90+1' - Substitution for Newcastle United. Steven Taylor replaces Ayoze Perez. #NUFC #AVLNEW

90+3'
Mike Williamson is shown the 13th red card in the history of this PL fixture. There has only been more dismissals in two PL fixtures – Everton/Liverpool (20) and Liverpool/Man Utd (15) (also 13 in Liverpool/Newcastle & Everton/Newcastle).

We are into four minutes of time added on.
89'

A red card for Williamson for a second yellow card as he nudges Delph to the deck.
88'
De Jong has the chance to win it for Newcastle, but a superb block by Guzan to deny the visitors a late winner.
87'
Not exactly classic fare this one. And that is summed up by a free-kick that flies straight out of play.

86' - Yellow card for Mike Williamson for a foul on Darren Bent. #NUFC #AVLNEW

Newcastle have conceded in their last seven away Premier League matches, since a 0-0 draw with Norwich on 28 January 2014 – they have kept just one clean sheet away from home in the PL this calendar year.

78'
Roy Keane giving Westwood a bit of a talking to as we head for the final 10 minutes or so.

Richardson departs for Villa with Darren Bent introduced into proceedings.

72'
Looks like another change is coming for Villa in a bid to break this deadlock.
71'

Newcastle almost playing like the home side with Villa so deep and playing on the break as Weimann is yellow carded for wandering offside.
Newcastle United Substitution
69'
Only Hull (18), Cardiff (18), Crystal Palace (17) and Norwich (17) scored fewer home goals last season than Villa (21).

Senderos picks up a booking for a late challenge off the ball. Smart piece of officiating by Mike Dean.
65'
Aston Villa only managed 21 points from home matches last season – only Cardiff (20), Sunderland (18) and Fulham (18) got fewer.
64'
Sissoko tries to pick out Riviere, but Villa doing well to snuff out the danger. Game perhaps opening up a bit here.
63'
Westwood drives the ball in slightly higher that time, but a brave punch out by the arms of Krul.
62'
Westwood's corner is stabbed clear at the near post. Villa regain possession seconds later. And on we go with another home corner.
Aston Villa Substitution
61'
Sanchez with a glorious ball out to Hutton. Cross is blocked, but Villa have the corner here. Chance to apply some pressure.
60'

Sanchez arrives to take over from N'Zogbia. The home fans don't look too disturbed with that call.
59'
Looks like Sanchez is going to arrive for Villa with Lambert and Keane giving him his final instructions.

#AVFC 0-0 #NUFC - 60mins: Villa under pressure now. Cabella forces two corners in quick succession. #AVFCLIVE

57'
Williamson fresh airs at attempted volley. Real chance of the opener, but he couldn't finish off.
56'
Newcastle are yet to score a goal this season in the Premier League, it took them until their third match last season, Hatem Ben Arfa vs. Fulham.
55'
58.5% of Newcastle’s 41 Premier League goals (exc. OGs) last season came from players who now play for different clubs (Loïc Rémy, Yohan Cabaye, Shola Ameobi and Mathieu Debuchy).
54'
Janmaat drives the ball a few yards over the bar from 18 yards. Plenty of pace on that hit, but shot was always rising.
53'

A flag goes up against Agbonlahor for offside. Will we unearth a goal here? Or will it be 0-0. A rare lunchtime 0-0.

49'
Not sure a 0-0 draw will be altogether unwelcomed by Newcastle in this contest.
48'

Williamson heads clear from deep inside the Newcastle box before an offside flag goes up against Richardson.
46'
Off we go then for this second half.
45+1'
There goes the whistle for the break. 0-0. Probably about right after an energetic first period.
45+1'
We are into one minute time added on.
44'
The rain suddenly begins to tumble down as Williamson is forced to block the N'Zogbia pass. Should probably have got that cross in earlier.
43'
Newcastle have not scored more Premier League goals against any other side than their 62 versus Aston Villa. They have also scored 62 against Tottenham.
42'
Hutton now limping after being caught late by Cabella. Didn't look intentional as Hutton slowly returns to his feet.
41'
Hutton back with a super tracking run to ensure Cabella couldn't get a shot at goal.

#AVFC 0-0 #NUFC - 39mins: Hutton sends Delph down the left and the midfielder's cross is glanced wide by Agbonlahor. #AVFCLIVE

39'
Agbonlahor inches away from connecting in the middle. Superb cross, but couldn't direct the header on goal.
38'
Ball flies straight out of play with Weimann failing to keep it in play out wide. Disappointing end to the latest Villa move, it must be said.
37'
N'Zogbia with a corner for Villa, but Vlaar can't get enough on the delivery as Newcastle manages to carry the ball up the park.
36'
At Villa Park, Newcastle have won the last two and are unbeaten in three.

32' - Lovely control and pass by Remy Cabella to free Riviere but the striker's low shot is gathered well by Brad Guzan. #NUFC #AVLNEW

34'
Anita leans back from 35 yards out, but can't keep the shot down as he blazes his effort miles over the bar. Right idea, wrong execution.

30' - #NUFC undoubtedly with the better of the chances so far but the game is still wide open as we pass the half hour mark. 0-0. #AVLNEW

32'
Janmaat with a clearance for Newcastle after Agbonlahor tried to cut a dash through the middle of the visiting defence.
31'
England manager Roy Hodgson watching this match from the stands at Villa Park.
30'
Delph manages to get within 22 yards of the visiting area, but he lifts the shot wide of the target.
29'
Newcastle with plenty of possession, but hitting on the break tends to suit this Villa side.
27'
Weimann turns to power a shot at the visiting goal, but a strong block by Dummett to prevent that from hitting the rigging.
26'
That 1999/2000 season was the last time that Newcastle lost their opening two Premier League fixtures of a season – that 1-0 home defeat to today’s opponents Aston Villa and a 3-1 loss at Tottenham.
25'
Cabella sees the ball break to him seven yards out, but he somehow nudges the shot wide. Real chance there not taken.
24'
Riviere with a late nudge on Hutton. Clear foul that one. And that is a foul for Villa that they can launch long.

22' - Jack Colback takes it but the ball sails comfortably over Brad Guzan's crossbar. Still goalless at Villa Park. #NUFC #AVLNEW

22'
Colback with a free-kick for the visiting side, but he lifts his effort miles over the bar from distance.
21'
Aston Villa are aiming to win their opening two matches of a Premier League season for the first time since 1999/2000 – when they won 1-0 at today’s opponents Newcastle and 3-0 home v Everton.
20'
Nice moment there from both sets of supporters with that round of applause. Emotional and well meaning.
19'
Aston Villa FC: "Newcastle United fans are celebrating the life of two dedicated fans this season - and we invite our supporters to join them during Saturday's early-afternoon kick-off. Liam Sweeney and John Alder died on July 17 - two of the 298 killed in the MH17 air disaster."
18'
N'Zogbia goes for goal. Plenty of dip and swerve on that effort, but the ball flies wide of the goal. A few yards wide. Decent effort.
17'
Westwood taken out by Colback, and there is a free-kick chance for the home side 25 yards from goal.
16'
There has not been a goalless draw in a Premier League match played on a Saturday lunchtime with a 12:45pm kick-off (local time) in over 18 months – since QPR’s 0-0 home draw v Norwich on Feb 2nd 2013.
15'
Cabella takes up a lovely position out wide, but he lifts the cross straight out of play when he should have been dropping that into the home box.
14'
There have been 115 goals scored in the 37 completed Premier League matches in that timeslot since that last 0-0 Premier League draw on a Saturday with a 12:45pm (local time) kick off, at an average of over three per game (3.1).
13'
Vlaar running around the side of the park. Looks like he is going to be able to play on. Which is good news for the home fans.
12'
Ron Vlaar now on the deck needing some treatment. He was brave racing out to try to block that attempt bny the Newcastle player.
11'
Cabella with a corner. Not cleared by Villa, but a glorious chance for Gouffran is not taken as he misses the volley from five yards out.
10'
This is the 73rd top flight meeting between the two sides at Villa’s ground. Villa have won 36 matches so far, Newcastle have won 19 and there have been 18 draws.

9' - Difficult headed chance for Charles N'Zogbia and the former Newcastle loops the ball onto the roof of the net. #NUFC #AVLNEW

8'
N'Zogbia with a chance at the back post, but he nods onto the top of the bar. Decent chance for Villa, but couldn't direct the header on goal.
7'
Williamson takes a tumble over the top of Agbonlahor, and the Villa man is penalised for obstruction. But the free-kick comes to nothing.
6'
Referee Mike Dean gave six yellow cards out in his opening match this season – the most, along with Martin Atkinson and Jon Moss.
5'
Villa break to the other end through Agbonlahor, but his shot is charged down. Villa with loads of pace in their side. Match swinging from end to end so far.
4'
Anita with a deflected shot from distance, but straight into the arms of Guzan.
3'
Gouffran with a long ball, but he knocks it straight out of play trying to pick out a winger. And on we go with the score level at 0-0.
2'
This is the 73rd top flight meeting between the two sides at Villa’s ground. Villa have won 36 matches so far, Newcastle have won 19 and there have been 18 draws.
1'
Off we go then. Newcastle get the ball rolling. So to speak.

12:25
Newscaslte are unchanged from last week's loss to City and managed Alan Pardew said: "We face a Villa side which has just picked up an away win and in the Premier League. That is gold-dust, so they will be feeling fairly confident to turn us over at home and we have to make sure we are a really stiff opposition. They have good players – they still carry great players, Aston Villa, and it will be a difficult game.”
12:20
Paul Lambert: "You can talk about inconsistency but they have always finished strongly, they have always been up there. It is a club with high expectancy levels as well, a bit like ourselves. Alan Pardew has done a really good job. There’s only so many teams can get into Europe, there’s only so many teams can win the title."
12:15
NEWCASTLE NEWS: Newcastle will be hoping to pick up their first points this season as they travel to the Midlands following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Premier League champions Manchester City last weekend. Alan Pardew's men were competent with the ball against City and kept Manuel Pellegrini's side at bay for much of the game. New recruits Emmanuel Riviere and Remy Cabella impressed on their debuts, but Newcastle's inability to register a single shot on goal throughout the 90 minutes will certainly worry Pardew.
12:10
VILLA NEWS: Aston Villa can go top of the league - albeit only for a couple of hours - with a win over Newcastle at Villa Park on Saurday. Following Paul Lambert's side's impressive win over Stoke on the opening day of the season, the claret and blue outfit welcome the Magpies and will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season in which Villa, who were totally devoid of any creativity or invention, were taken apart by Newcastle. Carlos Sanchez and former England midfielder Joe Cole are on the bench with Stoke unchanged from last week.
12:05
Teams: Aston Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Senderos, Vlaar, Cissokho, Westwood, Delph, Richardson, Weimann, N'Zogbia, Agbonlahor..subs: Subs: Given, Baker, Bacuna, Cole, Bent, Sanchez, Grealish////Newcastle: Tim Krul; Janmaat, Williamson, Coloccini, Dummett; V.Anita, Colback; Gouffran, Sissoko, R.Cabella; E.Riviere..subs: Elliot, Haidara, Taylor, Abeid, Obertan, de Jong, Perez
