. Premier League table
    • 14:45 Today's referee is Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)
    • 14:40 Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill will not strip Lee Cattermole of the captain's armband despite his derby-day dismissal which leaves him out of this match. Cattermole captaincy not under threat
    • 14:35 Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has brushed aside the discrepancy between his side's home and away records and insists there is no difference in their approach. Dalglish sticking to same formula
    • 14:30 Wayne Bridge makes his first start for Sunderland as he replaces the injured Kieran Richardson. Lee Cattermole and Stephane Sessegnon are suspended so Jack Colback and Fraizer Campbell come into the starting line-up.
