    • - Don't forget you can watch highlights of this match from 00:01 on Thursday morning (UK only).
    • - Thanks for joining us tonight, any comments please tweet on @Reda_Eurosport. We'll be back tomorrow with more live action as Liverpool and Newcastle attempt to qualify for the Europa League.
    • 90+6 Final whistle, Chelsea survive a real scare, Petr Cech wipes the sweat from his brow and the Blues are top of the league (until the weekend).
    • 90+5 GOAL CHELSEA! Torres clears the corner and Federici is stranded - he's racing back but Hazard races away, Gunther is back on the line but he just slips it to Ivanovic who rolls it home. 4-2, flattering but job done.
    • 90+4 Anyway, you can't complain when Harte has a free-kick - and his driven low effort is deflected behind for a late corner. Federici comes up for it!!
    • 90+3 Leigertwood wins a free-kick off Oscar about 35 yards out but he wanted advantage as he had kept his footing and was in space. Poor refereeing.
    • 90+2 Free-kick to Reading on the left which Harte will swing in... nodded out for a throw by Meireles.
    • 90+1 Cahill's fine. This could be a nervy injury time period for the hosts...
    • 90' FIVE minutes added time being played as Cahill picks up a knock.
    • 89' Chelsea have shut up shop now as Reading try to get a deserved equaliser. Nice touch by Le Fondre to Robson-Kanu, good cross that Hunt nods back in but Cech claims above McAnuff.
    • 87' Just sneaked a look at the replay. Torres looked offside there. Oops.
    • 86' Reading are pumping it into the Chelsea box but Terry and co are holding firm.
    • 85' READING SUB: McLeary is replaced by Robson-Kanu as the Royals go for broke.
    • 84' Cole almost sneaks in down the left again but his cross is blocked. He's played a lot better in the latter stages of this match.
    • 83' CHELSEA SUB: Meireles replaces the flagging Mata.
    • 82' Many saying Torres was offside, hard to see through the bodies and if someone else got a touch. Would like to see that again.
    • 81' McAnuff cuts in from the left before driving a shot towards goal, but it's too close to Cech.
    • 80' GOAL CHELSEA! Torres with a tap-in after Ashley Cole's low cross left the Reading defence flat-footed!
    • 79' Chelsea laying camp on the edge of the Reading box - and Mata breaks through the yellow brick wall only to drag his finish wide! Federici a spectator!
    • 78' Poor cross from McAnuff on the left after a tidy backheel from Le Fondre.
    • 77' READING SUB: Hunt replaces Pogrebnyak.
    • 75' Reading are furious after Le Fondre appears to be checked by Terry. No foul.
    • 74' Sturridge shows his greedy streak by shooting from a ridiculous angle when he had lots of support in Torres, Oscar and Mata. Fine if it comes off, but selfish when it doesn't.
    • 73' Poor shot from Mata after a fine sweeping attack from Chelsea.
    • 72' READING SUB: Le Fondre, a striker, replaces Karacan, a midfielder.
    • 71' Mata with a curling long-range effort but it's a yard wide. May as well have a go with Federici in nets.
    • 71' That was poor from Federici, who conceded a very soft goal to Stoke in the opener this season. You're only as good as your keeper, and he does not look Premier League quality. Cech's blunder was worse, but he rarely makes them. Chelsea should go on and win this now. Corner to Chelsea as Oscar's cross is blocked by Gunther.
    • 70' GOAL CHELSEA! Cahill with a drive from a long way out but Federici with a second mistake this week, he should have stopped that! 2-2!
    • 69' Hazard is tripped by McAnuff, flying into Pearce in the process. Free-kick to Chelsea as Sturridge enters, I think for Lampard.
    • 68' Oscar threads a nice ball into Torres, who takes one (heavy) touch before trying a shot that Harte blocks! He wants a penalty but the ref waves it away, Torres felt it was hand ball!
    • 67' Now Torres gets in down the right, he drills it low for Ivanovic who can't connect but it drops to HAZARD but his drive on goal is blocked by Pearce! That's more like it from Chelsea.
    • 66' Mata on the ball, now Oscar, wide to Hazard who finds Ivanovic etc etc. I use etc because this is pretty but you just know there'll be no end product. Yup, Oscar gives it away.
    • 65' Pogrebnyak is late on Cole and he will enter the book now.
    • 64' Chelsea are toiling as every attempted through-ball or dinked pass flies straight at a Reading defender. They're better than this but not showing it.
    • 63' Reading win a corner in comical circumstances after Terry thrashes a clearance against friend and witness Ashley Cole.
    • 62' A rare effort on goal from Chelsea and it comes from young Oscar, straight a Federici though.
    • 61' Terry is okay, trotting off as is customary before waiting the ref's signal to return to the field of play.
    • 60' John Terry is on the turf holding his face after rising for a header with Pearce. So brave! He seems okay though.
    • 59' Hazard's turn to hit the deck as Harte takces him out after a clever spin by the Belgian, who is something of an expert at drawing fouls.
    • 58' Karacan catches Mata in the middle of the park and he is booked, first of the match. Trod on his foot after the ball had gone.
    • 57' "@abuVengeance: doesn't seem Ramires is feeling "gazelly" today. Time for Oscar I think. Torres needs to see more of the ball" - good call, Oscar has just come on for Ramires. FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 56' Ivanovic with a run into the box now and he wins a corner for Chelsea. Good ball it is too as Terry flies in but he can't make contact and Reading survive for now! And Hazard is in down the right but a poor cut-back well beyond Torres and Reading clear.
    • 55' Nice mazy run from Mata but his through ball meets a sea of yellow as Reading get everyone behind the ball.
    • 54' Torres just about keeps it in after a one-two with Lampard but Cole fails to deliver the cross. Cole has been poor tonight.
    • 53' Terry pops up on the left wing - so brave, so lionhearted - but his cross is cleared from an arriving Torres. Why is Terry on the left wing?
    • 52' Jeers as a poor crossfield pass from Cole sails out for a throw, well beyond Ramires. "Champions League you're having a laugh" Reading's fans sing. Steady!
    • 51' A somewhat isolated Torres looks folorn after failing to get hold of the ball once more. To be fair to him he's been starved of service.
    • 50' Reading counter attack now, they showed their danger here in the first half, but it's snuffed out this time.
    • 49' Hazard's turn to hammer one well over. Very subdued at the Bridge, you'd at least hope for some booing!
    • 47' Ivanovic, sporting a faintly New Romantic hairdo, bounds forward before thrashing an ambitious effort well over the bar.
    • 46' Immediate attack from Chelsea as Ramires flicks it on for Torres, whose route is blocked. Eventually the hosts have a throw.
    • 46' The second half is underway. Chelsea need to change this around quickly.
    • - "@XtremeSoccerBoy: i think this first half says a lot about Di Matteo's reign. He certainly deserves a shot after last year, but he'll struggle"; "@rouslanh: Chelsea still lack that team chemistry, and you there is no communication between players. But they will turn it around 4-2"; "@ladkings: Torres' inconsistency in front of goal might still cost Chelsea this season...he's not a big threat anymore to defenders!" FOLLOW ON TWITTER!

    • 45+2 Half-time and, having scored the opener, Chelsea are trailing 2-1 thanks to the might of Pogrebnyak and some horrible goalkeeping by Petr Cech!
    • 45+1 Mata wide to Hazard, he delivers a superb cross AND TORRES RISES but he can only head it wide! He did well to get between Gorkss and Pearce but he should have got better direction on that.
    • 45' Two minutes added time being played. Robbie DiM will have his work cut out at the break - since they scored Chelsea have been awful!
    • 44' Harte swings the free-kick in, another fine delivery, and Pearce attacks it but flicks the ball wide! Well, the replay shows he missed it completely! Should have been a third!
    • 44' Chelsea are on the rack at the moment, unable to clear their lines. Every time they try a break a sloppy pass in midfield ends the move. Now Terry leaves the Pog in a heap, once again escaping a booking.
    • 43' Pogrebnyak is proving himself to be a right handful, winning another corner on the Reading right. Harte to take... great ball but Gorkss can't connect properly and Chelsea scramble clear.
    • 42' Sloppy attempted tackle by Cole and McLeary is in again - but this time the cross is blocked by Cahill, corner.
    • 41' A rather desperate backpass from Ivanovic as Guthrie almost wriggles in, Cech hacks away.
    • 40' Mikel wins it back in the Reading half with a super tackle, releasing it quickly and Chelsea are in but Hazard's low shot is poor.
    • 39' A long ball could release Torres but, without support, he is dispossesed.
    • 38' Chelsea's early fluency has all-but gone now as Cole mis-hits one out for a Reading throw. Guthrie runs at the defence now but runs it out for a goal kick.
    • 37' The ref rather needlessly halts play for a head injury to the Pog, who was already getting up. Runny nose it seems.
    • 36' Great centre from Mata but brave, lion-hearted John Terry leaps a touch too high and powers it over.
    • 35' Karacan hacks Hazard down after a shimmy from the Belgian wide left and Chelsea have a free-kick. Mata to take...
    • 34' Reading have had two shots on target and both have gone in. Efficient.
    • 33' Ramires with a fine cross that Torres rises to attack but Lampard is in his way and scrambled clear by Gorkss.
    • 32' McAnuff has it on the left again but his shot, while on target, is too close to Cech. May as well!
    • 31' Mata gives it away, now the Pog has it, inside to McAnuff but Cahill stands him up. Chelsea all over the shop defensively.
    • 30' "We're top of the league" the away fans sing. Now then chaps, don't get cocky...
    • 29' A Rob Green moment for Petr Cech - Guthrie's free-kick went around the wall but straight at the giant keeper, who palmed it into his own net. A genuine shocker.
    • 28' Harte will take this... No he won't, he runs over it and Guthrie smacks it low towards goal AND CECH FUMBLES IT! GOAL READING!
    • 27' A late trip from Terry on McAnuff on the edge of the Chelsea box so that should be yellow. Maybe not, just a warning. Free-kick Reading either way, too far left to shoot I'd say...
    • 26' Chelsea respond with some pressure, but Hazard's cross-shot is blocked before Ramires gives away a free-kick.
    • 25' Weak defending from Terry and Cahill there, the former too slow to react when McLeary was telegraphed inside Cole, dragging Cahill out of position to track the Pog. Cahill should have matched the Russian but what a header from the big man.
    • 24' GOAL READING! And guess who it is? Pogrebnyak with a superb angled header after beating Cahill to McLeary's excellent cross!
    • 23' That spell of Reading pressure breaks down as Leigertwood fails to get on to McLeary's centre.
    • 22' Reading now have to come at Chelsea and they're having a go, seeing more of the ball since they conceded a few minutes ago than all match before.
    • 21' Chelsea counter now but Hazard shows he is human after all by mis-hitting an attempted volleyed cross for Torres.
    • 20' Corner to Reading on the right... Harte's centre easy for Cech.
    • 19' Earlier we pointed out that Hazard won the most penalties of any player in Europe's top leagues last season. Easy to see why. Meanwhile, Lamps, solidifies his status as second-highest scorer of penalties in the Prem, now on 39 (Shearer leads on a monstrous 56).
    • 18' Lampard to take the penalty... GOAL CHELSEA! Low to the keeper's right, serious pace on it so no chance for Federici. 1-0.
    • 17' PENALTY CHELSEA! Stupid foul by Gunther on Hazard after the Belgian cut the ball back past him. No need to go to ground on the left side of the penalty area.
    • 16' Good play by Karacan and McAnuff as Reading break, now McLeary takes on Cole, who slides across to knock the ball out for a throw. Very much a Championship feel to this Reading side, with the notable exception of Pogrebnyak.
    • 15' Mata lofts a superb ball wide left to Cole, but he falls over while trying to control it, much to the away support's amusement.
    • 14' Reading struggling to get beyond their own area let alone halfway. Surely only a matter of time for Chelsea.
    • 13' Cole cuts in from the left before crossing for Torres but Gorkss clears; a second ball is aimed at Ivanovic but it's deflected into Federici's arms. I was harsh on Torres earlier - replay shows he was denied by a superb block from Pearce!
    • 12' After a very long but ineffectual spell of Chelsea possession, Torres takes it upon himself to run at the Reading defence with a mesmerising solo dribble, but he half overruns it before scuffing the shot badly. Great play until the finish! (Correction - replay shows Pearce blocked his shot)
    • 10' Chelsea seeing pretty much all of the ball save for that counter attack and the odd defensive touch for the visitors. Could be a long evening for Reading.
    • 9' "@Ebblon: Chelsea will win 3-0 thanks to a Torres double and a Hazard goal"; "@HamuchiJFakih: one of the best Chelsea Fc formations I've seen!"; "@SayemIRahman: a thong :-P." FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 8' Guthrie runs with the ball to a central position, he finds Pogrebnyak who fires in a rising effort that flies wide. Reading show their danger on the break.
    • 7' Mata with a superb first-time through ball to Ramires, who races away like a hungry gazelle before unleashing a rasping drive that a diving Federici palms away! First proper chance to Chelsea.
    • 6' Cole is in acres on the left but he looks backwards to Terry, whose pass is intercepted by Karacan. Frustrated noises from the home fans.
    • 5' Despite the move breaking down, Chelsea retain possession and continue to probe from deep. Softly sofly, catchee monkey...
    • 4' Hazard on the right finds Mata, who slips a cute reverse ball in for Lampard, but the pace is too heavy on that pass and Pearce clears.
    • 3' Chelsea hold on to the ball for a minute or two without really doing much, Reading sitting back very cautiously.
    • 2' Gunther in a lot of space on the Reading right but his cross is poor, Ramires completing the clearance. Now Hazard gets a touch, exchanging passes with Mata before drilling a low effort across Federici but well wide.
    • 1' Early attack for Chelsea as Ivanovic gets forward from right-back. Cleared by Reading.
    • 1' The first half is underway at Stamford Bridge.
    • 19:43 Reading win the toss, choose ends and Chelsea will kick off.
    • 19:40 The teams are out, Reading in yellow as they look to stifle a frankly terrifying Chelsea front line.
    • 19:35 If you were on £80k a week to occasionally trot out as cover for the first team, what would you wear to games? I'd probably rock the "distressed roughneck" look, leather jacket, aviators and a hard-hat, just for effect. Let me know what your Paulo Ferreira outfit would be... FOLLOW ON TWITTER!
    • 19:30 @SamWallaceIndy: "Paulo Ferreira in the press box. Ice-white sweater draped over shoulders in the continental style. Purple polo shirt. 'Rested' tonight"
    • 19:25 Tonight's referee is Lee Mason.
    • 19:20 MATCH ODDS: Chelsea 1/4, Reading 12/1, Draw 9/2.
    • 19:15 FACT: No player has won more penalty kicks in the top five European Leagues (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and England) since the start of last season than Eden Hazard (7).
    • 19:15 FACT: Eden Hazard registered the most assists (16) in Ligue 1 in 2011-12 and already has a goal assist to his name for the Blues.
    • 19:15 FACT: Chelsea had just six shots in their opening game against Wigan on Sunday, their fewest in a Premier League game since September 2007 (four versus Man Utd).
    • 19:15 FACT: Chelsea have won six and lost just one of their last nine Premier League home matches. Chelsea have drawn 199 games in Premier League history.

    • 19:05 Reading's Jem Karacan was expected to miss this match but he has recovered ahead of schedule from his broken leg as Brian McDermott goes 4-5-1, dropping Adam Le Fondre. Jason Roberts is suspended, but Jimmy Kebe and Stuart Taylor are in the squad although not selected. Taylor will be watching in earnest - fellow keeper Adam Federici made a mistake that allowed Stoke to take the lead in the 1-1 draw on the weekend.
    • 19:05 David Luiz misses out for Chelsea with his knee injury, Gary Cahill replacing, while Marko Marin has a hamstring strain. Oscar, mentioned by Di Matteo in his pre-match press conference, does not start, with Frank Lampard and John Obi Mikel sitting in midfield, Ramires returning from illness to do the running in support of Hazard and Mata. Yikes!
    • 19:00 TEAMS - Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cole, Cahill, Terry, Mikel, Hazard, Ramires, Lampard, Mata, Torres; Subs: Turnbull, Bertrand, Essien, Romeu, Meireles, Oscar, Sturridge /// Reading: Federici, Gunter, Harte, Gorkss, Pearce, Leigertwood, Guthrie, Karacan, McAnuff, McCleary, Pogrebnyak; Subs: Tabb, Mariappa, Robson-Kanu, Hunt, McCarthy, Cummings, Le Fondre
    • 18:55 FACT: There have been three red cards in the four Premier League games between Reading and Chelsea (two for Reading, one for Chelsea).
    • 18:55 FACT: Only Alan Shearer (56) has scored more penalties in the Premier League than Frank Lampard (38).
    • 18:55 FACT: Reading have only won seven of 38 Premier League away games.
    • 18:55 FACT: Chelsea have won five and lost none of the last six meetings in all competitions against Reading.
    • 18:50 Brian McDermott: "They are the best team in Europe. I thought they were really, really good on Sunday. They started off really well. They got a couple of goals early on and could have scored another one when Fernando Torres went through. But it will be a great challenge for us tomorrow night."
    • 18:50 Roberto Di Matteo: "We are slowly looking to integrate Oscar like we did with the other signings. He hasn't been with us long so we have to give him the right time to get used to his new team-mates, the club and the team, do some tactical work with him and slowly put him into the team."
    • 18:45 Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Chelsea and Reading's Premier League clash, kicking off at 7.45pm UK time.

  4. I think Reading did very well considering that two main players were out. An offside was given and was shown offside by Sky Italia, I thought we would get a better class of officials in the prem, he missed the call, so be it. Even Chelsea players admit it was offside. 4 - 2 made Chelsea look better than they were, 2 x gifted goals a pen and a cracker from Cahill. Best goal of the match was by the Pog for Reading, more of that to come. Reading had Chelsea worried and the fans looked very glum indeed - you only sing when you are winning !

  5. First up Torres was level therefore onside secondly having your legs taken from under you is not a dive.. looks like a number of people on here need to visit spec savers or are two tribalised to Reading to accept the facts.

  13. Did penalty counts as an assist towards the player that won the penalty ? If it does that means Hazard now has 5 assist in 3 games which I doubt if it's ever been done by any players in the 2 opening matches of the season. And if it doesn't count,3 assist in 2 games still a great stats too. I think we're just getting the glimpse of what Hazard is capable of,but he need to up his game all the time and till the final whistle is blown. We look a bit shaky in defence today and Terry should take some blame for the second goal,he was outside the 18 yard box instead of helping Cahill defend, has he forgot that his first priority is to defend and what a howler from a GK of Cech's standard,he needs to put his act together,I think we did well as a unit, but we need to bring in a RB,a very speedy and tricky winger that can play either side, someone who can put in great crosses and dribble pass opponents, which we'll be getting in Victor Moses and don't know why it's taking us like forever to get him,we need to bring in this kind of players in the 60's or 70th minutes when opponents defenders are tired and he could come tear them apart and put in great passes or crosses for our CF. More so,someone need to tell Sturridge that football is all about team work or he should go start playing Tennis,Golf Boxing or other individual sport so he can get all the glories and hyping alone, football is all about working together as a unit, and that's making Hazard,Mata Oscar a better player and securing starting 11 ahead of him, because he's way too selfish,he needs to get that straight into his head and start passing the ball rather than trying to score from impossible angles all the time, though Ramires #$%$ me off early on in the game too,he should have pass to Torres rather than trying to score on his own. I think it's just a matter of time before we bring in a creative CM and DM except if Romeu is given a chance and McEachran steps up to fill the CM

So many games are not won by players or good managers, they are often,as this game was, won by poor officials. Twice tonight Torres was offside, the second time resulted in a goal. The linesmsn was one of three things. He was either blind, biased or slow witted. He was up with the play so had absolutely no excuse for his error. Officials in the Premier League who make glaring errors like his should immediately spend the rest of the season refereeing or running the line in Park Football. And I am no Reading supporter, just reporting how it is.
