    • 90+3' FULL TIME: Newcastle 0 West Ham 0
    • 90+2' BIG MISS! Sammy Ameobi's cross bounces off the far post and Gouffran is off-target with the rebound from a couple of yards out, somehow!
    • 90+1' Three minutes of stoppage time. Dramatic winner, anyone?
    • 90' Loud cries of a Reid foul against Gouffran as a deep Newcastle cross comes in. Dowd is not interested. There was half a case there, though.
    • 89' BALL IN THE NET! It's offside though as Morrison's deflected strike falls into the path of Maiga with Krul committed.
    • 88' Gouffran catches Jarvis pretty heavy as the visitors take the corner short. No free-kick.
    • 87' More good work from Jarvia, this time in exchange with Morrison, yields another Irons corner.
    • 86' Newcastle screw up an attacking throw with taker Debuchy offside when Sissoko plays it straight back to him.
    • 85' Ben Arfa again tries to weave his magic but again it's Collins with the crucial block.
    • 83' Great push forward by the Hammers leads to Cole firing narrowly over. That appears to be the favoured destination for most of today's strikes.
    • 82' The rain has stopped for the time being, but the pitch remains a little heavy.
    • 81' Newcastle break from this one, and Gouffran fails to create enough of a gap on the edge of the box with Collins standing him up. The centre-back blocks the placed effort.
    • 80' Maiga can only get a glancing head to the flag kick but Newcastle make a hash of trying to play their way out from the back and Cole wins the away side another corner.
    • 79' Good work by Jarvis on the left, causing Debuchy to block his cross out for a corner.
    • 77' The Frenchman takes the set piece himself but it's easily headed away for a throw.
    • 76' Great side challenge from O'Brien to concede a corner on the right-hand byline just as Ben Arfa appeared to have got past him.
    • 75' Diame is the man to make way for Morrison. 15 to go, 0-0 and each side has one change left apiece.
    • 74' Ameobi is penalised for a foul trying to reach a Gouffran cross - O'Brien got there first, anyway.
    • 73' Looks like Ravel Morrison will be coming on for the away side soon, too, as the hosts start to take control of this match.
    • 72' Another Newcastle change sees the quiet Cisse make way for Yoan Gouffran.
    • 70' Shola Ameobi is running his socks off but even he can't reach a strong lofted pass on the left.
    • 69' Ben Arfa tries to create an opening for himself in the penalty area but three West Ham defenders are enough to close even a man of his skill off and force him backwards.
    • 68' The rain continues to pour, so expect that to potentially play a role in any goal or goals that come in these latter stages, as the players are struggling to adapt from the faster, smoother pace before the extra water.
    • 66' West Ham continue their fine record of keeping Newcastle out of their goal but can they hold on for another 24 minutes? Maybe even find a winner?
    • 65' Now Newcastle make their first switch, with Sammy Ameobi replacing Marveaux.
    • 64' Downing certainly showed some promise today and made some decent deliveries, but Allardyce looks to be hoping for dividends from fresh legs.
    • 63' In a role reversal from last week, Cole replaces Downing as the rain begins to get heavier here.
    • 61' Both men are okay to continue, and Joe Cole will enter the fray shortly.
    • 60' Cisse and Reid smack heads and are both down for treatment.
    • 59' CHANCE! Another lovely delivery from Downing after a short throw-in on the right, but Nolan approaches the header awkwardly and puts it over from close range. Usually expect a lot better from that man in that situation.
    • 58' Downing with a volleyed cross for Maiga, but Krul makes good use of his ability to handle the ball and rises above the striker to catch.
    • 57' Anita finds Marveaux with style, but great physical defending from Collins snuffs out the threat.
    • 56' Jaaskelainen almost has a blunder as he comes out of his box to clear a stray pass, but with a bit of pinballing he gets it away.
    • 55' Good burst forward on the left wing by Santon, and he cuts inside to shoot just off-target.
    • 53' ... but Marveaux slips at the crucial moment before he can try to shoot inside the box.
    • 52' Poor, telegraphed forward ball attempt by O'Brien on the overlap invites a Newcastle counter...
    • 51' Ben Arfa chips a cross over from the right but like Noble, cannot pick anyone out.
    • 50' Noble, who has played more of a defensive role in the middle to pull strings for Nolan and the wingers, tries a creative ball and it finds nobody. Goal kick.
    • 49' Downing cuts inside from the flank with enough pace to get beyond both centre-backs, but his awkward shot is held safely at the near post by Krul.
    • 48' Coloccini rises to meet it, but with zero direction to the shot and it's miles wide.
    • 47' Newcastle waste no time getting forward and win another corner.
    • 46' West Ham kick off the second half.

    • 45+2' And that's half-time at St James' Park. Both sides have had a couple of chances but though the action has been decent enough, one cannot feel as though it needs a goal to get out of second gear.
    • 45+1' Another Newcastle set piece just inside the attacking half on the left is headed wide by Yanga-Mbiwa.
    • 45' Just the one minute to be added on at the end of the first half.
    • 44' Coloccini heads the raking set piece across goal, but the whistle sounds again as Ameobi was offside.
    • 43' O'Brien will open Dowd's book for the first time with a late slide to stop the impressive run down the middle of Ben Arfa.
    • 42' West Ham win a free-kick on the left-hand side, meaning another potentially-dangerous delivery from Jarvis. But once again, referee Phil Dowd blows up a second time in favour of the hosts when the Hammers fail to keep possession in the attack. This time it's Collins sliding in for the free-kick.
    • 40' It's not been a bad first half so far considering the goalless scoreline, especially with chances beginning to crop up in the last 10-15.
    • 39' Sissoko gets to the floated delivery, but can only head it over.
    • 38' Now Newcastle win their third corner of the game, to West Ham's one.
    • 37' Great through ball down the left from O'Brien to Jarvis, whose cross finds Downing at the far post.... he heads into the ground and narrowly wide!
    • 35' And again Newcastle threaten their guests with brisk pace before Sissoko curls an okay distance effort off-target.
    • 34' And at the other end! Newcastle win another corner with their direct movement forward, from which Yanga-Mbiwa does really well from a tight angle at the near post to glance a header across goal and narrowly over the bar!
    • 33' ALMOST! The centre-circle free-kick is pumped long into the danger zone where Reid is an inch away from getting a vital touch which puts the ball in the net. He doesn't, though, and Krul claims.
    • 32' Cisse avoids a booking after bringing down Diame, despite it pretty clearly being a foul to ensure the Irons did not breakaway.
    • 30' Newcastle look to break, but cannot get any further than just inside West Ham's half.
    • 29' Demel and Downing really are looking on the same page on the right, but good closing down prevents a cross from either.
    • 28' Newcastle have suffered just one defeat in their last 10 Premier League home games against West Ham (W5 D4), but this defeat came last season; 0-1 at St James Park.
    • 27' Now the home side are beginning to find a few passes, moving well to keep options open.
    • 25' Case in point, Newcastle finally find some space in the middle of the park on the break and Ben Arfa gets excited and blasts over the bar from 25 yards after taking it forward a little.
    • 24' So far West Ham have been firmly in control of the midfield, forcing Newcastle to be more direct to cause problems, but a lack of cutting edge is stopping the away side from making more from the driver's seat.
    • 22' Another ball with promise from Demel on the right, but Jarvis' far-post header across goal is just out of Nolan's reach, and the skipper fouls Yanga-Mbiwa trying to regain the ball.
    • 21' Good interception by Downing but he soon runs into a dead end and is dispossesesd.

    • 18' Great work by Reid to close down a potential attack on the right.
    • 17' Almost a chance for the visitors as Maiga can only head Demel's decent cross from the right flank wide of the far post.
    • 15' Ironic cheers from the home fans for Downing as his cross-field pass attempt goes out for a throw.
    • 14' It's Marveaux with the corner, but the end result is a post-clearance volley from Sissoko which flies miles off target.
    • 13' The same cannot be said of their opponents, as Reid causes a scare with a mis-judged back pass attempt with goes inches wide of his own far post. He had Jaaskelainen convinced of danger for a moment there...
    • 12' West Ham have been keeping their hosts on the back foot for much of the last four minutes or so, but the Geordies are doing a decent enough job of playing it back to Krul and getting it back in open play whenever that has happened.
    • 11' The Magpies have been given three red cards in their last five Premier League matches, if you're looking for further intangibles in this one.
    • 10' Nolan is caught offside as he tries to sneak over to the right wing for a long ball forward, having been on the shoulder of the centre-backs for most of the build.
    • 8' Cisse comes within inches of closing down a back pass to Jussi, but the Finn clears his lines with impressive calm under pressure.
    • 7' Ben Arfa will go for goal... but hoofs it well over Jaaskelainen's crossbar.
    • 6' Newcastle have a central free-kick, just under 35 yards from goal after Collins clatters Sissokho.
    • 5' Ben Arfa's killer ball attempt towards Ameobi is cut out by the West Ham back line.
    • 4' Of course new signing Downing starts for the Hammers today, he's currently prowling the right flank and makes his first contribution with some neat but in-vain keepie-uppies.
    • 3' The flag kick flies out to an isolated Reid at the far post, but the 2012/13 club player of the year tamely sends it straight to Krul with the outside of his right foot. If he were left-footed (and a striker), who knows....
    • 2' Diame and Jarvis combine well for the visitors, with the latter winning the game's first corner on the left-hand side.
    • 1' And Newcastle kick off the first half, here we go!

    • 14:55 Since the start of 2012, Newcastle have won five of their seven Premier League home games against sides from London.
    • 14:50 West Ham were the only team not to win consecutive Premier League games last season. They have a chance to do this at the first opportunity in 2013/14.
    • 14:45 Kevin Nolan has scored in three of the last four Premier League encounters between these two sides, although two of those goals came for Newcastle United.
    • 14:40 The Hammers were the only side that managed to keep a clean sheet both home and away against Newcastle United in the Premier League last season.
    • 14:35 Newcastle have lost three Premier League games in a row. They’ve never lost four in a row in the competition. West Ham have won just one of their last 14 away games in the Premier League (W1 D3 L10).
    • 14:30 Sam Allardyce: "I think I've been back quite a few times. From my point of view, it's always been a very positive result whenever I've gone back. I haven't gone back and been beaten yet, so I want the lads to keep that record up for me if they can. It's a difficult place to go and a difficult place to get points. As the years go by any [antipathy] soon diminishes, you look to the future and look to build your career."
    • 14:25 Alan Pardew: “We need to get a couple of results in very quickly, just for our fans. I feel sorry for them, the whole situation. They watched the team struggle and then saw the sending-off in the game. Then a player with outstanding talent in Yohan Cabaye not playing is hard to take. I don’t think it is worth talking about anything else apart from my players here all pulling in one direction to try to get a result on Saturday. It is a chance for us to have a new start this season."
