    • 90+4' HUGE CHANCE! Guzan makes a great reaction save at his near post when Nolan rifles a shot at goal!

    • 90' We will have four added minutes.
    • 89' Carroll gets a header on but as Cole races onto the ball, Guzan comes out to smother it. Good decisive goalkeeping.
    • 88' I think it's fair to say we are set for a rather nervy conclusion here.
    • 87' GOAL! Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham! Late drama! Cole curls in a free kick and the luckless Westwood flicks it on with his head and sees the ball loop over Guzan and in.
    • 86' Chance for West Ham! Villa fail to clear from a free-kick and the ball bounces out to Vaz Te, who hits the ball into the turf and sees it deflect behind for a corner. Vaz Te is then penalised for a nudge when the ball comes in.
    • 85' N'Zogbia has taken a knock and Yacouba Sylla is on following his arrival on deadline day.
    • 84' Cole pumps in a deep cross to the back post and Vaz Te is on hand to steer a header at Guzan, who makes the save.
    • 82' Dawkins, the debutant, pulls out a bit of a dive when Reid slides towards him in the box. Clattenburg isn't fooled though.
    • 81' Stat from Infostrada: "Christian Benteke has now scored in each of Villa's last four PL matches, equalling the club record of netting in four in a row. This was previously done by Dion Dublin (2003) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (2008 & 2009)."
    • 79' GOAL! Aston Villa 2-0 West Ham! N'Zogbia punishes West Ham when he curls home a beautiful free-kick from 25 yards. The wall didn't jump but he judged his curling, dipping effort superbly.
    • 78' Reid goes into the book for a petulant reaction to a free-kick being awarded when Tomkins pushes Bent in the back. Reid slammed the ball into the ground.
    • 77' The ball finds Cole in the box after both Vaz Te and Tomkins get a touch but the striker hesitates when mulling the first time shot and instead allows himself to be tackled. Poor.
    • 76' West Ham throw on Carlton Cole for Mark Noble.
    • 75' Benteke has now scored in each of his past five games, with a total of six goals.
    • 74' GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 West Ham! Benteke steps up and is cool as you like as he waits for Jaaskelainen to move and then slots the ball the opposite side.
    • 74' Loads of contact - Clattenburg made the right decision. Benteke to take...
    • 74' PENALTY TO VILLA! Mark Noble brings down N'Zogbia with a clumsy challenge!
    • 73' Nolan gets to the free-kick at the near post but can't keep his header down as it squirms off his head and over.
    • 72' Baker fells Cole with a terrible tackle by the right touchline. No surprise to see his name go in the book.
    • 71' Lovely skills from Delph, again, as he loses his man with a drag-back and is fouled. However, advantage is played and Benteke shoots wide when offside.
    • 70' Stat from Infostrada: "Darren Bent comes on the pitch. He has scored 10 of his 102 PL goals as a sub."
    • 68' The ineffectual Matt Taylor is replaced by Vaz Te.
    • 67' OFF THE LINE! Sharp reactions from substitute Bent as he sticks out a leg to prevent a goal-bound effort from Carroll sneaking in after the big striker holds off two markers to meet a corner.
    • 66' Dawkins, by the way, has arrived from Spurs at the age of 25 but is yet to make a single appearance in the Premier League having been on loan at San Jose Earthquakes and Leyton Orient previously.
    • 65' Benteke spreads the ball left to N'Zogbia and he jinks inside Pogatetz before lashing a fierce effort wide of the far post from 20 yards. That was a good chance.
    • 64' Double change for Villa as Weimann and Bowery are replaced by Darren Bent and Simon Dawkins on for his debut.
    • 63' Demel delivers a cross from the right and Guzan gets to the ball just ahead of Carroll. The ball is punched out to Nolan and he sees his low effort blocked.
    • 61' Delph with a lovely backheel in midfield but again Villa can't keep possession. A brief flash of quality.
    • 59' Weimann whips in a cross to the near post but Bowery can't get on the end of it as the ball sneaks out of play.
    • 58' Westwood delivers a corner and then some seconds later a cross, but neither find the target.
    • 57' Winston Reid clears behind from a Bowery cross though, so Villa have a corner...
    • 56' Villa are defending well but Lambert will be rightly concerned that at present it is West Ham doing all the pressing.
    • 55' More fine defending as Clark this time clears from his own six-yard box from Taylor's cross. Guzan is rather unconvincing from the resulting corner as he fumbles. But Villa clear, and when West Ham assault the box once more, Clark makes another excellent clearance with Tomkins ready to tap in behind him.
    • 54' Baker heads away from another corner. Villa have actually defended manfully from set-pieces today, which is rather unlike them.
    • 53' Delph appears set to lead a quick break for Villa but takes a heavy touch and is dispossessed in clumsy fashion. This game is still suffering from a chronic lack of quality.
    • 52' Cole delivers a teasing free-kick from the right which is headed behind for a corner by Baker when Guzan looks well positioned to catch it.
    • 51' Demel now appears to be hurt after Benteke leads with his arm when jumping for the ball and catching the West Ham defender in the face. Demel continues though.
    • 50' Carroll tussles for the ball in the box and goes to ground under pressure. He appears to want a penalty but went down a bit too easily when Vlaar leant on him.
    • 48' An unconvincing backpass from Clark but Guzan is alert to boot the ball downfield.
    • 47' Clattenburg sorts out some pushing from a corner but when the ball comes in from Cole, Villa clear. West Ham regain possession and Tomkins gets a shoot away that is blocked by Vlaar.
    • 46' KICK OFF!

    • 45+4' HALF TIME. Dreadful stuff, with Weimann missing a huge, huge chance for Villa.
    • 45+3' Not much is happening, which will no doubt come as a surprise.
    • 45+2' Carroll finally gets a sight of goal but hammers his shot high and wide after rushing himself.
    • 45+1' We will have four added minutes - torture.
    • 45' It's a poor free-kick from Villa and Diame leads the breakaway, but Clark comes across well to deal with the danger.
    • 44' Pogatetz pulls back N'Zogbia in full flight and it's no surprise to see the book come out.
    • 43' Villa construct a nice passing move and Weimann pops a first-time pass in for Lowton, but the defender sticks out a leg and fails to control when he finds himself in a dangerous position in the box.
    • 41' Weimann tries to get in behind but is penalised for offside. That counts as a major incident by the standards of this half.
    • 39' Vlaar gets free from a corner and he thumps the ball into the turf and up, watching it spin over the bar at the near post. A decent effort that.
    • 38' Just one shot on target so far in this abomination of a first half at Villa Park.
    • 37' Lovely work from Ciaran Clark as he makes an important interception to stop Joe Cole from converting from close range for West Ham.
    • 36' Stat from Opta: "Villa have won none of their last eight Premier League games (D3 L5) and overall they have picked up just 31 points in their last 40 Premier League games. The Hammers have earned 30 points in their last 25 PL matches."
    • 34' Nathan Baker, injured at a corner earlier, is now bleeding considerably from the head. He will have to get that looked at.
    • 33' Persistent work from N'Zogbia as he twists and turns to get a cross in but Jaaskelainen plucks the ball out of the air with ease.
    • 32' This really hasn't been a good game at all.
    • 31' Benteke caught offside again as another ball comes into the box.
    • 30' Ashley Westwood tries to get a pass away in midfield but referee Mark Clattenburg gets the way, giving West Ham the ball. They work it to Diame, who fires into the side netting from a tight angle.
    • 29' Stat from Infostrada: "West Ham won both PL matches refereed by Mark Clattenburg this season – at QPR and at home to Norwich. Villa los their last PL match refereed by Clattenburg 4-0 at home to Tottenham."
    • 27' Weimann pounces on a bouncing ball in the box and gets his header away but it cannons into a blue away shirt.
    • 26' N'Zogbia plays a diagonal ball in for Bowery, who in turn tries to feed Benteke. However, the West Ham defence intercepts and clears.
    • 25' Meanwhile, Demel is indeed on to replace the injured O'Brien.
    • 24' Ouch. Tomkins slides in to challenge Delph and the midfielder accidentally lands his boot in the mouth of the Hammers centre-back. Now he needs treatment.
    • 23' O'Brien doesn't look to be improving much as he tries his injured leg out on the touchline.
    • 22' O'Brien hobbles off the pitch and West Ham do have Guy Demel on the bench if they need him.
    • 21' N'Zogbia only just fails to play in Weimann with a neat through-ball before Villa apply more pressure when Baker charges in to smash into a tackle on O'Brien, who needs treatment.
    • 20' With 19 on the scoreboard, Villa Park erupts in the now traditional applause for Stiliyan Petrov. Even Lambert joins in.
    • 19' It is a very wet afternoon at Villa Park with hair turning rapidly greasy.
    • 18' The free-kick goes deep to the back post where Benteke is waiting but he gets under the ball as he leaps into the air and sends his header high into the air.
    • 17' The ball is spending a fair amount of time in the air but now Delph gets the ball on the deck and shows a bit of quality when slaloming past two people and being brought to ground by Pogatetz.
    • 15' Lovely skills from Mohamed Diame as a drag-back sees him get away from his man, only for his run to be halted by a shirt tug and a foul.
    • 14' Stat from Opta: "Only Stoke (326) have committed more fouls in the Premier League this season than West Ham (319)."
    • 13' It's been a bit of a disjoined affair so far at Villa Park. Short on quality.
    • 12' Baker is up and running again after receiving treatment. He looked a touch groggy for a second.
    • 10' Weimann wins a corner from James Tomkins and when Nathan Baker gets his head to the ball, Joey O'Brien panics and puts it behind. Another corner is delivered and this time Baker gets a knock to the head and requires treatment.
    • 9' Delph smashes a volley high over the bar but Benteke has already been caught offside when trying to latch onto a ball over the top.
    • 8' Stat from Opta: "Aston Villa have scored just two goals in their last seven Premier League matches at Villa Park."
    • 7' Weimann's glaring miss still the standout moment of the half but West Ham are starting to exert a bit more control and Carroll is proving hard to deal with.
    • 5' A nervy moment for Villa as Andy Carroll wins a header in the box and when it bounces back to him he shins it just over the bar. Brad Guzan watches it over safely.
    • 4' Weimann had his head in his hands after that, and rightly so. Villa can't be squandering chances like those in their current situation.
    • 3' HUGE MISS! Benteke cuts in from the right and drills a weak shot at goal. Jussi Jaaskelainen somehow fumbles the ball though and it pops out for Andreas Weimann, who has to just tuck it away. Incredibly he misses! That is a shocker!
    • 2' Ron Vlaar gets an early touch and looks confident as he skips away from Andy Carroll before playing he square back to Nathan Baker.
    • 1' KICK OFF! Villa play in their traditional claret and blue, with West Ham in a light blue change kit.
    • 13:30 Here come the two teams at a wet Villa Park. It's a slick surface so we should see the ball pinging about nicely.

    • 13:20 Time for some stats from Opta: "Villa have conceded the highest proportion of second half goals of any team in the Premier League (69%). Paul Lambert’s side are on a run of nine Premier League games without a clean sheet; only Fulham (11 games) are on a longer current run in the PL. The Hammers have taken just one point from the last 21 available on the road and scored just five goals in their last nine games away from home in the Premier League."
    • 13:15 As Allardyce has hinted before the game, the man to watch today is Christian Benteke, who despite Villa's struggles has scored five goals in his past four games, scoring in each. He has been linked with a £20 million summer move to Manchester City in this morning's papers.
    • 13:10 If West Ham lose then Villa will escape the bottom three and the Hammers will only be seven points clear of danger themselves. Still a good cushion, but not enough for Allardyce to feel comfortable. Allardyce wary of Benteke threat
    • 13:05 Things are looking bleak for Villa as they are without a win in the Premier League since a 3-1 win at Liverpool on December 15. However, they only missed out on a win at Everton last time out following a 93rd minute effort from Marouane Fellaini. They start the day in 19th place. Premier League table
    • 13:00 West Ham make two changes from last weekend's 1-0 win over Swansea as Joe Cole comes into midfield and Emanuel Pogatetz makes his full debut as Ricardo Vaz Te and Matt Jarvis drop out of the starting XI.
    • 12:55 TEAMS: Aston Villa: Guzan, Baker, Clark, Vlaar, Lowton, Bowery, Westwood, Delph, N'Zogbia, Weimann, Benteke. Subs: Given, Sylla, Bent, Bannan, Holman, Dawkins, Bennett. /// West Ham: Jaaskelainen, O'Brien, Tomkins, Reid, Pogatetz, Noble, Diame, Nolan, J.Cole, Taylor, Carroll. Subs: Spiegel, Demel, O'Neil, Jarvis, Vaz Te, C.Cole, Chamakh.
    • 12:50 Some early team news is coming out of Villa Park and the home side bring back Fabian Delph after his two-game absence due to an ankle injury. Ashley Westwood is passed fit, despite suffering from illness this week.
    • 12:45 Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the claret and blue derby between Aston Villa and West Ham at Villa Park.

  1. What on earth were Noble and Tomkins thinking of?. You can't do dumb stuff like that in the Premier League and get away with it, especially that close to goal, and Carroll, admittedly great in the air, but with the ball at his feet, next to hopeless. Geez, I can't wait for his loan spell to end. I think the whole team, including Big Sam, need an imagination transplant coz the ones they've got are non-existant. Perhaps Frank Lampard could come back when Chelsea contract expires as he's still scoring more goals than any of our strikers!

  2. The Fat Controllers' post match interview on the Beeb was proof that he doesn't know what he's doing. I watched live on Sky then watched the highlights on MOD - just to reaffirm how bad the Hammers had played!

  3. What do we have to say about this thrashing of West Ham by common Aston Villa. Now who is Sam Allarydce going to blame, referee, Ferguson or Old traford? Results of matches show who a good or bad managers is. All those managers who accuse ferguson do it out of envy. One more thing, how many minutes did they play? 5 good minutes and against Arsenal, 12 minutes, that is not Ferguson time. Stop the hate of Man U and feel good. The more Man U have haters the more they progress.

  4. So Sick what are you on man, we have only been bad really the last 2 seasons, so ok under Houllier we were poor until last few games which pulled us clear, and we actually finished 9th so don't think that was to bad, then the 3 previous seasons we finished 6th 3 times in a row, its only the last 2 seasons we have been bad, sorry mate check your facts but your wrong.

  6. Benteke is really a very good player Look at the belgians in the PL Kompany, captain of Man City. Vermaelen, captain of Arsenal, Lukaku, one of the best players of West Brom, Vertonghen and Dembele, one of the best players of the Spurs, Hazard, one of the best players of Chelsea, Fellaini and Mirallas, one of the best players of everton. Mignolet(sunderland), one of the best keepers of the PL; Belgium got avery good national team.

  7. By the way, Nzogbia has seemed like a different player these last few games, so i have to ask why he has been abysmal for the last year and a half.

  8. Vital win. Come on villa!! Can i just say that Benteke is a top top player and has rightly being getting a lot of credit, but Guzan deserves a special mention because he has been consistently brilliant all season and deserves to be recognized for the top keeper he is.
