    • FT Sunderland win 1-0 at Stadium of Light against Wigan Athletic to get their first win in 13 games.
    • 90+3 The wind again takes the ball away from McClean's feet as he winds up to shoot. Sunderland now just keeping the ball in the corner as they know they are nearly home and dry.
    • 90+1 Wigan still trying but Kone loses possession easily. Has not had a great game besides the clear-cut chance in the first-half.
    • 90 Webb announces five minutes of injury time following what has been a physical half for both teams. The red card earlier undoubtedly providing the bulk of that injury time.
    • 87' It's all getting a little heated as Caldwell comes into the back off Fletcher. Martin O'Neill sees it from the side and is waving his arms furiously at Howard Webb.
    • 85' Wigan are struggling still to find momentum. Will their substitutions have an affect?
    • 83' Larsson threads a ball through to Fletcher who is just offside. His shot is dragged wide but Sunderland still showing intent.
    • 81' DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION FOR WIGAN - Boyce comes off for Callum McManaman while Ryo Miyaichi comes on for McArthur.
    • 80' YELLOW CARD WIGAN - Di Santo receives a yellow card after chasing a ball that he just can't get hold of. Danny Rose is with him and Di Santo just catches him with his studs in what looks like a display of frustration.
    • 78' Sunderland keep pushing forward with Larsson but his long cross/shot goes just over Al Habsi's bar.
    • 77' SUBSTITUTION SUNDERLAND - Johnson goes off after a good stint back from injury. David Vaughan comes on for the final stages of the match
    • 75' Wigan trying to counter-attack now with Kone but he can't link up with Di Santo. They are not going to let this one go without a fight.
    • 74' Wigan looking more positive since the introduction of Di Santo. Just over 15 minutes to go now .
    • 72' Beausejour lays the ball off for Di Santo on the edge of the area but does not connect well. That might have landed in row Z. Could have done better.
    • 71' YELLOW CARD SUNDERLAND- McClean takes McCarthy out just outside the area and receives a yellow card. Free-kick Wigan.
    • 68' Crosses just keep coming in from Sunderland and every time Wigan get the ball their possession is short-lived. They are having to bring men back to defend the attacks from Sunderland and can't find any momentum going forward.
    • 67' Nothing comes of the corner from Larsson and finally Wigan have the ball back.
    • 66' Johnson swings it in with his left-foot and Al Habsi just flicks it away from Fletcher for a corner.
    • 65' Sessegnon is taken down by Figueroa on the far-side of the pitch. Free-kick for Sunderland.
    • 63' YELLOW CARD SUNDERLAND - Fletcher's leg is a bit high when the ball comes down for Figueroa. No complaints there.
    • 62' Sunderland have had 61% possession now and are again driving forward.
    • 60' SUBSTITUTION WIGAN - Di Santo is on for Maloney
    • 58' Maybe I spoke too soon. Franco Di Santo looks to be warming up on the sidelines. Back from a calf injury, he might just be what Wigan need to get back in this game.
    • 57' Wigan look frustrated and McCarthy lets it be known with a strong challenge in the middle of the pitch. Still Sunderland pour forward with no response from Wigan.
    • 56' Wigan cannot get hold of the ball and there is a huge amount of space - space that Gomez used to occupy.
    • 54' Sunderland have another great chance. McClean again whips a great low cross across the six-yard box but there is nobody on the end of it. It's all Sunderland here. Will they finally break that 12 game streak without a win?
    • 52' CHANCE FOR SUNDERLAND! Wigan look vulnerable. Sessegnon hits a right-footed shot to Al Habsi's right and the keeper only just manages to keep it out. Very close indeed.
    • 50' GOAL SUNDERLAND!!! Immediately Sunderland take advantage. Steven Fletcher latches onto a misguided shot from McClean. The ball blasts across the area and Fletcher like any good striker is waiting on the back post to put it in the top right -hand corner past Al Habsi.
    • 48' Rose is limping slightly but seems ok. Wigan manager Roberto Martinez does not look ok however - the worst possible start to his team's second half.
    • 47' RED CARD WIGAN - Jordi Gomez comes in with a crunching tackle on Danny Rose just inside the Wigan half. His studs are up and Howard Webb is quick to hand out the red card.
    • 46' And we are off again at the Stadium of Light.
    • HT 0 - 0 What a half that was. Both teams had their fair share of chances but it's still a deadlock. Mignolet's save from Kone has to be the best chance for the Latics so far.
    • 45+1 Webb gives one minute of extra time
    • 44' The cross is put deep into the Wigan box and Al Habsi again has to come off his line and punch it away. The wind causing a few issues again.
    • 43' Johnson threads Larsson down the right wing and Larsson manages to hit it off McArthur to get a corner.
    • 42' WHAT A SHOT!!! McCarthy picks the ball up 20 yards from the Sunderland goal and drives a powerful shot. Just goes wide to Mignolet's right. Great effort.
    • 40' The momentum seems to have died down a little and it's no surprise after the 40 minutes we have had so far. A few passes are squandered by both teams - getting a little scrappy in the midfield.
    • 38' Sunderland have now conceded 10 fouls in this match.
    • 37' Wigan have another free-kick and play it wide to Boyce. Boyce crosses but Kone fails to get any accuracy on his header and fires it over Mignolet.
    • 35' Yellow for Wigan's James McArthur after a late challenge on Sessegnon in the centre circle.
    • 33' Gomez threads the ball to Kone but he can't get enough of a connection on his shot and scuffs a left-foot shot from the edge of the area into Mignolet's hands.
    • 31' Nothing comes of it and Sunderland look to break again. Sessegnon and Fletcher are linking up nicely so far in this match.
    • 30' Larsson fouls Kone in the centre circle and it's a free-kick to Wigan.
    • 29' The pressure seems to be relieved and Al Habsi is taking his time. His players need a breather after that wave of pressure from Sunderland.
    • 28' McClean takes on Boyce and manages to whip a cross in from the left, goes out for a corner.
    • 26' WHAT A CHANCE!! Larsson puts a great ball into the box. Ivan Ramis blocks it on the line as Al Habsi looks beaten to his right. The cross comes in and is headed wide by Fletcher. Al-Habsi caught in no mans land.
    • 25' It comes to nothing as it's driven into the wall. However there is another chance as Steven Fletcher is fouled on the left hand side of the pitch, just on the sideline. Larsson will whip it in.
    • 24' Johnson is taken down just outside the Wigan box and it's a free-kick. Larsson is standing over it and looks like taking it.
    • 23' Stat from Infostrada: "Wigan have scored in eight of their nine league matches at Sunderland."
    • 22' Craig Gardener receives the ball from Sessegnon about 20 yards from the Wigan goal. Let's a shot go but that wind seems to have got hold of it as it sails over Al Habsi.
    • 20' Jordi Gomez is fouled in the centre circle by Jack Colback. The ball is lobbed into the Sunderland area but a strong header from Bramble clears the danger.
    • 19' Sunderland are maintaining good possession now and are keen to test the Wigan defence in the air. McClean especially looks like he could be providing a few aerial challenges for the Wigan defence.
    • 17' Howard Webb will be busy this afternoon it seems with six fouls already in the match.
    • 16' There are boos ringing out from the Sunderland fans after McCarthy takes Sessegnon down, but no foul.
    • 15' Looks like a breakthrough is not far off here. It's end-to-end stuff.
    • 13' WHAT A SAVE!! Great save by Mignolet after a cross is whipped in from the left hand side by Beausejour. Kone latches onto it but cannot guide it in as Mignolet dives to his left to save Sunderland.
    • 12' Gap opens up for Sebastian Larsson on the edge of the Wigan box, but the shot is dragged wide to Al Habsi's right. It looks pretty windy at the Stadium of Light so expect a few shots to go a little off target.
    • 11' Sessegnon looks lively today, already causing a few problems for the Wigan defence. Gomez brings down Danny Rose for a free kick to Sunderland in their own half.
    • 10' Sessegnon is fouled by Gary Caldwell, who clambers over him when trying to win the header in the middle of the Wigan half. The free-kick is driven into Aroune Kone.
    • 8' Johnson shows his quality on the right-hand side but gives a foul away after Jean Beausejour goes down when trying to tackle him. Debatable foul but sure it won't be the last time that Johnson is involved in a move today.
    • 7' Stephane Sessegnon makes a run, beating a couple of challenges but the cross from Maynor Figueroa is squandered.
    • 6' Shaun Maloney already making a nuisance of himself up front with a few darting runs. It's going to be a long afternoon for the Sunderland defence.
    • 5' Wigan passing the ball around nicely and look to exploit the space on the left-hand side.
    • 3' McCarthy has a clear chance on goal when a clearance is fumbled down at the Sunderland end. Hits it with his left foot but saved by Mignolet.
    • 2' Al Habsi's clearance is charged down and for a moment Wigan look under serious pressure. A wild cross fires out though relieving the danger.
    • 1' Wigan get us underway. Sunderland get the ball straight away and show their intent. This should be a good one.
    • 14:55 Five minutes to go until kick-off at the Stadium of Light. The sun in shining and the Sunderland fans look up for this one. Keep your thoughts coming on Twitter throughout the match by using the link below.
    • 14:45 Will the absence of Cattermole hamper Sunderland today? Will the addition of Johnson help unlock the Wigan defence? Or will Wigan's strong form earlier in the week help them to victory today? Have your say on Twitter. Follow James Bass on Twitter
    • 14:42 Stat from Infostrada: "There hasn't been a goalless draw between the teams in 15 matches in all competitions, since they drew 0-0 at Wigan in Division One in April 2004."
    • 14:38 Wigan manager Roberto Martinez: "Nothing gives you that strength that a winning feeling gives you. I would say that looking at the start of the season it’s been a good start, without being an excellent start from a points point of view. I’m very happy with the competition for places and with the look the squad has at the current time and I’m very much looking forward to the next three or four games. We don’t want to be a team that just fights against relegation.”
    • 14:35 Wigan have opted for a 3-4-3 formation with the in-form Arouna Kone leading the strike force. Many thought Roberto Martinez would include Mauro Boselli up front after his brace against West Ham earlier in the week in the Capital One Cup but he starts on the bench today.
    • 14:30 Sunderland head into today's match with an unwanted run of 0 wins in the past 12 games in the Premier League. The Black Cats will be hoping to change that today and will be boosted by Martin O'Neill's decision to start Adam Johnson after passing a late fitness test. They will however be without Lee Cattermole after his red card earlier in the week against MK Dons, leaving John O'Shea with the armband today.
