    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match, along with every Premier League game, from 00:01 on Monday morning (UK only).
    • 90+5 So, this is it as Bannan looks to launch the free-kick in - Vlaar arrives far post but it spins behind for a goal kick and the whistle goes. 1-1, a fair result, handshakes all round.
    • 90+4 Guzan launches what he would call a hail mary punt but it's aimless and West Brom clear. McAuley can hardly move now as Tamas takes one for the team, knocking down N'Zogbia as he chipped it over him.
    • 90+3 A high ball in from Clark is met by a rising Bent but his flick on is straight to Foster, who takes his time.
    • 90+2 A bit scrappy now. This has not exactly been a technical wonder but the pace has been frantic and entertainment value high!
    • 90+1 In the first of four added minutes. West Brom clear the corner and Lukaku could be in here but Bennett flies in with a last-gasp tackle on halfway.
    • 90' Villa have a throw on the right. And now N'Zogbia is fouled, the ref awarding a free-kick when the advantage was set to go Villa's way. The ref apologises.
    • 89' Morrison with a super ball to release Lukaku, the angle is tight and Guzan closes it but the Belgian still gets the shot in, only for the American to parry. Gera controls the loose ball with his arm, free-kick.
    • 88' JUST OVER FROM BENT! Spectacular first-time effort after N'Zogia and Lowton combined to put him through.
    • 87' Villa only have three points in mkind now and they're piling it on! Dorrans with a good tackle on Al Ahmadi and it's a throw.
    • 86' Great cross from Bennett on the left but Agbonlahor didn't read it and it's cleared behind for a corner by Olsson!
    • 85' Mulumbu gives it away and here come Villa again! Phew, Villa have ramped up the tempo and West Brom are struggling to deal with it!
    • 84' McAuley is down hurt for Villa. The physios run on before that corner is taken.
    • 83' Agbonlahor on the run, he holds off one challenge then another but blocked and Foster claims! Now the Baggies break, Vlaar slips and Lukaku is through but his fantastic dipping shot is deflected and just wide for a corner!!
    • 82' Bannan flies in with a crunching but fair tackle on Mulumbu as the Baggies man ran away with the ball. Throw.
    • 81' Lukaku almost races clean through from the restart but Foster rushes out to clear.
    • 81' STAT - Darren Bent's 150th League goal. Chapeau.
    • 80' GOAL VILLA! 1-1! AND IT'S DARREN BENT! Obviously. Villa corner, Vlaar flies in with the header which is blocked, Clark turns on to it but his shot is blocked but there is Bent to control and ram home a finish. The arch poacher strikes, and it's 1-1.
    • 79' Holman with a good low ball in but cleared, Villa come again though and they have men over as Lowton finds N'Zogbia, who blasts wide!
    • 78' This is good pressure from Villa now as Lowton almost wins a corner off Dorrans, Foster racing out to hack out for a throw. Good football from the keeper.
    • 77' N'Zogbia needs to get on the ball, he puts in a cross but Tamas clears. A big boost to have the big man at full-back, a fine header of the ball.
    • 76' Villa improving their possession now but what happened to that form in the first half? A function of inexperience most likely.
    • 75' The corner is retaken as McAuley and Clark cross swords once more. It amounts to nothing anyway.
    • 74' A loose Bennett header sets Lukaku on his way, his shot blocked behind for a corner.
    • 73' West Brom happy to take their time over all set pieces now.
    • 72' Throw to West Brom on the right as Gera latches on to Long's pass, Bennett making the tackle. The Baggies to make a change now as Lukaku replaces Long.
    • 71' VILLA SUB: Last throw of the dice as Bannan comes on for Delph.
    • 70' Yacob is booked I think after a foul on the Villa left. N'Zogia to take but headed well over by Vlaar.
    • 69' VILLA SUB: Bent on for Benteke. There's a gag in that somewhere.
    • 68' Dorrans on a run now and he threads a pass to Morrison but Bennett gets there first. The backpass means Guzan must kick clear, and it ricochets off Morrison but out for a goal kick.
    • 67' Benteke has a half-chance after McAuley gives the ball away but Yacob flies in to block and it's a corner.
    • 66' All West Brom now as Popov fires a long shot over. VILLA SUB: N'Zogbia on for Albrighton.
    • 65' Morrison with a hanging cross that Guzan and Long fly into, Guzan drops it but away to safety.
    • 64' Mulumbu threads Morrison through but out flies Guzan to claim at his feet! Would have been offside but a late flag from the linesman.
    • 63' Morrison with a cute lay-off to Tamas, whose cross turns into a shot and will fly in but Guzan somehow tips it away! Great reflexes and a strong arm from the American! That came from a throw-in routine.
    • 61' Long scuffs a shot straight at Guzan but he was offside and knew it. Nice pass from Gera in the build-up.
    • 59' Dorrans takes it but sends the free-kick into the wall. Long latches on to the loose ball but Vlaar is right on him and eventually it goes out of play via Mulumbu.
    • 58' Heavy touch from Foster after a necessary back-pass but he makes the clearance. Now West Brom have a free-kick 30 yards out.
    • 57' Vlaar and Bennett are over the ball, a touch to the right. And Bennett takes, flashing a curling effort just wide! Good try.
    • 56' Free-kick to Villa on the edge of the box as Yacob shoulder barges Holman off the ball. Popov is livid with his team-mate as the ball was his all day.
    • 55' Long leads another Baggies counter but the flag is up this time.
    • 54' Villa now have a corner on the right which Albrighton swings in but Tamas heads clear.
    • 53' Somehow Villa fail to level as bodies fly into the Baggies box, Agbonlahor and Benteke both unable to finish off Holman’s fantastic low ball as Tamas flies in with a game-saving tackle!
    • 52' It was a super run into space from Morrison but the replay shows the ball was flicked against Long's boot by Vlaar sliding in. Long's second league goal of the season and fourth in all comps.
    • 52' GOAL WEST BROM! 1-0! LONG WITH A SIMPLE FINISH AFTER A FANTASTIC RUN AND CROSS FROM MORRISON!
    • 51' West Brom have started this half well and Villa’s fans go spare as Yacob clatters into Delph. Good tackle says the ref!
    • 50' Long almost wriggles clear of the Villa defence but good defending sees him away. Now Mulumbu has it on the right after an exchange with Gera, fine cross AND LONG BURIES A FANTASTIC HEADER but the flag is up! Half a yard offside!
    • 49' Holman on another mazy run down the left but good covering from Mulumbu and West Brom have a goal kick in the end.
    • 48' Down the other end Tamas and McAuley combine to clear and Villa have a throw on the left, which Bennett will take.
    • 47' Holman feels he should have had a free-kick after a tussle with Popov but it goes the other way; West Brom then win a corner but Villa clear.
    • 46' The second half is underway. Villa very much in the ascendancy.
    • 45+2 The half-time whistle goes and it's goalless, but West Brom have lost two players injured.
    • 45+1 WEST BROM SUB: Jones comes off for Tamas.
    • 45' Fantastic interception from Bennett as Morrison almost played Long in. Now Jones can bring it back forward for West Brom, he passes it back to McAuley, who returns the favour but Jones has collapsed holding his knee! Benteke steal it, the Belgian is in but the extra two touches allow Yacob to cover, and in the end he fires over! What an odd exchange. Jones in real trouble, he just went down with no-one near him.
    • 44' A clumsier intervention from Olsson this time as he shanks a clearance behind for a corner. Albrighton puts it in but headed half clear. Bennett crosses back in but cleared once more. And now the counter is on as Mulumbu races away, now Morrison on the left, back to Dorrans and the opportunity has gone with Villa back in numbers, Gera’s weak cross cleared.
    • 43' Nice first-time cross by Lowton but Olsson backheels it clear. Calm.
    • 42' The sizeable away contingent react angrily as Long is outmuscled for a high ball. He’s looking increasingly isolated. Down the other end Mulumbu snuffs out a Villa attack before Foster clears long.
    • 41' West Brom defend the corner well enough and clear upfield. Holman has been bright today.
    • 40' GREAT SAVE FOSTER! A super run and left-foot shot from Holman, which takes a big deflection off Jones, but Foster reads it and tips the ball behind for a corner. Lovely jinking dribble from the Aussie.
    • 39' The corner almost leads to a goal but Clark heads well wide. Brunt's day is over - he is replaced by Dorrans.
    • 38' Brunt looks annoyed at not winning a free-kick as he took a knock in conceding a corner. He's out of play so gets his treatment straight away.
    • 37' Agbonlahor with good wide play on the left, holding it up for Holman, but his low shot is well wide.
    • 36' Timely headed intervention from Olsson as a long pass almost released Agbonlahor. Remember - Villa have Darren Bent on the bench.
    • 35' Villa doing much better in terms of territory and possession now, having been subject to a Baggies assault early on. Chances appear to have dried up a touch though.
    • 34' A crunching challenge between Holman and Jones, but fair says the ref.
    • 33' Long skips away frm Clark but the flag is up - he was just offside.
    • 32' Al Ahmadi plays it inside looking for Benteke but Morrison intercepts.
    • 31' Yacob goes down like a sack of spuds but Lowton won the ball. He realises he's in England and gets up.
    • 30' Brunt hammers a mis-hit half volley high and wide after a nice move that saw Long nod Gera's pass back for the Northern Irishman. Jeers from the home fans.
    • 29' Nice run and pass from Vlaar, Agbonlahor eases it left to Albrighton who in turn releases Benteke, but his shot flies well wide.
    • 28' Villa have a free-kick deep in their half, initially looking to release Agbonlahor but the ref calls play back.
    • 27' A promising move for West Brom breaks down as Brunt's attempted 'Laudrup' scoop lands in no-man's land.
    • 26' The corner is initially cleared but Villa get it back. The second ball is into the six-yard box but Foster coolly rises in the melee to gather with ease.
    • 25' Holman unleashes a dipping half-volley from some way out and Foster watches it carefully before tipping it over for a corner. Great effort, decent save!
    • 24' West Brom have a free-kick but Villa clear. Skipper Vlaar looking solid in defence.
    • 23' Brunt and Delph challenge for a 50-50 and it looked a fair challenge from Delph to me, but the referee books him. He gets the ball, catches him slightly on the follow through and if that is a foul and a booking then how come Gallas on Van Persie wasn't yesterday?
    • 22' All a bit scrappy now as both sides struggle to keep possession.
    • 21' Clusmy control from Agbonlahor after a decent pass forward from Clark.
    • 20' Gera finds space centre-right but his shot is a daisy cutter from range that the keeper Guzan gathers. And as the 19th minute starts, Villa fans lead a tribute to skipper Stiliyan Petrov, recovering from leukaemia, whose shirt number is 19. Baggies fans join in. Nice.
    • 19' Jones tackles Al Ahmadi on the right before surging clear and winning a free-kick off the same man.
    • 18' Fine ball wide from Agbonlahor to Bennett but McAuley slides in nicely to hook it back and clear.
    • 17' Holman snapping away in midfield to win back a ball he had lost. But West Brom get back in numbers and are able to clear the danger.
    • 16' Great defending by Popov who chests a cross down for Olsson to hoof clear. Calm and collected under pressure.
    • 15' Good passing move from Villa now, Holman finds space on the left and digs out a nice cross that Jones nods out for a throw.
    • 14' Olsson with an important intervention to head behind for a corner after Agbonlahor wreaks havoc with a run and cross from the left. Benteke again lurking. These two have combined brilliantly so far.
    • 13' Popov takes no risks in booting it behind for a corner after a fine ball by Benteke caused problems. Agbonlahor lurking.
    • 12' The corner poses some problems for the Villa defence as a bit of a scramble ensues in the six-yard box, but no-one can get a shot away and the hosts clear.
    • 11' Popov gets forward and shows good pace to beat Albrighton to the ball, driving in a cross that strikes the Villa man on an outstretched arm but no penalty! Popov is asking the question, it did hit the arm of the youngster but he knew little of it. Corner.
    • 10' Good delivery and Clark flies in but McAuley eases him off the ball, which flies away for a throw! That could easily have been a penalty!
    • 9' Good work from Benteke down the right to win a corner. Albrighton will take...
    • 8' Clark with a long clearance under pressure from Brunt and Agbonlahor gives away a free-kick while giving chase.
    • 7' Long takes the ball nicely on the heel, flicking it up for a volley on the run but he gets under it and spins the shot well over.
    • 6' That was a great chance for Long. Meanwhile, debutant Popov takes a whack on the side of the head to welcome him to English football in the derby atmosphere.
    • 5' Villa are unable to clear their lines in midfield and West Brom snatch back possession. Brunt with a nice cross that Morrison nods down brilliantly AND LONG MUST SCORE but he puts his free header wide! It skimmed off the side of his head and past the post!
    • 4' Guzan watches on as a cross from the left sails into his side netting. West Brom coming at Villa with the hosts seeming to be playing on the counter.
    • 3' Good slide tackle from Bennet on Jones, but then Villa go down the other end with Agbonlahor showing great pace down the right, a fantastic dipping cross and Benteke flies in but the ball spins away from both him and Olsson!
    • 2' Villa snapping away at their visitors' heels in these early exchanges, the Baggies taking the game to them.
    • 1' The first half is underway at Villa Park.
    • 15:55 Today’s referee is Anthony Taylor from Manchester. He has overseen three Premier League games this season, managing to avoid showing any cards in Southampton 0-2 Wigan and West Ham 3-0 Fulham. However, he showed six yellows and a red when Swansea were beaten 3-0 by Everton last weekend.
    • 15:50 MATCH ODDS: Aston Villa (6/4) West Brom (9/4) Draw (12/5)
    • 15:45 FACT: 10 points after five games is West Brom’s best ever start to a Premier League season. But they have won just one of their last eight Premier League away games (W1 D3 L4).
    • 15:45 FACTS: After winning five and losing none of the first nine Premier League meetings with West Brom, Villa have lost two and won none of the last three; Aston Villa have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games (W1 D6 L8).
    • 15:45 FACT: Six of the last eight Premier League meetings between Villa and West Brom have ended with a 2-1 score line, while the other two finished 0-0.
    • 15:40 I'm a shade surprised that Lukaku has been benched today - would love to see him up against Vlaar in a derby environment, but it seems Clarke has gone for Long's experience and a packed midfield. What do you make of these selections? Let me know on Twitter @Reda_Eurosport. FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 15:35 Steve Clarke (West Brom): "We've had a good start and Villa have had an okay start. You can't say they've had a bad start. They've had enough decent results to show what Paul is trying to do there is starting to work. Their trend is upwards. I've watched a few of their videos leading into this match and you can see the team is starting to play the way Paul would like them to play."
    • 15:35 Paul Lambert (Aston Villa) on the form of Gabriel Agbonlahor: "Every time I pick a side it is hard but Gabby's performance the other night was exceptional. His two goals were fantastic and, if you get Gabby firing on all cylinders, then he is a handful. Consistency comes from within himself. He is at an age now where he has got to get consistency in his game as well."
    • 15:30 West Brom, meanwhile, hand a debut to Macedonia defender Goran Popov, a derby for him no less. He plays left-back with Liam Ridgewell (thigh) not deemed fit enough to start. James Morrison returns from a hamstring strain, but Peter Odemwingie is still banned.
    • 15:30 So Brad Guzan continues in goal for Villa despite conceding four against Southampton last time out. Shay Given kept goal during the 4-2 Cup win at City, but he has to sit on the bench, as do Darren Bent and Andreas Weimann, with the in-form Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor leading the line for the first time in the league this season after his exploits at Eastlands. Brett Holman returns from a knee injury, but Stephen Ireland is still out with a wrist injury.
    • 15:25 TEAMS - Aston Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Bennett, El Ahmadi, Delph, Albrighton, Holman, Agbonlahor, Benteke; Subs: Given, Lichaj, Westwood, Bannan, N'Zogbia, Weimann, Bent /// West Brom: Foster, Jones, McAuley, Olsson, Popov, Mulumbu, Yacob, Gera, Morrison, Brunt, Long; Subs: Daniels, Tamas, El Ghanassy, Dorrans, Fortune, Rosenberg, Lukaku
    • 15:20 These are two sides with contrasting fortunes. Villa have been in the doldrums in recent seasons and lie 15th in the league this season, although they will have been boosted by a fine League Cup win at Manchester City in midweek. The Baggies, meanwhile, have had a great start to life under Steve Clarke and are sixth. A win today could put them a heady second. Boing! Premier League standings

  17. Beneteke wastes a chance to set up Holman at the stoke of halftime. In tight contests like this that can be the difference between 1-0 or 0-1. Selfish play and Lambert should remind him. Good back and forth match though.
