    • 84' The stoppage allows for Mourinho to get some messages onto his players. Can they nick it?

    • 69' Lampard's been very quiet for the Blues tonight. He had a great opening weekend though. STAT ALERT: Lampard scored his eighth goal in the opening game of a season (against Hull last weekend), equalling Alan Shearer's Premier League record. He was also playing in his 18th opening match of a Premier League season, which is a new Premier League record.
    • 68' Still very little chances of note in this game.
    • 67' MAN UNITED SUB: Young replaces Valencia.
    • 66' Hazard whips in a cross that Oscar isn't too far away from connecting with at the far post. Decent ball in by the Belgian.
    • 65' Rooney holds off Cahill and lets rip with a 35 yarder. Easy for Cech. Van Persie unimpressed that he didn't get a pass there.
    • 64' The handball shout was the result of a shot that hit Lampard in the area.
    • 63' Torres gets his first chance to race at goal. He jinks past one defender but then leaves the ball behind as he attempts another stepover. The home fans enjoyed that!

    • 61' United beginning to press again after that brief flurry of attacks from Chelsea.
    • 60' CHELSEA SUB: Torres replaces De Bruyne.
    • 60' OFFSIDE: Schurrle smashes the bar with an effort - but the flag was up way before he let fly.
    • 59' GREAT EFFORT! Schurrle sees a shot blocked and when the ball falls for Cahill he drills in a fizzing 30 yarder that De Gea does well to hold.
    • 59' Valencia breaks down the right with Chelsea all over the show. However, the winger mistimes his pass to a roar of huge disapproval from the home fans.
    • 58' After watching United miss that chance, Mourinho turns and calls for Torres.
    • 57' HUGE CHANCE! Rooney shows great feet to hold off Ramires and slip a disguised pass into Welbeck. The striker has time to create a yard of space but then fires a shot high into the stand from 10 yards out.
    • 56' STAT ALERT: Against Swansea last weekend, Welbeck scored twice (on his 100th English league career appearance) to end a run of 19 Premier League games without a goal. He scored just one Premier League goal last season.
    • 55' Welbeck finds space 30 yards from goal and when it opens up for him he fires in a shot that arrows harmlessly wide.
    • 54' Mourinho must be looking to change this sooner rather than later. Chelsea have offered pretty much nothing in attack.
    • 53' And here come Man United again...
    • 52' STAT ALERT: Manchester United lost three Premier League games at Old Trafford last season - their highest number of league losses at home since 2003-04.

    • 47' Mourinho will be hoping to see more from his side in the attacking third this half while Moyes will be keen to see his charges improve their final ball.
    • 46' Man United restart the match.
    • - Interesting half-time stat for you to chew over.
    • 45+1' HALF-TIME: Man United 0-0 Chelsea.
    • 45+1' Ramires finds space on the right but fires his cross high, wide and handsome. That'll be it for this rather forgettable half.
    • 45' One minute of added time.
    • 44' Chelsea ending the half on the attack. Can they pinch the lead here?
    • 43' Hazard shoots from the edge of the box... straight at De Gea.
    • 42' NEARLY! A sublime flick by Rooney almost gets Van Persie in on goal. Nice idea from the number 10 but Chelsea survive.
    • 41' A fine move from the home side sees the ball worked out to Jones but this time his cross is deflected into the path of Cech, who gathers with ease.
    • 40' Man United still probing. Can they find the key to unlock this Chelsea defence before half time?
    • 39' De Bruyne looks to pick out Hazard on the right but plays the ball straight out of play. It's been that type of half for the Blues.
    • 38' MAN UNITED CHANCE! Phil Jones drives down the right and fizzes in a low cross that is just about cut out on the stretch. Cleverley follows up and sears a thundering shot just past the upright. Best effort yet.

    • 36' Mourinho taking some good-natured stick from the home support.
    • 34' Schurrle looking very isolated in attack. If this continues you wonder how long it will be until Mourinho revisits his selection.
    • 33' STAT ALERT: Jose Mourinho has lost just two of his seven competitive games as a manager at Old Trafford (W3 D2 L2).
    • 32' BOOKED: De Bruyne is the first man in the ref's book, despite picking up a bloody mouth in the challenge.

    • 27' Approaching the 30-minute mark and we've had very little goalmouth action. Who is going to strike first here tonight?

    • 25' Antonio Valencia clips a ball in from the right that Ivanovic is forced to head behind for a corner.

With 124 goals, he is now 12th in the Premier League all-time scorers' list - one ahead of Nicolas Anelka, Dwight Yorke and Jermain Defoe (123).
    • 22' Michael Carrick pressures Ramires into a mistake and almost gets Van Persie in on goal. The Dutchman is forced wide but still engineers a strike at goal that flashes into the side netting.
    • 21' Hazard and De Bruyne are the architects of a neat move on the left, with the latter teeing up Oscar who crashes a 20-yard drive several yards wide of the right-hand post.
    • 20' Rooney and Van Persie link up on the edge of the box and attempt a tight one-two. Fortunately for Chelsea, Ivanovic reads it and comes away with the ball. Good defending.
    • 19' STAT ALERT: A win in this game will ensure Chelsea have won their opening three league games in four of the last five seasons.
    • 18' To be fair, there's not been much to write home about so far. De Bruyne looks to change that with a 35 yarder but it's way wide of target.
    • 17' Amusing scenes in the dugout where Mourinho appears to have lost his pen for making notes!
    • 16' Van Persie feeds Rooney on the right. The United number 10 looks to curl an instant cross into the box but again the Chelsea defence does well to clear the danger via the first man.
    • 15' Cole takes out Van Persie with a lunging tackle as United look to counter. The England left back was lucky to escape without a yellow card there.
    • 14' A ball into the box appears to strike Cole's arm but the ref says no penalty. It would have been a harsh award.
    • 13' Strong header clear by John Terry. But United are still pressing.
    • 12' Danny Welbeck almost sniffs out a chance on the edge of the box but he's well crowded out. Corner to Man United.

    • 10' STAT ALERT: Manchester United have suffered 14 Premier League defeats against Chelsea; more than against any other side.
    • 9' First sight of goal for Chelsea as a poor clearance from Rio Ferdinand falls for Oscar but his rasping effort is well gathered by De Gea.

    • 7' Cagey opening here. Both sides still feeling their way into the game. A great atmosphere emanating from the stands though.
    • 6' These two sides met five times in 2012/13 in all competitions, with Chelsea prevailing three times and losing just once.

    • 19.50 On Twitter, United fan @SeryiAnsimov reckons Rooney's starting berth means he will remain at Old Trafford. He says: "It's really great that Wazza is in the starting line-up. That already means something - if he were to be sold, he wouldn't play."
    • 19.45 Rooney made a strong impact against Swansea and - transfer saga aside - probably deserves his recall when you consider this stat: Rooney provided two assists as a substitute versus Swansea. This only happened twice in the Premier League in the whole of 2012-13 (Oscar & Hope Akpan).

    • 19.38 Speaking to this morning's papers, Mourinho was more outspoken about Rooney. He said: "We are trying to get a player that a manager told 'You will be a second option' for him. We are not going for Van Persie. If I say Ramires is a second option for me and he plays when Lampard is tired or injured, if someone comes here to get Ramires, nobody is upset." Asked directly if he felt Moyes was to blame for the Rooney situation, Mourinho said: "Of course."
    • 19.36 In his pre-match interview in the tunnel Mourinho insisted he was 'not surprised' to see Rooney starting for United. He said: "They have him so they are using him." The Blues boss expects to see him operate just behind Robin Van Persie. "We have to try and control him," he added.
    • 19.35 David Moyes' pre-match thoughts: "I came here for this level of game but I also came to win trophies. To do that you have to beat the likes of Chelsea. It's a great first home game for us to have. They have started strongly, have good players and are a good team. There's not a big change to the team – they just have a new manager, a bit like us."

    • 19.15 The BIG news is that Wayne Rooney STARTS for United who make one change to the win over Swansea. Ryan Giggs drops to the bench. Ashley Young is also amongst the substitutes for the Red Devils, the first time he has been involved since April.
