    • 19.40 Five minutes to kick off. Match odds: Liverpool 2/5, Sunderland 15/2, Draw 7/2.
    • 19.35 Sunderland kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League in 2012, only Man City (17) kept more.
    • 19.30 Only Man Utd (5) have won more of their last six Premier League games than Liverpool (4).
    • 19.25 Luis Suarez will be equally important tonight. He has averaged 12.2 touches in the opposition box per game this season, no other player in the Premier League has more than 7.3.
    • 19.20 Steven Gerrard is one of only two midfielders/forwards in the Premier League this season to play every minute of every game. He has scored in each of Liverpool’s last two games at Anfield.
    • 19.15 Liverpool have won only two of their last seven Premier League games against Sunderland, after winning each of the previous six.
    • 19.10 Martin O'Neill: "There have been a number of enquiries about not only Ji, but a number of our players, and I am unable to tell you anything at this minute. All I can say just from the general viewpoint is it's been a frustrating time for him just recently. He played in the Olympics, he didn't always start the games, I know, for South Korea, but perhaps after that goal against Manchester City a year ago, maybe he was hoping it would be lift-off time for him. He's found it difficult."
    • 19.05 Liverpool: Reina, Wisdom, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Downing, Sterling, Suarez /// Sunderland: Mignolet; Gardner, Cuellar, Kilgallon, Rose; Johnson, Larsson, Colback, McClean; Sessegnon; Fletcher.
    • 19.00 Sunderland are without defender John O'Shea. The Republic of Ireland international damaged a hamstring during Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Tottenham, in which he had earlier given the Black Cats the lead, and is ruled out. Full-back Danny Rose returns to the squad after being ineligible against his parent club, but skipper Lee Cattermole and central defender Wes Brown (both knee) remain on the sidelines.
    • 18.55 Liverpool defender Jose Enrique misses tonight's match with a hamstring injury. Winger Stewart Downing, who has filled in at left-back previously, may be asked to provide cover again. Illness has been sweeping through the camp but the club are confident of keeping infection down to a minimum after midfielder Jordan Henderson and back-up goalkeeper Brad Jones were affected prior to Sunday's win over QPR.
    • 18.50 Today’s big news is the confirmation of the signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea for an estimated £12 million. Until then, Liverpool will be relying on the firepower of the prolific Luis Suarez up front.

  4. @Borat why do you always like to give s**t to Liverpool? i don't get it? are you even a real supporter? do you have real football spirit? i have supported Liverpool all my life! but i always show respect to United and to many other teams, yes i know we are no more than a Mid table team for now, but we will get there soon, atleast about 3 years from now, i see us going for a top 4 spot, even if we stay a mid table team all our lives! i don't care! because i love my team and nothing you or any other person can say will ever change my mind! YNWA! and please show some respect if you don't want to than that's your problem, and i really don't give a s**t ;)

  5. Excuse me, why are we discussing or talking about Man utd on this boards? Where have all these hateful Man utd supporters come from all of a sudden? I thought we Liverpool were supposed to be S&*t? That being the case you don't have to keep reminding us about it, leave us alone to get on with rebuilding our team and in turn you get on with trying to set a record of titles that you think that we'll never reach or over take. After all you're supposed to be the best team in the land so why do some of you so called supporters feel the need to keep coming onto Liverpool boards is beyond me. I would hazard a guess that it's not the real supporters who actually come from Manchester itself but a few of the token fans from afar who feel the need to voice themselves because they are not really man u fans just glory hunters and like to associate themselves with whichever team is on top. Real fans or supporters of any club are not so disrespectful to others because they know it's just a sport and the beauty of sport is that things can change in a flash.

  6. I'd really like to see Suso given a chance in central midfield between Gerrard and Lucas. Joe Allen just isn't up to it - can't head, can't tackle, creates nothing, slow, gives away too many free-kicks. Useless, in fact.

  7. No one,you thick #$%$I never go MIA,we were well and truely beaten,of course it wasnt our 1st 11 but we wouldnt have been good enough anyway. Jusy you concentrate on your own shyte long ball team. You know the ones STILL below us in the league Ha Ha Ha !! Well done Everton, easy away win v the new Stoke City !!!

  8. In all fairness Liverpool are not a one man team but without Suarez I wonder where they would be? He won't stay indefinitely and unless Liverpool make the Champions League this season or next (and let's be serious it ain't going to be this season) I think he'll be gone.

From Diogenes, on Thu 3 Jan 8:29
  9. Borat, enjoy your success while you can because Liverpool will win the league next season! Anyway there are still plenty of games left this season so you may bottle it again! It only takes a second to score a goal as you found out on the last day of the premier league last May!

  10. Hopefully we get to see Sturridge on the weekend against Mansfield. Rest everyone who played today and give the likes of Sahin and Assiadi a run out.

  12. Well done lads, well done. Hopefully this will satisfy some of the knockers. Rest this weekend and prepare for the big one next week. Good to see the likes of Lucas, Henderson and Downing back.

  13. Was interested to read what fans thought of the match here, but most seem to be crying about Manchester United? You give the impression that is more important than winning this match, or from inching a bit further away from relegation.... eyes on the prize? Bazza, I agree that the ratings are screwed up - how can Reina get 7.5 with 2 shots to save, while Mignolet saved 7 shots on target and was only rated 5.3... the numbers just don't add up - couple of numptys judging that

  17. Man U fans are so sad. The only good part of their team is up front, the rest wouldn't get into QPR! Champions league will show them up for the average team they are. Even i can see logic, not a football fan coz of all the #$%$ that Man U players have in their lives when they go behind their wives and brothers backs to get their end away!
