    • Sunderland
    • Fulham
    • 90 + 5' AND THAT'S IT - Fulham have pinched all three points at the Stadium of Light! Paolo di Canio's men probably deserved a draw at least, but they were caught by a sucker punch just after half-time.
    • 90 + 4' …but Larsson’s kick is headed away by Hangeland.
    • 90 + 4' Free kick to Sunderland out wide on their left, level with the edge of the box….
    • 90 + 3' Fulham are very close to closing this game out, now…
    • 90 + 2' BOOKING: Duff cynically pulls down Colback by the halfway line.
    • 90 + 2' Five minutes of added time...
    • 90 + 1' Johnson gets to the byline and crosses again – but this time Stockdale gathers under pressure.
    • 90' That could be game over for Di Canio's men... great chance.
    • 89' CHANCE! Johnson skips past Kasami, puts a cross in, Dong-Won has a header on six yards…. and puts it wide!
    • 88' It was Celustka who went off for Sunderland, by the way.
    • 87' Johnson crosses from the right – Wickham tumbles in the box, but no foul apparent. Johnson tries again… but Hughes is there again to head away.
    • 86' SUBSTITUTION: Wickham on for Sunderland. Di Canio really throwing everything into attack, here.
    • 85' BOOKING – Berbatov is shown a yellow for dissent. He slams the ball into the ground after a decision goes against him. Silly.
    • 83' Giaccherini gets the ball wide on the left again, and he crosses towards Altidore… but Hughes is on hand to head away.
    • 82' Giaccherini dances to the byline again, this time on Sunderland’s left, but his cross is adjudged to have gone out of play.
    • 81' Cabral clips the ball towards Johnson in the Fulham box – but Briggs nods away comfortably. Stockdale is yet to be called into action…
    • 80' Sunderland need to conjure up a moment of magic here – the game’s lost a bit of it’s fizz at the moment…
    • 79' Sunderland press forward again – Altidore crosses from the right, but no-one is in the six yard box to capitalise.
    • 75' So, no appearance for Darren Bent today, after all - that was Fulham's third substitution.
    • 74' SUBSTITUTION – FULHAM: Stekelenburg has hurt his shoulder in keeping Altidore out. His debut comes to an end and he is replaced by David Stockdale.
    • 73' CHANCE! Johnson drives into the box, it’s mis-hit goalwards by Giaccherini, and Altidore can’t quite get the ball past Stekelenburg… so close for Sunderland!
    • 71' SUBSTITUTION – SUNDERLAND: Ji Dong-Won comes on for Stephane Sessegnon.
    • 69' Karagounis is caught by Larsson’s studs in a 50-50 challenge – but the Greek midfielder gets up after rolling around for a while.
    • 65' Storming run from Altidore to release Sessegnon – but Riether gets in a good challenge. The resulting Sunderland corner is cleared.
    • 65' SUBSTITUTION - Fulham bring on Karagounis for Boateng
    • 64' CHANCE - ALTIDORE! Great snap-shot on the turn after making space for himself on the edge of the box – but it fizzes wide of Stekelenburg’s goal.
    • 63' Karagounis is readying himself to enter the fray for the visitors.
    • 62' It’s Johnson – straight into the wall. And an offside flag goes up. Fulham breathe again.
    • 60' Hangeland clumsily fouls Altidore. Sunderland have a free-kick on the edge of the Fulham area. Larsson to take, or Johnson?
    • 59' Good pressure again from Sunderland. Giaccherini crosses in from the left-hand side of the area, but the ball is headed away once more.
    • 58' Johnson dances into the Fulham area, pulls it back to Altidore – but the American striker can’t get a shot away, and Sunderland have to build again.
    • 56' Lots of noise now from the Sunderland faithful - they probably can't believe their side is behind. And then Johnson volleys from the edge of the box! But it goes well wide.
    • 55' That is Macedonian Pajtim Kasami's first goal for Fulham since he joined in 2011, though he has been on-loan to Luzern in Switzerland for much of the intervening period.
    • 53' That is unquestionably Fulham's first on-target attempt. For all Sunderland's good work in the first half, they go behind here on the opening day.
    • 52' GOAL! Kasami towers home a header from the back of the six yard box from a Damien Duff corner!
    • 51' Berbatov finally gets the ball in the Sunderland penalty area, but his clipped cross is deflected behind for a corner.
    • 50' Fulham move the ball forward. But Briggs’ cross is cleared and Sunderland sweep upfield. The ball moves out to Johnson, but his effort goes well over the bar from 20 yards.
    • 48' Kasami does well to get into the Sunderland penalty area, but he has no support whatsoever. He’s unlucky to give away a free-kick.
    • 47' Giaccherini jinks into the box, pulls the ball back to the penalty spot….but there’s no Sunderland player there, and Boateng clears.
    • 47' No further substitutions at half-time from either side.
    • 46' Second half kicks off at the Stadium of Light.
    • - Don't forget, you can tweet me with your thoughts on the game at @ChasEarly1
    • - Fulham need to be quicker to the tackle and crisper with their passing. Not much threat from them, so far.
    • 45 + 2' That's the end of the first half. Sunderland have dominated in terms of possession and the energy and drive of their play. New boys Giaccherini, Cabral and Altidore have all impressed - but they'll want to turn their dominance into goals very soon. Expect an appearance from a certain Mr. Bent at some point....
    • 45 + 1' Taraabt curls an effort in from the left hand side of Sunderland’s area – but it goes well wide.
    • 44' …but Taraabt’s free-kick goes straight into the wall. Larsson then dispossesses him and the danger is cleared.
    • 44' A lovely touch from Berbatov releases Taraabt, but he’s brought down by Cabral. Free kick in a dangerous position just outside the box for Fulham.
    • 42' For all their possession, Sunderland have only managed two shots on target, both from outside the box.
    • 41' Giaccherini shows brilliant skill to jink past Boateng and cross from the byline. Cabral meets it but his contact isn’t good enough – goal kick Fulham.
    • 40' Free kick for Sunderland on the right hand side of Fulham’s area is wasted by Johnson. From the clearance, Altidore bursts into the box…but he’s taken the ball out of play in the build-up.
    • 38' The resulting free kick is cleared by Berbatov, of all people. Fulham goal kick.
    • 37' Three corners in a row for Sunderland. And still Fulham can’t clear it…. Briggs hacks down Sessegnon on the byline.
    • 35' CHANCE - Sessegnon switches wings, slips it back to Colback who offloads to Celustka – who SMASHES a shot towards the top right of Fulham’s goal, but Stekelenburg stretches to save.
    • 33' CHANCE - Johnson shimmies, passes to Giaccherini – and the Italian international flashes a drive at Stekelenburg from 25 yards! The Dutch ‘keeper saves relatively comfortably.
    • 32' Lovely move down the left by Sunderland results in a smart cross from Colback – Altidore isn’t far away from making contact with it in the box.
    • 29' Adam Johnson nearly bamboozles Matthew Briggs on the byline as the young defender tries to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick; fortunately Stekelenburg is on hand to gather.
    • 27' Fulham just can’t seem to string together any significant passing routine in the Sunderland half, so far.
    • 25' CHANCE - Cabral receives the ball just outside the penalty area and lets fly with another shot, which goes just wide. Closer this time, though.
    • 24' Hangeland clears emphatically from the corner, but Sunderland pressurise again. The home side are well on top here….
    • 23' Larsson takes the free kick, it’s charged down and played back in immediately; Sidwell shepherds it behind.
    • 22' Sunderland still dominating possession – and Derek Boateng is booked for bringing down Giaccherini just outside Fulham’s box.
    • 20' SUBSTITUTION - FULHAM: Matthew Briggs replaces Richardson.
    • 19' Richardson is down – looks like it’s his left hamstring and that he’ll be unable to go on. indeed, he leaves the field.
    • 18' ...but the danger is cleared. meanwhile it looks like Kieran Richardson might have picked up a slight knock.
    • 17' Altidore is then chopped down by Boateng just inside Fulham’s half, but the Cottagers clear any danger from the resulting free-kick. Seconds later, the Ghanaian clips Colback for another free kick…
    • 15' Altidore looks really busy up front for Sunderland, dropping back into channels to harry and chase. But his ball towards Adam Johnson goes out for a Fulham goal-kick.
    • 13' Fulham get a slightly fortunate free-kick as Kasami is clipped by O’Shea, just inside Sunderland’s half. But the visitors can’t capitalise and the ball goes out for a goal-kick.
    • 10' Taraabt gets his first touches as a Fulham player…and is immediately clipped by Cabral for a free-kick on Fulham’s left. The kick is headed away from danger by the Sunderland defence.
    • 8' The Sunderland midfield is moving forward smoothly. Larsson clips the ball forward to Johnson in the box, but he is under pressure and his header goes for a goal kick
    • 6' CHANCE – Cabral breaks forward into space and shoots wide from 20 yards. Good pressure from the Black Cats so far.
    • 4' Good move by Sunderland - Johnson releases Sessengnon into the right hand side of the box, but he's just offside. Fulham are struggling to get out of their own half, the home side looking very bright.
    • 2' Sunderland looking snappy in the tackle in these opening moments.
    • 1' Altidore is immediately into action for the home side - snapping into the tackle at halfway, moving forward into space and hitting a deflected shot out for a corner, which Stekelenburg clears.
    • 15:00 KICK-OFF - and we're into the 2013-14 season at the Stadium of Light!
    • 14:59 We'd love to hear from both sets of fans throughout the game - tweet me at @ChasEarly1 with your thoughts! Kick-off now moments away....
    • 14:55 Sunderland have won only 1 of their past 8 Premier League home games, although they are unbeaten on the opening day of the season for the last four years. Conversely, Fulham have kept a clean sheet in their last four opening day fixtures. Today's referee is Neil Swarbrick.
    • 14:50 Both sides have had mixed fortunes in their pre-season friendlies. Sunderland played only three official friendlies, beating Spurs and losing to Manchester City in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, and narrowly defeating FC Midtjylland in Denmark. Fulham registered two wins and a draw during their tour of Costa Rica, and then drew with Real Betis in between defeats to Werder Bremen and Parma at Craven Cottage.
    • 14:45 Paolo Di Canio has vowed to implement a “complete revolution” in the dressing room environment. He told the Daily Telegraph that he will prevent mobile phone usage immediately before training, as well as banning mayonnaise, ketchup and coke from players’ diets. Bizarrely, the occasional cheeseburger is apparently OK.
    • 14:40 Adel Taraabt, the mercurial Moroccan, also joins Fulham on a season’s loan from west London neighbours QPR. The Cottagers also start Derek Boateng, who arrives on a free from FC Dnipro, while Sascha Reither is now a fully-fledged team member, having signed full terms following a season’s loan from FC Koln
    • 14:35 Bent is probably Fulham’s marquee signing, but the Londoners will undoubtedly benefit from the experience of Maarten Stekelenburg in goal. The Dutchman, who was a losing finalist at the 2010 World Cup, replaces Mark Schwarzer who left to join arch-rivals Chelsea in the close season.
    • 14:30 Both managers have been active in the transfer market over the summer. Paolo Di Canio has brought in nine new signings, of whom Celustka, Roberge, Cabral, Giaccherini and Altidore start today.
    • 14:25 So no starting berth for Fulham’s loan signing Darren Bent. The much-travelled striker was of course Sunderland’s player of the season in 2009-10 and had the best goals-to-games ratio of his career with the Wearsiders – 36 goals in 63 appearances.
    • 14:20 Teams: SUNDERLAND - Westwood; Celustka, Colback, O’Shea (c), Roberge; Cabral, Larsson, Johnson, Giaccherini; Sessegnon, Altidore . Subs: Wickham, Moberg Karlsson, Diakite, Ba, Cuellar, Dong-won, Mannone ////FULHAM - Stekelenburg; Riether, Richardson, Hughes, Hangeland (c), Taraabt; Sidwell, Boateng, Duff; Kasami, Berbatov . Subs: Stockdale, Senderos, Ruiz, Karagounis, Briggs, Rodallega, Bent.

  8. Ha ha ha ha, who's been at the Ketchup then? Tony, Cameron, good calls lads and Cameron's in the money. I'll tell you what though, Fulham will have to play better than that if they want to stay up, all they did was give the ball away, a half decent team would have murdered them but, three points is three points. As for Sunderland, anti climax, I didn't see anything good at all, they're just as shyte as last season only without a decent keeper to save their bacon!!!
