    • 58' Cole watching Lennon like a hawk to come across as cover and make the clearance.
    • 57' Looks like Spurs are going to make a change as Assou-Ekotto knocks a pass straight out of play. Poor stuff really.
    • 56' Nine of the 11 Premier League goals scored by Brazilians for Chelsea this season have come at Stamford Bridge. Will there be more this evening?
    • 55' Glorious chance for Hazard. Did superbly well to give Walker the slip, but leans back and lifts the shot over the bar.
    • 54' Azpilicueta sends a dangerous ball swirling into the heart of the Spurs box. Lloris forced to watch that clear his bar by a couple of yards. Think that was intended to be a cross.
    • 53' Lovely ball into the middle by Luiz, but Torres just fails to get enough pace on the shot across the face of goal as Lloris holds on.
    • 52' Bale back defending well to head clear the Mata delivery. Chelsea continue to push and probe.
    • 51' Parker back to cut off the cross from Oscar and Chelsea continue to seek a third goal from another corner.
    • 50' The only team that managed to come back and win after trailing by one goal at half-time vs Chelsea this Premier League season was West Ham 3-1 (0-1) on December 1 2012.
    • 49' Chelsea clear the danger from Huddlestone's delivery. Plenty of pace on the ball, no white shirts lurking, looking for the initial delivery.
    • 48' Azpilicueta knocks the ball behind for a corner after a strong run up the park by Walker. Spurs have a corner here.
    • 47' An offside flag goes up against Lennon. Smart play by Cole to play the offside.
    • 46' We are off and running then in the second period.
    • 45+2' There goes the whistle for the break! A 2-1 lead for Chelsea at half-time. The correct scoreline at this stage of the match.
    • 44' We are into two minutes of time added on.
    • 43' Can't really argue with this scoreline. Chelsea have looked the likelier side going forward. Hazard picks out Oscar, but he sidefoots the ball into the arms of Lloris.
    • 42' Mata almost picks out Torres, but Huddlestone doing well to make the intervention at the key moment.
    • 41' Walker plays a lovely one-two with Adebayor, but can only knock the ball wide of goal. Real chance not taken. Was difficult with the left foot.
    • 40' Cole showing some nifty footwork to give Adebayor the slip. Spurs trying to find a way back.
    • 39' Goodness knows what is going on in that Spurs defence. Massive amounts of space between Vertonghen and Dawson at the heart of that visiting defence.
    • 38' Bale looking to bring Spurs back on terms, but the ball races away from him. Much to Cech's relief.
    • 37' GOAL! Ramires races onto the pass from Torres to prod the ball into the corner of the net. Brilliant run and finish. Chelsea lead 2-1.
    • 36' Ramires uncorks a shot at goal from 30 yards. Ramires with plenty of time to get that shot in. Always rising over the bar.
    • 35' Dawson miskicks trying to clear. Lloris then punches clear under pressure from Mata.
    • 34' Adebayor searching for his second goal. Goes beyond Cole, but can't control the volley as he shins the ball over the bar.
    • 33' Bale skips away from Cole. Manages to wallop the shot at goal, but that is a superb piece of defending by Cahill to make the block right on cue.
    • 32' Spurs not exactly covering themselves in glory from these corners. Chelsea asking the questions.
    • 31' Mata with Chelsea's latest corner but this time Lloris comes to punch before Azpilicueta nods wide of goal from the loose ball.
    • 30' Emmanuel Adebayor is unbeaten in Premier League matches vs Chelsea when scoring: winning 2-1 with Man City on 5 Dec 2009 and drawing 1-1 with Spurs on 22 Dec 2011.
    • 29' Super run by Lennon off the ball seconds before Adebayor lifted that shot high into the rigging.
    • 28' Spurs continue to look to hit on the break as Azpilicueta does well to deprive Bale of the ball.
    • 27' Emmanuel Adebayor scores his first goal in his fifth Premier League appearance at Stamford Bridge. Suddenly all you can hear are the Tottenham supporters.
    • 26' Chelsea kept retreating and retreating. And are punished. His fourth goal of the season. First real attacking move of the night by Spurs.
    • 25' GOAL! Adebayor bounds up the park from his own half. Looks up before lifting the ball over Cech from 23 yards out. Super finish.
    • 24' Parker manages to block the Hazard shot before Spurs hit on the break.
    • 23' Dawson manages to get his head in the way of a bullet shot by Mata. Brilliant piece of defending. Chelsea have the corner.
    • 22' Benitez out of his technical area. Chelsea on course to virtually secure Champions League football tonight.
    • 21' Luiz slams a free-kick into the Spurs wall. Bit ambitious, but Walker is closed off as he tried to bring the ball up the park.
    • 20' Great work by Hazard to win the ball from Holtby as he prepared to pull the trigger. And on we go here. Chelsea on the move.
    • 19' Walker failing to collect a ball out of defence from Assou-Ekotto. All of a bit of struggle so far for Spurs.
    • 18' Chelsea have only lost in one of the previous 11 matches Oscar scored in this season – the 2-1 loss at Shaktar in the Champions League in October.
    • 17' Tottenham managed only four shots last weekend, fewer than any other team playing on Saturday or Sunday. Need to work harder really in defence and midfield.
    • 16' Spurs again cut apart in defence as Mata knocks the ball over from Azpilicueta's cross. So much time and space in that visiting area.
    • 15' Holtby skips away from Ramires. Manages to get the shot at goal, but never really had the power to trouble Cech as the ball slides wide.
    • 14' Dawson penalised for a late challenge on Torres. The Chelsea fans making themselves heard.
    • 13' Too much passing from Spurs. Adebayor trying to pass his way through to goal, but Cole well positioned to make the intervention.
    • 12' Spurs never picking up properly in their box and were in trouble as soon as Cahill won the initial header on. What can Spurs come up with?
    • 11' GOAL! Oscar nods home from Cahill's header. Spurs caught cold from Mata's corner. A 1-0 lead for the home side.
    • 10' Ivanovic's header deflects wide of goal from Mata's free-kick. Chelsea have a corner here.
    • 9' Referee Mike Dean spotting an off the ball challenge by Huddlestone on Hazard. Free-kick to Chelsea 40 yards or so from goal.
    • 8' Not seen too much of Bale yet, but he does well to muscle the ball away from Azpilicueta.
    • 7' Mata turns on the edge of the Spurs box, but thumps the ball over the bar. A couple of yards over.
    • 6' Jan Vertonghen trying to bound forward before he goes to ground out wide. The outcome is a free-kick to Chelsea that Cech can launch from his own half.
    • 5' Another flag goes up against Chelsea - this time Torres deemed to have wandered offside.
    • 4' Walker trying to get Spurs on the move at the other end, but he can't get the cross in and eventually loses his balance. Goalkick to Chelsea.
    • 3' Some really bright play by Cole on the run. Mata caught offside seconds later when he seemed to be well onside.
    • 2' Benoit Assou-Ekotto having to come up with a brilliant intervention as Chelsea begin on the offensive. Spurs tested in the opening seconds.
    • 1' And off we go then. Plenty of noise at Stamford Bridge ahead of this one.
    • 19:40 Teams out on the park and we are almost ready to go in this one. On the day Sir Alex Ferguson retires as Manchester United manager, both of these teams get the chance to let us discuss something else. For the moment at least.
    • 19:35 Tottenham Hotspur have never won a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge in 20 visits. No side is currently on a longer run without victory at an opponent’s ground than Spurs against Chelsea. When Andre Villas-Boas was manager of Chelsea, he masterminded eight victories in 13 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge (62%).
    • 19:30 Chelsea coach Rafael Benitez is focused on Spurs rather than his future. "My future is Tottenham, after we will see. At the moment, I'm just thinking about Tottenham and what we could do. I have to keep doing my job, that is trying to prepare the team properly for every game, and the agents, they have to do their jobs."
    • 19:25 Tottenham captai Michael Dawson: "If we win our last three games we are in the Champions League. It's as simple as that. We haven't won here in a long time but we won at Old Trafford this season and there's now reason why we can't do that again."
    • 19:20 Andre Villas-Boas: "(Chelsea) is a club which I have gone past. I have good and bad memories like everyone else, but it was a period which did not finish the way I would have liked. (The race for a Champions League place) is still very, very open because of the remaining fixtures. Obviously if Chelsea win they are in (third) which means one less spot available and we wouldn't be depending on ourselves to achieve (a top-four finish)."
    • 19:15 Moussa Dembele misses out due to a hamstring injury which is a big low for a Tottenham midfield facing up to the formidable David Luiz. Emmanuel Adebayor also starts ahead of Jermain Defoe. Meanwhile, Chelsea leave John Terry, Frank Lampard and Demba Ba on the bench.
    • 19:10 TEAMS: Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Luiz. Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Torres. Subs: Turnbull, Terry, Lampard, Ake, Moses, Benayoun, Ba. /// Tottenham: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Huddlestone, Parker, Holtby, Adebayor, Bale. Subs: Friedel, Caulker, Naughton, Carroll, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Defoe.
    • 19:05 This game is massive in the battle for the top four. Chelsea are in third place with 68 points and a win today basically gives them a Champions League place for next season. Spurs are in fifth with 65 points, with Arsenal, who have played a game more, sandwiched in between on 67.

  4. Torres should be coming in only when Chelsea has an advantage. he is not precise in his shots n poor in flexibility. Lampard, Terry and Ba was the backborne in this bench unfortunately coach left them on bench. Benitez shld learn how the futbal chemistry btwn certain players works. You dont jst leave players on the bench when facing an ever unpredicably tactful team. Coach miscalculates every time and Chelsea has now lost their famous glory of winning with striking diffrence in goals and play. Bring the Special one here. Michael K. Mukopi NAIROBI-KENYA

  12. Leaving Ba and Lampard and Terry on the bench was a mistake. Benayoun (84) and Mosses(73) did not enter the game to gain advantage over physical Spurs. In my opinion, the substitution was poor and another dark side in Benite z's calculation. Ba and Lampard would have been a better choice. Torres was left in the game too long.
