    • Sunderland
    • 90+3' That's it, full time. An easy Arsenal victory against a diabolical Sunderland.
    • 90+2' Wilshere has his cross headed away as Giroud was setting himself up for a bicycle kick.
    • 90+1' There are going to be three added minutes of this.
    • 89' Flamini wins a tackle with Bardsley on the right wing, but gets lucky with the deflection and Arsenal have a goal kick.
    • 88' Cazorla slips in Podolski on the left, and his cross is blocked for a corner. Cazorla takes short and his pass is cut out for a throw.
    • 86' Arsenal have a free kick in their half, and start another round of passing.
    • 84' Gnabry has a low shot from the edge of the box, but it's straight at Mannnone. Scocco tries his luck from range, but it's over.
    • 83' Sunderland score! No, not really.
    • 81' GOAL! Arsenal 4-1 Sunderland. Giaccherini scores. Szczesny punches clear to Giaccherini. He sets himself up and belts a great shot low into ther corner. The comeback is ON.
    • 80' A more open game in midfield than at any point of the game, but Arsenal are defending well enough. Giroud concedes a foul on Larsson.
    • 78' Larsson takes, but it's just wide of the goal. The 'keeper was beaten.
    • 77' Jenkinson concedes a foul just outside the box. Sunderland have an attempt on goal coming any second now.
    • 76' Wilshere slips in Gnabry on the inside right, and as he shoots, he slips, and Mannone saves.
    • 75' Giaccherini is tackled by Sagna in the box, in an unfamiliar (but not unknown) centre-back position.
    • 74' The game continues to draw to an obvious conclusion.
    • 73' The enjoyably-named Scocco replaces Ki, and Gnabry replaces Rosicky.
    • 71' Arsenal play 300 successive passes as Sunderland stand and watch.
    • 69' A cross to Larsson at the back post, who lays it off to the oncoming Ki who shins it to the near post, Szczesny diving to his left to save.
    • 68' Arsenal don't care, and it seems like Sunderland never did. Both teams will be grateful for the match to end.
    • 67' Flamini comes on to replace Koscielny, so there'll be some tactical rejigging.
    • 66' Kosciely has gone down injured, it's not clear why. Flamini is warming up so it looks like he's not going to continue.
    • 65' Koscielny comes in with an utterly ludicrous lunge on Borini, who makes the most of the challenge in his reaction, and wins a foul on the right. Larsson takes, it finds Alonso on the edge of the box, whose volley finds Bardsely in so much space, but the defender is offsie.
    • 64' Mertesacker is across quickly to block Giaccherini's cross, intended for Colback. Sagna volleys away the resulting throw-in.
    • 63' Giroud ambles off the pitch and will be called back on imminently. For now, Sunderland have the ball.
    • 62' Giroud is fouled by O'Shea, blocking off his run, and Giroud has gone down injured.
    • 61' Arsenal's crowd finally chant. All it takes is four goals!
    • 60' Mertesacker wins a goal kick as Giaccherini manages to get into the box.
    • 59' This game is finished now, obviously.
    • 57' GOAL! Arsenal 4-0 Sunderland. Koscielny scores from the corner. Cazorla curls in a corner and totally unmarked, Kosciely heads down, low and past a static Mannone.
    • 56' Rosicky finds Giroud, who holds the ball up. The ball is played out to Sagna, and Vergini tries to volley clear, but slices it out, almost into the goal at the far post, but out for a corner on the right.
    • 55' Much the same for this minute as the previous 10.
    • 54' Sunderland continue to dominate possession and territory, but it's essentially moot now.
    • 53' Sagna curls in a left-footed cross that's claimed easily by Mannone.
    • 52' Giroud is pulled down by Giaccherini on the left wing, and he's booked for his trouble.
    • 51' Giaccherini takes a short corner and sends in a low cross from just outside the box, but Arsenal manage to clear. Sunderland are back in the match, but that is unlikely to mean anything. Borini sends in a low cross which is cleared again.
    • 50' Borini is slipped in towards the goal, and from a tight angle he blasts a high shot that's palmed away for a corner. Larsson takes, but the ball is cleared.
    • 49' Monreal had to leave the pitch because of an ankle injury, so Sagna has shifted over to the left. Sunderland have dominated possession in the start of the second half, and Arsenal have started slower.
    • 48' At the top of the table, Manchester City are still drawing 0-0 with Stoke City. At the moment, after their victory against Everton, Chelsea are four points clear.
    • 47' Monreal has been replaced by Jenkinson, and Giaccherini and Larsson are on to replace Altidore and Johnson.
    • 46' Sunderland get the half underway, and both sides have made changes for the remaining period.
    • 45+1' Arsenal with another attack down the right, but Wilshere is tackled by Ki, and the ref whistles for half-time.
    • 45' Sunderland have a break forward, but Arsenal press them as soon as Sunderland step into their half and win the ball back.
    • 44' Sunderland have been utter, utter filth. Given Poyet's showing at Brighton, which was lots of nice-looking football but with an absence of real grit, you have to wonder - with the advantage of hindsight - why he was appointed to a club in the middle of a relegation scrap.
    • 42' GOAL! Arsenal 3-0 Sunderland! Rosicky scores. Wilshere lays the ball off to Rosicky, who finds Cazorla, who finds Rosicky again. Rosicky plays a one-two with Giroud, on the edge of the box, and he chases towards goal and dinks Mannone for a great team goal.
    • 41' Monreal is tackled by Bardsley on the left wing, and Arsenal have a throw high up on the left.
    • 40' Sunderland are now doing their impression of Barcelona, and Arsenal are happy to let them have the ball in defence for as long as they want, because as soon as they aim a ball forward, Arsenal win it back.
    • 38' Alonso trips Wilshere as he chugs towards the centre of the pitch. Arsenal start their less-than-sterile domination again.
    • 37' The corner comes to nothing and Sunderland clear. A lull in the game, now.
    • 36' Podolski's effort ricochets off Bardsley, deflects it behind for a corner and the two collide, but are OK.
    • 35' Wilshere slips the ball in to Giroud on the edge of the box, and Vergini pulls Giroud to the ground, gifting Arsenal a free kick just inside the D.
    • 34' Cazorla aims a cross towards Koscielny, who hadn't retreated from the corner, and he attempts a flick-on towards Mertesacker, but it drifts out for a goal kick.
    • 33' Arsenal win a free kick on the left, but it's cleared at the near post. It comes out for Sagna, 35 yards out, and he strikes the ball off Colback and it's out for another corner. Cazorla takes, but Altidore heads away.
    • 31' GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland. Giroud scores after a mix up. Mannone passes to Vergini, swaps the ball with Bardsley on the right. He gets the ball back and sends a daft pass back to his keeper. Giroud jogs towards the ball, and with one touch nutmegs Mannone and Giroud doubles Arsenal's lead.
    • 30' Rosicky decides to have a shot from distance, and Mannone collects the ball smartly, just as it dipped before him.
    • 29' Arsenal aren't showing much urgency. That's either confidence or tiredness, possibly a mixture of both. Either way they are not apparently desperate to score another, which is a risky approach.
    • 28' Sunderland have the ball in defence, send it long, and now Arsenal are back with the ball, as appears to be match tradition.
    • 27' Arsenal continue to press, and Arteta starts a move on the right that ends with Sagna getting cleaned out by Colback. He was lucky not to be penalised, as it was an obvious foul.
    • 26' Sagna bundles over Ki on the left wing, with a strong shoulder barge, and he isn't punished for it. Arsenal then swap passes between defence and midfield and slowly edge forward into Sunderland's half.
    • 24' Johnson whips in a ball into the six-yard box that Koscielny does well to head behind for a corner. Johnson takes the corner, and this time Szczesny comes to the back post to collect.
    • 23' Sunderland have a rare jaunt forward, and win a free kick on the left of the area, about 40 yards out.
    • 21' Wilshere lays the ball off to Podolski, lurking on the edge of the box. From 25 yards out he blasts the ball towards the top corner, and Mannone does well to tip the ball behind. Mertesacker heads the corner over at the near post.
    • 20' Fabio Borini breaks down the left wing, jinks inside, and instead of doing anything constructive, he simply ran straight into Mikel Arteta.
    • 19' Sunderland keep the ball for 10 seconds before Arsenal relieve them of the stress of passing. Rosicky breaks and sends in a cross that's easily intercepted.
    • 18' Arsenal are camped in the Sunderland half. Wilshere aims a through-ball behind the defence for Monreal but Wilshere's pass is overhit. Sunderland then win a throw in Arsenal's half on the right wing.
    • 17' Arsenal have had 79% of possession so far. Stats are wonderful things. Podolski attempts a 1-2 with Giroud this time, but Giroud's flick is cut out.
    • 16' Cazorla takes, and O'Shea clears initially. Sunderland break down the left, and Alonso sends in a low cross for Borini, the cross is deflected back towards goal, and the keeper adjusts smartly to stop.
    • 15' Podolski is lurking on the left after bringing down a high ball from Rosicky, but Bardsley comes across to tackle and concede a corner on the left wing.
    • 13' Rosicky attempts to play a 1-2 with Giroud, but Giroud's chipped return is cut out by one of the 1,400,236 Sunderland defenders massed around the box, and Sunderland clear.
    • 12' Still no trouble for Arsenal, as Sunderland appear as toothless ever.
    • 10' Mertesacker leaves a high ball for Szczesny to claim, which he does authoritatively, but also clumps Borini in the process, who was charging him down, and is now receiving treatment.
    • 9' Santi Cazorla collects the ball in the box after Rosicky toes the ball towards him. He takes a couple of touches towards the centre of the area and sends a low shot into Mannone.
    • 8' Arsenal have a free kick to the right of the area, Cazorla takes and Sunderland head away.
    • 6' Arsenal win the ball back from the restart and are back stroking the ball across the pitch.
    • 5' GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Sunderland. Giroud scores. Wilshere collects a calm ball inside from Rosicky, he bursts into the box, slides the ball to his right under pressure from four defenders. His pass finds Giroud, and he slides the ball low into the corner of the goal.
    • 4' Arsenal continue with more of the same.
    • 3' Sunderland are sitting deep, but Arsenal are passing quickly in attempt to find some space by pulling players out of position. Sagna's cross is wallopped across goal, and Colback strikes Giroud, who is caught unawares.
    • 2' Nothing of note so far, but Arsenal are in charge of the ball in midfield as they look to find an opening.
    • 1' Arsenal kick off, and if they don't win today I think it will be quite literally CRISIS POINT.
    • 14:55 Roberto Di Matteo is in the crowd, which begs the inevitable question - is he going to replace Wenger if Arsenal fail to win today? That is a staggering development if true, but also one that I just made up. With five minutes to go, let's have a prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland.
    • 14:50 If you'd like to get in touch with me throughout the game, or later - in the middle of the night next Wednesday, say - you can follow me on Twitter at @lxndrnthrtn. Digital inclusivity is a wonderful thing.
    • 14:45 Nacho Monreal starts, for a change, replacing Kieran Gibbs at left-back. Monreal is that rare success for Wenger - a well-priced, affordable and reliable squad player. If Arsenal had more of them they wouldn't be constantly teetering on the edge of an implosion, but where's the fun in doing it any other way?
    • 14:40 It's quite difficult to spin anything out of that comment, as it is especially dull. Poyet hasn't spoken to Mannone about it, so we can assume he doesn't really mind. Do you really mind? I don't really mind. It would be good for Sunderland to win though, for the club. Same for Arsenal. If they win, I mean.
    • 14:35 Gus Poyet: "This game for him (Mannone) should be a great day. He needs to take it as a very enjoyable day and not that he has something to prove, because then he will change the whole approach and the whole feeling during the game. I haven't talked to him, to be honest, I am trying to give the same importance as any other game to this one, no more than normal."
    • 14:30 Wenger has continued his support for Ozil by dropping him entirely from the squad today. It's nevertheless understandable - Ozil's form has been poor since November, as there's little sign of it coming back soon. It's no surprise that he's struggled to succeed and adapt straight away to Arsenal and England, given Arsenal didn't rectify their fundamental flaws with his signing, merely distracted from them.
    • 14:25 Arsene Wenger: "Ozil apologised after the game but I don't think people are shocked by the fact that he missed a penalty because Bayern missed one as well. He takes his penalties in an unusual way so people are maybe a little bit less [understanding] but everybody can miss penalties. Ozil is a classy player and on a longer period class always tells.”

  2. This commentary was a disgrace.....worse by far than our performance. I have just read it through again and the questions that might be asked of the commentator are; 1. Were you under the influence of drugs/alcohol? 2. Are you an nufc supporter? 3. Are you a disgruntled City or Chelsea fan? 4. In the context of your commentary what makes you think that your comment, quote "utter utter filth" is acceptable? 5. Who were you addressing your comments too? 6. Given the very poor quality of your work, would you consider donating your pay/fee to charity and returning to your seat at Sid James on a Saturday afternoon rather than hiding behind the keyboard churning out this kind of tripe?

  3. I commented before the match that I though Osil should play, but it would seem that he is the one to many cooks that spoil the broth. We did well with out him.If we keep playing like that he will not be needed. Then again Arsene paid so much for him I suppose he,s got to be used. He will do us proud when he gets the chance.CARRY ON Y0U GUNNERS.
