    • 86' Chris Brunt volleys a wonderful strike into the bottom corner but Mignolet is equal to it and beats the ball away. You've got to say Bramble must do better to stop Brunt even getting that opportunity. Poor clearing header.
    • 85' West Brom are desperately trying to take the sting out of the game and Fortune does well to roll Vaughan who fouls the West Brom man.
    • 84' James Morrison has worked tirelessly this game but comes off for Marc Antoine Fortune.
    • 83' More pressure through the energetic Sessegnon who has been excellent this afternoon. It comes to nothing though as Gardner's cross goes high over the crossbar.
    • 82' Sessegnon blazes a half-volley over the bar from the edge of the area.
    • 80' West Brom now with the ball in the sunderland half. Lukaku causing more problems with his strength.

    • 76' James Mclean takes the place of Johnson on the left wing.
    • 74' LUKAKU SCORES. Amazing goal as Lukaku sprints away from O'Shea before Bramble's underhit backpass is run down by the striker. Mignolet tries to clear but it ricochets off Lukaku's legs and rebounds in to the goal.
    • 73' Great spread of play by Morrison who hits the ball with the outside of his boot out to the left where Brunt crosses only to not find anyone with a dangerous looking cross towards the penalty spot.
    • 72' West Brom slow the game down by just popping the ball about down their left. Sunderland are pressing but the ball up to Lukaku causes them more problems. Mignolet manages to clear though.
    • 71' Finally a minute where nothing happens. Just some ping-pong possession between the teams in midfield.
    • 70' It is the big man again. A corner is crossed in but Lukau retrieves it at the far post. He cuts inside on to his left foot before drilling the ball at Mignolet who saves again.
    • 69' Brilliant from West Brom. Chris Brunt cuts inside on his right foot from the edge of the area and lays the ball to Dorrans who crosses to Morrison who is steaming in but O'Shea just gets a touch on it before the Scot swept home. Great defending. Great football.
    • 68' Mulumbu runs with the ball and cuts inside on to his favoured right boot. He shoots from the edge of the area but Mignolet gets everything behind it and saves easily.
    • 67' Johnson with a free kick from the right. He swings it in to the box but it is again cleared easily by West Brom who press well to send the ball all the way back to Mignolet.
    • 66' Shane Long makes way for Graham Dorrans.
    • 65' N'Diaye carries the ball the length of the field but is chased all the way by Morrison who slides in to tackle the Sunderland man.
    • 64' Lukaku again bullies his way past O'Shea and Gardner but his shot is dragged as he struck it off balance. It goes wide of the post.
    • 63' Lukaku again with the big chance for West Brom. He is slipped in after Brunt nicks the ball from Larsson and passes to the left of the penalty area. He slams the ball with his left foot but Mignolet is equal to it.
    • 62' Beautiful lay off from Long on his chest finds Mulumbu but he can't get the ball out to Reid free on the right. Sunderland now with the ball in midfield.
    • 61' The game is getting a bit disjointed at the moment. Lots of niggly free-kicks that the players don't think are free-kicks. The latest, Larsson with a high boot against Yacob.
    • 60' Bramble, on a yellow card, ploughs through the back of Long with his studs and is lucky not to be given a red card. The referee gives him a final talking to.
    • 59' West Brom enjoy their first bit of controlled possession of the half. They work the ball to Morrison on the edge of the area but his final touch to get away from Bramble doesn't trick the defender and he clears.
    • 58' Brunt swings it in and Olsson rises above everyone to glance the ball on but he gets too much on it and it goes out for a goal-kick.
    • 57' O'Shea berates the referee as he gives a foul for a push on Long. Wide right with Brunt standing over it.
    • 56' Sunderland have come out fighting as they control almost all the possession so far. West Brom look comfortable at the moment.
    • 55' A fantastic cross from N'Diaye on the left swings over Olsson's head and almost finds Graham but he can't get enough contact to get it on target.
    • 54' Larsson throws the ball in the box and the header is won by Bramble but Ridgewell clears. Sunderland have the ball with Johnson on the left.
    • 53' Well, Sunderland have come out fighting as they get forward more often and in more numbers. A dangerous cross from Gardner is cleared by Reid but Sunderland win a free-kick wide on the left.
    • 52' Shane Long with the ball in the penalty area after a chipped through ball by Morrison. He gets a shot away but it is blocked for a corner.
    • 51' Lukaku bears in on goal again but is stopped bu O'Shea witha great recovery challenge.
    • 50' Corner to Sunderland finds Sessegnon at the far post with the goal gaping. His prod at goal only finds Mulumbu on the post who clears.
    • 49' Ridgewell again the insitgator of a move forward as he nods the ball on to Long. The ball drops on the bounce to Morrison in the middle of the park but his audacious attempt at a volley goes almost into orbit. Goal kick.
    • 48' Ridgewell is finding all kinds of space to run in to down Sunderland's right. He puts another good ball in to Lukaku but the Belgian just can't reach it and it goes behind.
    • 47' A quick spate of Sunderland pressure is dealt with by West Brom and they are with the ball in the middle of the park.
    • 46' And we're off in the second half. Sunderland have a lot to do if they want to turn things around. West Brom just need to maintain their tempo and they'll see this game out.
    • Will Sunderland's poor form against top half teams continue or can they turn this game around? Tweet me @G_Pavlou what you think... FOLLOW
    • 45+2 And that is half-time. After a quiet opening twenty minutes, the game sprung into life and we now have fifteen minutes to get our breath back.
    • 45+1 Sunderland come forward through Johnson on the left. He jinks into the penalty area and gets himself a yard before blasting the ball into the box. McCauley throws himself at it and it seems to strike his hand but the referee says no and it goes for a corner.
    • 45' Morrison crosses beautifully for Long who rises high at the far post but somehow gets underneath the header and the attempt goes way over the crossbar.
    • 44' Lukaku is a beast. He nutmegs the defender on the halfway line before ploughing his way past Larsson with his pace and power. As he gets into the penalty area he slows and just miscontrols the ball and it is cleared.
    • 43' Sunderland are trying to settle themselves before the break with some controlled possession in midfield but as they try to move the ball forward, West Brom compress the space and win the ball back.
    • 41' Brunt's free-kick is poor by his high-standards. He just floats the ball in and that is easy for Mignolet. He sends the ball forward to Sessegnon quickly who is fouled on the halfway line.
    • 40' Shane Long absolutely tears away from Titus Bramble who cynically steps across the Irishman and concedes a free-kick wide on the right but close to the penalty area.
    • 39' You wouldn't know that Sunderland are only 1-0 down as their defending has become desperate. Larsson and N'Diaye take three attempts to hack the ball away from Mulumbu on the edge of the area.
    • 38' Lukaku again winning his duel to set West Brom up in Sunderland's half. He has been a real menace as Brunt, Mulumbu and Morrison try to play through the middle but they are stopped by O'Shea.
    • 37' Sessegnon has been a real outlet for Sunderland going forward but as he attempts to take on Ridgewell, the left back gets some help from Mulumbu to win a goal-kick.
    • 36' West Brom continue to pour forward with a free-kick wide left. Brunt swings it in and of all people, Shane Long, rises highest and heads wide of the goal. Perhaps should've done better.
    • 35' GOAL. Lukaku tucks it away low to the keepers right but Mignolet guessed the wrong way. West Brom take a deserved lead having upped the tempo in the last ten minutes.
    • 34' PENALTY WEST BROM. The pressure had been building and the ball found its way to Ridgewell who crossed from the left. Gardner jumped to block but his arms were out from his body and as the ball struck his arms, the referee pointed to the spot. Lukaku to take.
    • 32' Graham and Fletcher are having a hard time holding the ball up as the ball finds itself out to Reid. He lobs the ball up to Lukaku but the ref spots a push from the Belgian on Gardner.
    • 31' Brunt and Reid stand over the ball but it is Reid who takes. His shot goes straight into the wall though.
    • 30' Morrison is fouled on the edge of the area and the referee blows his whistle before seeing Lukaku bearing down on goal and slotting past Mignolet. Free kick edge of the area though.
    • 29' West Brom are starting to take control of this game as Sunderland's players start making more and more mistakes. The latest leads to another couple of dangerous crosses from Morrison and Brunt.
    • 28' Ridgewell storms down the left to set up a cross but it goes too far right. Morrison rescues it and plays the ball back out to Ridgewell whose cross is superb and is met by Mulumbu six yards out of the goal, dead centre. He manages to glance the ball past the post and Sunderland get away with one.
    • 27' West Brom are just starting to find some space and some gaps in Sunderlands midfield. A through ball to Long is snuffed out by Colback as he bore down on goal.
    • 26' This game has sparked into life in the past few minutes with chances at both ends. Sessegnon's latest attempt to set up a goal sees a deflection take the ball into Foster's arms.
    • 25' Morrison overlaps Lukaku on the right wing and flashes a shot across the face of goal only for no-one to dart in and be on the end of it.
    • 24' BIG CHANCE. Yacob fails to deal with the ball on the edge of the area and it is played to Fletcher by Graham. He sidefoots the ball onto the post while West Brom scramble their defence together only for Fletcher to blast his second opportunity over the bar. Big let off.
    • 23' And the pressure turns in to a half-chance. Ridgewell swings a cross in to Lukaku who rises above everyone else but his header glances wide of the post.
    • 22' West Brom have slightly upped their tempo and now are seeing more of the ball. Unfortunately they cannot seem to find a way to pass through the Sunderland midfield and a long ball sees Long chasing it out for a throw-in.
    • 21' A tangle between Brunt and Sessegnon sees the West Brom man plough into the back of his opposite number. Somehow he comes off the worse for wear but recovers to defend the free-kick.
    • 20' Sessegnon takes on Brunt and Ridgewell down the left and wins his team a throw-in. But the pass to Fletcher sees the Scot foul his marker and give away possession back to West Brom.
    • 19' Danny Graham's second involvement in a Sunderland shirt is to again, be offside.
    • 18' Bit of a naughty challenge from Reid on N'Diaye as the Sunderland man tries to turn out of trouble. The ref deems it a foul but takes no further action.
    • 17' West Brom now with the ball but going nowhere fast. They use their outball to Lukaku well but the support play is not there for the big-man. Mulumbu retrieves possession though.
    • 16' Adam Johnson slips the ball in to Fletcher down the left channel but a clever turn from the Scot tricks Yacob who gives away a foul. Sunderland's centre backs are up but Larsson's free kick doesn't beat the first man.
    • 15' I don't think Steve Clarke will be too happy with this start. Though Sunderland have not had a clear chance, they've started better and have controlled possession slightly better.
    • 14' Lukaku is unable to gain control of a long-ball an dit runs out for a goal-kick. Sunderland now with the ball through N'Diaye who keeps running the wings and causing problems for West Brom.
    • 13' West Brom win a free-kick after a trip from N'Diaye. Looks like Brunt to load it in to Lukaku but Colback clears.
    • 12' Jack Colback keeps Sunderland ticking over with possession in the middle of the park. The visitiors are starting to move the ball around but as they approach the West Brom penalty area, they are snuffed out and West Brom take control.
    • 11' The game has yet to get going with both teams just feeling eachother out a bit. No-one really has much control as they battle it out for superiority in this match.
    • 10' Morrison sportingly kicks the ball back to Sunderland after the injury stoppage. Sunderland back on the front foot.
    • 9' Seconds after clearing for the corner, McCauley clears the corner but finds himself in a Bramble-Foster sandwich. He is winded and play has stopped.
    • 8' N'Diaye breaks down the right wing and takes on Olsson who can't stop the cross but McCauley behind him clears for a corner which comes to nothing.
    • 7' Sunderland win a corner that Johnson swings in to the near post. O'Shea flicks the ball on but Foster catches easily at the front post. West Brom counter but Brunt's long range effort sees him only apologising to his teammates for a poor decision. Well over the bar.
    • 6' Lukaku rises highest from a deep free kick but his downward header finds only Bramble who nods the ball calmly back to Mignolet.
    • 5' Danny Graham's first involvement on his full debut for Sunderland is to run offside as Fletcher tried to find him with a ball over the top.
    • 4' The visitors are moving the ball well and a move starts with Johnson travelling with the ball across the pitch to the right wing. N'Diaye makes a darting run forward but the pass is overhit and the ball runs out for a goal-kick.
    • 3' Sunderland with their first bit of controlled possession. Just popping the ball about at the back before launching forward to Fletcher. Now with Johnson on the left wing.
    • 2' West Brom get the ball forward quickly to Lukaku and immediately flood players around him for support. O'Shea and Bramble so far marshalling the Sunderland defence well. Pretty obvious how West Brom are going to play this one.
    • 1' The match is underway. West Brom will kick us off shooting from left-to-right.
    • 14:55 Five minutes before kick-off and the players are out of the tunnel, doing the pre-match formalities. West Brom can leapfrog Liverpool into 7th place with a win today. At worst they'll remain where they are in 9th. Sunderland are on 29 points and a win today could take them level on points with Fulham and just a point behind Stoke to 11th place.
    • 14:50 Just ten minutes to go before kick-off and here are the current odds. West Brom to win - 21/20. Sunderland to win - 3/1. Lukaku is 4/1 to be first goalscorer. If you don't fancy the Belgian, Shane Long and Steven Fletcher can be found at 11/2 as first goalscorers.
    • 14:45 And now time for some stats. West Brom have not lost to Sunderland in their last six Premier League meetings, winning five and drawing one. The Mackems have not won any of their last three league games and have the third lowest average possession of 43.3% this season. The omens do not look good for Sunderland as they have won only one of 14 games against top-half opposition this season.
    • 14:40 Martin O'Neill having returned from the warm weather training trip to Dubai: "I’m hoping the players are much more refreshed and with 12 games to go I feel it was very beneficial. I’ve been on these sort of trips before with mixed degrees of success. But I’ve been a big fan of the idea of a winter break for some time and I feel right now that it has been a benefit to us. We’ve got slightly less than a third of the season to go and there’s a lot of points to play for."
    • 14:35 Steve Clarke: "I don’t really look at doing a double over a team. Our performance at Sunderland was really good so we’ve got good memories of playing against them, but in recent weeks they have tightened up a lot. They have started picking up good results and they are stronger defensively than maybe they were earlier in the season. We expect a really difficult challenge."
    • 14:30 The big news for West Brom is the return of Peter Odemwingie. After failing miserably to force a move on deadline day to QPR, the striker finds himself returning from exile with a place on the bench. Goran Popov serves the second of his three-game ban after being sent off against Spurs with Ridgewell deputising at left-back. And finally, Romelu Lukaku returns to the starting line-up to partner Shane Long up-front.
    • 14:25 Five million pound man Danny Graham gets his first start under Martin O'Neill following his deadline day move to Sunderland. Loanee Danny Rose has missed out as he is back at Tottenham being assessed for a hamstring injury he sustained recently. And finally, skipper Lee Cattermole misses out as he is nursing a knee injury.
    • 14:20 WEST BROM: Foster, Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Morrison, Yacob, Mulumbu, Brunt, Lukaku, Long. SUBS: Myhill, Jones, Odemwingie, Tamas, Rosenberg, Fortune, Dorrans /// SUNDERLAND: Mignolet, Gardner, Colback, O'Shea (c), Bramble, N'Diaye, Larsson, Johnson, Sessegnon, Graham, Fletcher. SUBS: Bardsley, Kilgallon, Vaughan, Mangane, McClean, Cuellar, Westwood.
    • 14:15 Hello and welcome to live coverage of West Brom vs Sunderland. The Baggies find themselves comfortably in the top half of the table while Sunderland's recent good form has dragged them out of the relegation scrap. Kick-off at The Hawthorns in 45 minutes.
  • Summary

    • 90+3 James Mcclean misses a sitter. A high cross isn't dealt with as Fletcher heads across goal. The Irish winger can't get his head over the ball as he hits it on the half-volley and it flies over the bar. Definitely last chance there.
