    • 4' Back up the other end and Villa have a dangerous free kick 30 to 35 yards out.
    • 3' Tiote wins the ball off Fabian Delph deep in Villa territory and feeds Remy on the edge of the box. The Frenchman doesn't need asking twice and fizzes in a low shot that Brad Guzan does well to hold down to his right.

    • 13.20 STAT: Aston Villa have taken 17 points from 13 away league games - the best record of any of the bottom 11 clubs.
    • 13.15 RECENT ENCOUNTERS: Newcastle are undefeated in their previous seven home matches with Villa, winning on four of those occasions. The last time the Villans triumphed at St James' Park was back in 2005 when they ran out 3-0 victors. The home team finished with eight men that day.
    • 13.10 The hosts will be hoping the return of Remy can inspire a change in fortune in front of goal.
    • 13.05 STAT: Alan Pardew's men are looking to complete the league double over Villa for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
    • 13.00 Paul Lambert on his side's warm weather training: "It was good to get away (to Portugal). I don't think the weather was too great here while we were gone so that was good from our perspective. The he lads worked hard, which was the main objective of it. Because of the weather, you can do things over there more so than you can do over here - especially when you consider the wind and the amount of rain back home."
    • 12.55 Alan Pardew: "I’m surprised by (Lambert's criticism of Newcastle's fans this week). He might regret saying that after the game. In terms of where I am with the players - I have made it clear to them what their responsibility is; to the fans and the city. And that needs to be reflected today... It (The defeat by Tottenham) wasn’t good enough for me and shouldn’t be good enough for our fans. I understand all of that. Trust me, I wasn’t happy either.”
    • 12.50 As for Villa, Paul Lambert's side have benefitted from some warm weather training in Portugal and the Scot makes two changes to his side. Karim El Ahmadi and Andreas Weimann replace Joe Bennett and Marc Albrighton. The Midlands outfit will deploy a 4-5-1 switching to a 4-3-3 on the counter. Christian Benteke will assume the central attacking role.
    • 12.45 Newcastle are given a lift by the return of a trio of big players. Top scorer, Loic Remy (11 goals) is thrown straight into the starting XI after serving a three-match ban while Fabricio Coloccini and Cheick Tiote are back from injury. It's a 4-4-2 for Alan Pardew's men with Remy joining Papiss Cisse in attack.

  1. Mighty Blues have never done Birmingham proud there a slur on the name of Birmingham, never been a Lambert fan but I don't blame him, I blame the 2500 Villa fans who chanted his name at Norwich on the final day of the season 2011/12, for the mess we find ourselves in, managing Norwich is one thing, managing Villa is a totally different thing, and trying to do it on the cheap isn't working, out of all Lambert's signings other then Benteke who has worked out? and I am starting to wonder if he was a one season wonder, this guy is not deserving of another 3 year contract, dump him in the summer and bring in a manager who can actually start playing some football, and will stand up to Mr Lerner and tell him exactly what and how to get this club going in the right direction, because if we don't then next season we will be relegated with Lambert in charge.
