    • FT And there is the final whistle. Tottenham deserved their victory but Palace made life tough for them. Encouraging signs for both teams.
    • 90+2 Spurs clear and Defoe might be able to see this out.
    • 90+2 Palace running out of time now – can they manufacture one last chance?
    • 90+2 Long ball looks for Phillips but Lloris sweeps up well again to get to the edge of his area and gather.
    • 90' Three extra minutes.
    • 89' DOUBLE SAVE FROM LLORIS! Palace with their best chance of the match as it falls nicely to Dikagcoi after a nod down from Phillips. He fires towards goal but Lloris saves with his legs. Dikagcoi chases down the ball and gets a second shot off but again the Frenchman saves.
    • 88' Superb run from Defoe as he outpaces the Palace defence but his shot on the edge of the area is scuffed and goes harmlessly wide – that was a great chance.
    • 87' Gabbidon with an important close range block from Sigurdsson keeps Palace in the match.
    • 86' Spurs final change sees Kaboul come on for Rose.
    • 85' Defoe holds the ball up well after getting crowded out by three players on the counter attack.
    • 84' Lloris fails to gather a corner but makes up for it by then saving a shot from Delaney at a tough angle.
    • 84' Tottenham bring on Defoe for Soldado – decent debut from Soldado, always looked busy.
    • 83' Half a chance for Phillips as the play opens up for him just outside the box – but he doesn't hit his shot clean and it goes harmlessly wide.
    • 82' Chadli chips just over the bar with his left foot – might have been a mishit cross but we will give him the benefit of the doubt.
    • 81' Lloris might just be the most tuned in keeper in the Premier League – he is out quick again to gather and end a Tottenham attack.
    • 80' Chadli drags a shot wide of the target. He is always looking to find shooting opportunities is the young Belgian - could be a good fantasy football player this season.
    • 78' Phillips puts the pacey Gayle away but Rose does superb to step in and clear and he is then fouled by Gayle. Good work from the Tottenham left-back.
    • 77' More good forward play from Soldado He links up with Lennon down the right and his cross is then blocked away for a corner.
    • 76' Moxey handles the ball in an attacking position this time – hasn't had much luck in that department today.
    • 75' Soldado back defending now as Palace push more and more men forward – they are having a go.
    • 74' Palace defend the corner though – the game has really opened up now since Palace made their triple change.
    • 73' Very powerful looking run from Capoue down the left – looked a bit like Patrick Vieira there and wins a corner.
    • 72' Chadli cuts in from the left once again and tries a curling shot but it is wide of the target.
    • -
    • 71' Ball over the top finds Phillips in all kinds of space but Lloris again races out and tackles Phillips outside the box. Risky move but it works.
    • 70' Lloris has to race out dive to get the ball ahead of Gayle after Chamakh came close to slipping him in.
    • 69' JUST WIDE! Siguardsson pulls a great chance wide of the target after Soldado had pulled the ball back to him. Lovely work from Walker to set Soldado away.
    • 68' Sigurdsson whips in a Tottenham corner but Moxey is there to head away.
    • 66' Palace making a triple substitution! Phillips, Williams and Marouane Chamakh all come on with Dobbie, Garvan and Wilbraham making way.
    • 65' Gayle tries a shot from distance that flies over the bar. Positive stuff but well over.
    • 64' Vertonghen sweeps up well as Dobbie looked to burst into the box.
    • 63' However it looks like Jonathan Williams and Kevin Phillips are going to come on.
    • 62' Palace's most exciting option on the bench is Spanish U20 international Jose Campana who was signed from Sevilla for £2m this summer.
    • 61' Moxey storms forward down the left but his cross is poor and then Dobbie is wasteful with another pass. Palace just lacking a bit of class.
    • 60' Palace have responded well enough to the goal – have not let the heads drop.
    • 59' More brilliant work in midfielder from Jedinak. The Aussie midfielder has been Palace's main man all afternoon.
    • 58'
    • 57' Tottenham are bringing on new signing Etienne Capoue for Moussa Dembele so they now have £59m worth of new talent on the pitch.
    • 56' Without a corner all match, Palace have two in quick succession but Tottenham defend them both.
    • 55' Another flick on from Wilbraham causes momentary concern but Vertonghen shepherds it back to Lloris.
    • -
    • 54' Palace's tactic of containment was fine when it was 0-0 but Ian Holloway will need to come up with something new you feel.
    • 53' Tottenham fans in great voice now but the Palace fans have gone a bit quiet.
    • 51' Unlucky for Moxey who has done well against the dangerous Lennon all afternoon but it was a penalty.
    • -
    • 50' GOAL TOTTENHAM! Roberto Soldado calmly places it into the bottom left corner with Speroni going the other way. Tottenham did not have a penalty last season but they have scored on the opening day here.
    • 49' PENALTY TOTTENHAM! Moxey blocks a cross from Lennon with his arm – clear as day and it actually came just moments after Tottenham had another penalty shout.
    • 48' Soldado with a nice lay-off for Sigurdsson but his shot is blocked straight away by Jedniak.
    • 47' Moxey is able to whip in a cross from the left but it is just a little too close to Lloris.
    • 46' Palace get us back underway.
    • - No changes from either side at half-time.
    • -
    • - @Lukedbest: "Definitely not the same Tottenham without Bale"

    • HT And there is the half-time whistle – Spurs dominating possession but lacking creativity against a limited but gutsy Palace side. Will be plenty of talk about the man who isn't there, a certain Mr Bale, if things stay as they are.
    • 45+3 Lennon with a super cross to the far post – Chadli gets up to head it but he can't get it down and it goes over the bar. Joel Ward perhaps did enough just to put him off.
    • 45+2 More impressive work from Jedinak to break up a rather laboured looking Tottenham attack.
    • 45+1 Three extra minutes.
    • 45' Delaney clears the latest Lennon cross – all Tottenham's attacks seem to be coming from that right.
    • 44' Lloris can only clear out for a throw after Wilbraham chased down what most would have seen as a lost cause.
    • 43' We just had a little break in play for some treatment but we are back underway.
    • 41' Spurs have had 65 per cent possession so far.
    • 40' Good work from Tottenham down the right. Walker plays Lennon free down the right…he puts a low cross into the six yard box and Soldado again gets a little touch without making full contact and Speroni can save from close range.
    • 39' Chadli nearly plays in Soldado but there is too much on the pass and the striker can't get it under control.
    • 38' Paulinho again wins possession – plays it to Soldado and runs into the box but the Spanish striker's cross just can't quite get it to him as it is headed away.
    • 37' Warm applause from the Tottenham fans as Paulinho steps in to break up play before calming passing to a white shirt.
    • 36' Rose bursts into the Palace box with intent but then loses his footing.
    • 35' Best bit of action in the match – Palace get their wires cross allowing Spurs to pick up the ball in a good area. Sigurdsson turns quickly outside the box and fires a superb shot on target but Speroni is alert and pushes it over the bar.
    • 33' Jedinak goes into the back of Soldado – just a little trip but Soldado made sure the referee knew he had been fouled.
    • 32' For once Lennon beats Moxey and gets a cross in down the right but Jedinak steps in and heads away.
    • 31' Ian Holloway typically animated on the touchline.
    • 30' Spurs attacking spell ends as Sigurdsson overhits a cross.
    • 29' Great tackle by Moxey on Walker inside the box – if he got that wrong it would have been a penalty.
    • 28' Great tackle by Moxey on Walker inside the box – if he got that wrong it would have been a penalty.
    • 28' Garvan puts in the free and Wilbraham gets a header on target but it is straight at Lloris.
    • 27' Spurs caught napping at a throw allowing Palace to counter and they have won a free-kick about 40-yards out.
    • 26' Chadli playing on the left for Spurs but not very wide and looking to cut inside when he gets the ball.
    • 25' STAT: Via @InfostradaLive: This is the first time three Belgian players are in the starting lineup of a PL team: Vertonghen, Dembele, Chadli
    • 24' Dawson gets his head on the corner but it just loops up and Speroni gathers.
    • 24' Lennon storms past Moxey down the left but the full-back then slides to put Lennon's cross out for a corner.
    • 23' Wilbraham with a dangerous flick down inside the box but he was climbing all over Rose.
    • 22' Palace fans in great voice – their team lacks class but they look organised.
    • 21' Sigurdsson with the free and Soldado sprints to the front post again and gets to the ball first but again it flashes over and wide.
    • 20' Ross tripped by Ward down the left wing – attacking free for Spurs.
    • 19' Some space for Palace as Wilbraham holds the ball up and feeds Garvan – however, his cut-back is then behind everyone and Spurs get the opportunity to gather themselves and squeeze out the space.
    • 17' Joel Ward comes down awkwardly on his ankle and needs treatment – the Palace right-back should be okay though.
    • 16' Palace feeling themselves into the game a bit more but their passing remains poor.
    • 15' Jedinak popping up everywhere for Palace – he has just squeezed out Soldado. The Spaniard thought he was fouled – welcome to the Premier League Roberto!
    • 14' Attacking set-pieces could be key for Palace but Tottenham defend the first one of the day from Dobbie.
    • 13' Soldado and Lennon link up well, allowing Dembele to try a 25-yard rasper but it has a little too much on it and flashes over the bar.
    • 12' Palace with their first little adventure inside the Tottenham box but Dobbie is boxed out and then Moxey's cross has a bit too much on it.
    • 11' Tottenham with 73 per cent of the possession in the opening 10 minutes.
    • 10' Gayle tries to chase down Rose and wins a throw-in. Such selfless acts will be needed from the Palace players if they are to have a chance today.
    • 9' Tottenham continue to boss the midfield. Paulinho and Dembele are very comfortable on the ball.
    • 8' Tottenham continue to boss the midfield. Paulinho and Dembele are very comfortable on the ball.
    • 8' A cross from Danny Rose on the left – Soldado flashes across and gets his head on it but didn't have the angle to direct it and goes well over.
    • 6' Palace not afraid of the long ball in these early stages – a Speroni clearance finds the head of Wilbraham but the flick on cannot find a red and blue shirt.
    • 5' First attack from Palace with Garvan down the left – the Irishman looks to find record signing Gayle with a cross but Lloris storms out and gathers.
    • 4' Walker cuts inside the box and tries to put in a low cross but Jedinak steps in to take possession and race clear.
    • 3' Tottenham with more possession in these early stages but both teams still settling into things.
    • 2' Tottenham with more possession in these early stages but both teams still settling into things.
    • 1' Soldado's first bit of control in a Tottenham shirt is a classy one but he slips soon after.
    • 1' And Tottenham have got us underway.
    • 13:29 @justinsmyth1 on Twitter: "got to be a 2-0 win for spurs today. Will be too good for palace." and @dalai_gopher agrees: "don't want spurs to be to confident it's a almost all New midfield need time to settle I expect a win but not by a big margin! 2.0"
    • 13:29. Both sides are wearing their traditional colours. Palace in red and blue with Spurs wearing white.
    • 13:28 Teams coming out to 'Glad All Over' which Palace adopted as their club song a number of years ago.

    • 13:25 STAT: You would think having won promotion Palace might have finished last season in good form but they have actually only won two of their 13 games inside 90 minutes.
    • 13:20 Mark Clattenburg is today's referee but it is not his first match of the season - he was in charge of Burnley against Bolton on the opening weekend of the Championship and the Community Shield last weekend.
    • 13:15 Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway is hoping his prior experience of the Premier League can help him. "I think every year of your life you should learn and think about what you have learnt over and over again to improve yourself," he said

    • 13:10 Andre Villas-Boas expects his Tottenham team to walk in to a cauldron of hostile noise. "As a stadium, it's very hard to play in, there will be lots of emotion and intensity, and it's always difficult to play against a team that has just come up."

    • 13:05 As you would expect Tottenham are the big favourites today and their price has been shortening too since the team news came out. They are now best priced 3/4 (1.75) while Palace are now as big as 19/4 (5.75) after having been 15/4 yesterday. You can get the draw at 14/5 (3.8)
    • 13:00 No Gareth Bale as he is out with a foot injury but it is hard to imagine he would have played in any event. There is £50m worth of new talent in the Spurs starting XI though as Paulinho (£17m), Nacer Chadli (£7m) and record signing Roberto Soldado (£26m) all start. Spurs other big summer signing Etienne Capoue (£9m) is on the bench after joining from Toulouse earlier this week.
    • 12:55 Hello I'm Seán Fay (@Sean_Fay) – tweet me during the game if you have any enlightening thoughts about today's match – looks like Crystal Palace are banking on the men that got them promoted today. Striker Dwight Gayle is the only new boy in the starting XI – signed from Peterborough for a reported £6.5m. Stephen Dobbie was signed permanently this summer but had been on loan at the club for the second-half of last season.
