    • 57' Newcastle chance! Marveaux picks out Ameobi with a brilliant long ball that Ameobi takes down with a brilliant first touch, but then prods just wide.
    • 56' Marveaux makes a superb run forward but suddenly finds himself in the box and gives the ball straight to an Everton shirt.

    • - What are your thoughts on that half? Which way will it go in the second? Tweet me!

    • 41' Fellaini is fouled by Coloccini 30 yards from goal. It's a long way out but Baines is standing over it...
    • 40' Cisse is in the book for a late tackle on Baines.
    • 39' Phil Neville gets away with a clumsy challenge on Ameobi in the box. He gets the ball, but a bit of Ameobi too - although a penalty would have been harsh.
    • 38' Newcastle have steadied things now. Everton have enjoyed a strong 20 minutes or so but now the home side are finishing the half the stronger.

    • 15' Baines lays the ball back to Pienaar, who sends a teasing ball into the box. But Krul reads it to claim ahead of Fellaini.
    • 14' Newcastle have started with real verve and energy. They want to make a point that they can thrive without Ba.
    • 13' Everton have been exposed down their right side two or three times already.
    • 12' Obertan races down the left wing and drills a low ball across the face of goal, but it's just too far ahead of Cisse.

    • 5' Everton are all at sea. The Toffees just can't live with Newcastle at the moment.
    • 4' Almost a second for Cisse as Ameobi races down the left and flashes a low cross across the face of goal, with Cisse inches away from making contact.
    • 3' Awful goal to concede from an Everton point of view. Nobosy attacked the ball and Cisse just had to stretch his neck out and send a looping header over Howard.
    • 2' GOAL! Cisse has headed Newcastle ahead after Everton failed to deal with Tim Krul's long free-kick. Who needs Demba Ba anyway?
    • 1' KICK OFF. We are underway at St James's Park.
    • 19.55 The players are about to emerge from the tunnel at St James' Park. What's your prediction for this one? Tweet me!
    • 19.50 As for Everton, they travel to St James' Park knowing that their recent record there is poor, but David Moyes's side cannot afford many more slip-ups in the race for a Champions League spot.
    • 19.45 In losing a staggering game to Arsenal 7-3, they became the first side in Premier League history to lose back-to-back top-flight matches despite scoring three goals in each game - having also lost 4-3 to Manchester United on Boxing Day.
    • 19.40 2012 was a tale of two halves for Newcastle. For the first half they were superb, belying a wafer-thin squad to finish fifth in the league. But this campaign is not going as well and ever since manager Alan Pardew was handed his bumper contract extension until 2020 they have been in freefall.
    • 19.35 Newcastle will be looking to take advantage of Everton's leaky defence, but know that they possess a real threat in front of goal too. The Toffees have conceded in 15 consecutive Premier League games this season, the longest run of any side in the division. They have also scored in their last 17 league games, the best run in the top flight this season and their best since 24 in a row in 1985-86.
    • 19.30 The form book suggests an Everton win, particularly given the return of star man Marouane Fellaini. Alan Pardew's side have lost eight of their last 10 league fixtures, collecting six points out of 30. Meanwhile, defeat against Chelsea was only Everton's second loss in their last 17 league matches.
    • 19.25 But fellow midfielder Darron Gibson has been ruled out for a month with a thigh strain.
    • 19.20 Everton welcome back top scorer Marouane Fellaini after he completed a three-match suspension.
    • 19.15 Full-back Danny Simpson is out with a broken toe, while midfielder Yohan Cabaye and defender Steven Taylor are not fit enough for a first-team return.
    • 19.10 It is believed Ba's contract contains a clause which allows him to speak to other clubs in the event of a £7m bid. The Senegalese, who joined Newcastle from West Ham in June 2011, is currently joint-second top scorer in the Premier League with 13 goals.
    • 19.05 The big pre-match news is that Newcastle striker Demba Ba has been withdrawn from the squad after Chelsea triggered the release clause in his contract.

  7. It was a damn good win for Everton considering we had lost against Chelsea and Newcastle had a lot of possession in the second half of the game. It will be interesting to see what players David Moyes can conjure up this January in view of the losses made by the Club in the past financial year. Everton played very well and defended well after the silly goal scored by Newcastle. Anichebe has proved to be a very good player for us this season and deserves some credit for our present position in the EPL. I hope that Mirallas and Gibson will soom return for they are assets to the squad. It will be interesting to see how Everton compete in the immediate run of games for they are all games we should win if we are to achieve a top four place this season. There were certain games we should never have lost this season and the home game against Chelsea stands out above all others for we were the better side.
