Well, it was a poor spectacle for the most part, but it certainly picked up after the Stoke goal and City were forced to throw everything they had in an effort to chase the points. Stoke certainly deserved the win with a well-taken goal and some impressively stout defending. Thanks for your company this afternoon.

FULL-TIME Man City 0-1 Stoke. Mame Biram Diouf scores an amazing solo goal to secure a famous Stoke win #MCISTK http://t.co/NtXWJ3rZt9

-
Full-time! And the cheers from the Stoke fans are resounding.
-
Demichelis and Navas get in each other's way and that'll be City's last chance.
90'+4
City are still pushing for that equaliser.
90'+2
City fans are streaming to the exit now, as Stoke get a corner and proceed to not put it into the box.
90'+1
Good ball from Fernandinho and that loops all the way through and over Dzeko's head.
-
Four added minutes, and that's met with boos all round.
90'
Manuel Pellegrini looks proper fed up on the touchline.

Man City

Stoke

87'
Toure thinks he's got a penalty as Pieters swings a leg at the ball and catches the man as well. No.
86'
Stoke are making every effort to slow this down wherever possible.

84. Time running out for City now. Yaya bundles his way through the heart of the Stoke defence but fouls Bardsley in the process

83'
Peter Crouch stumbles through the City defence but fails to take the ball with him.
81'
Stoke are in no rush now. Very slow to get the ball for their own free kick.
Stoke City Substitution
80'

Muniesa replaces Moses, who's currently on the ground having hurt himself in his defensive efforts.
79'
And every time Stoke clear, because they're defending in such numbers, the ball is pinging right back.
78'
City are taking these repeated corners quickly and maintaining the pressure.
77'
Toure's shot is goalbound - but deflects off Wilson and out for another corner!
75'
Another firm clearance from Wilson, and another City corner stoutly defended.
73'
Aguero does brilliantly at the back post to trap the ball and evade Diouf, but his shot on the volley is snatched.

PHOTO Stoke's Mame Biram Diouf celebrates his extraordinary opener against Man City. The Potters lead still 1-0 http://t.co/DA84cJaRv3

72'
Another real chance for Stoke, courtesy of Peter Crouch, rising between two City defenders, but again the header is wide.
70'
Aguero shouts for handball as the ball pings off Wilson in the box, but he had no chance to get out of the way there.
68'
A blow to Peter Crouch's head as he collides with Joe Hart's ribcage, and play is stopped.
67'
Neat little ball in from Navas, and Dzeko is distracted by Bardsley and can't get a decent header in.
66'
Aguero has been strangely anonymous so far this half. City are pressing in numbers now, with Wilson throwing his body in the way to prevent shots.
Stoke City Substitution
65'

Odemwingie is going off as well, replaced by Charlie Adam.
63'

A pair of substitutions - Nasri and Jovetic off, Navas and Dzeko on, but Demichelis is having treatment off the pitch as well.
Manchester City Substitution
Manchester City Substitution
-
Meanwhile, substitute Odemwingie seems to have strained his knee.
62'
Moses is unmarked at the far post and can't get a final touch to the ball in from the right!

1341 - Mame Biram Diouf has scored his first Premier League goal for 1,341 days. Gap.

58'

GOAL! Well. Mame Diouf gets his first goal for Stoke and that seems probably fair. On the break after City's corner, he takes on the defence, and it's through Hart's legs.
Stoke City Goal

Right Footed - Bottom Center

57'
Firm shot from Toure on the edge of the box, tipped over by Begovic.
56'
The crowd are urging City forward, but Stoke are playing with half their midfield across the back as well, and they're struggling to make a breakthrough.
54'

Stoke work an elaborate routine and Crouch has plenty of time on the ball to take it down, turn, and play a high ball towards the far post. The flag is up, though.
Manchester City Yellow card

Man City

Stoke

53'

Moses is brought down by Fernandinho thanks to a hefty barge.
52'
Nasri is looking much the liveliest City player at the moment.
51'
Good link-up play, and Bardsley deflects Nasri's shot out for a corner.
50'
Silva tries to split the Stoke defence but Wilson gets his boot to that.
49'
Kolarov lets Jovetic down on the left, and it's out for a throw.
47'
Moses has a rather timid shot from distance as Nasri closes him down.
-
Stoke on the attack immediately. Corner.

Half time substitution: Jonathan Walters is replaced by Peter Odemwingie.

46'
Let's hope for a slightly more inspiring second half.
-
That's half-time. Rather disappointing match so far.
-
Jovetic thinks he's been fouled by Shawcross on the edge of the box, but referee Mason disagrees.
Stoke City Substitution
45'+3
Very long and looping cross from Pieters. Not good.
45'+1
Aguero's backheel reaches Kolarov, whose ball in reaches Toure - and that shot is rising.
45'
Three added minutes because of those injuries.
44'
Stoke are defending in numbers, and although Jovetic is working hard it's to no avail - Silva has to shove at his marker in order to get any contact with the ball, and it's a free kick.

41. Into the closing stages of a rather rhythm-less, stop-start and fairly even game. Stoke look a threat and City need more cutting edge

42'
More scrappiness, more hacking of ankles; this time Kompany takes a smack to his boot.
40'
Kolarov does well to hold off the Stoke defence but he can't get a ball past them.
39'
After a bright start, this isn't a particularly inspiring game, with few real chances so far.
Manchester City Substitution
37'

Looking like Fernando will be going off to be replaced by Fernandinho.
36'
Aguero does well to hold off Wilson, and Jovetic waits a little bit too long, meaning that he has the ball taken off his toes before he can play in Nasri.
35'
He's playing on, and everyone is suitably hydrated.
34'
Fernando is now down injured, and as may be expected, everyone else grabs a bottle of water while he receives some treatment.
32'
Smart little free kick routine, played in to Silva whose ball through the box is just a touch too long.
30'
Crouch is in ahead of Demichelis, takes the ball down beautifully, but it's not a great shot.
28'
Wayward passing all round at the moment.
-
Oh, seems to be Jovetic trying to pick a fight with Shawcross after the Stoke player gave a bit of stick to Silva. A bit ridiculous.
26'
Lots of whistle-peeping as referee Lee Mason gives a firm talking-to to an assorted collection of folk. Unsure quite what happened there.
25'
Chance as Toure fires but it's always rising.
23'
Now a foul on Moses by Toure. This is becoming slightly scrappy.
Stoke City Yellow card

Man City

Stoke

21'

Card for Bardsley, just tapping Silva's foot away from underneath him as they challenge for a loose ball.
19'
Kolarov appears to be a touch too physical on Diouf twice over, once in the box and once not, but neither challenge gets a decision from the officials.
17'
A little too slow from City, with Aguero's ball backwards losing them impetus.

PHOTO Worrying times for Man City as @aguerosergiokun receives treatment early on against Stoke. He's playing on... http://t.co/AKdFK4o0Ao

16'

Diouf moves forward just too early.
15'
Sloppy from City in defence, with Fernando giving Moses the chance to break. Kompany nicks the ball off him, and Sagna follows it up.
14'
Wilson blocks a frustrated Aguero in the box.
13'
City are passing in lovely triangles. Beautiful to watch.
11'
Good save from Begovic, down to his right after a firm attempt from Nasri thanks to a cute ball from Sagna.

MATCH SHOT: Yaya Toure on the ball in the game's early stages #mcfc http://t.co/aoGkV7GdLq

-
Nzonzi's shot is well high and wide after a good run through the middle.
9'
Kompany takes Diouf to the ground. Free kick to Stoke.
8'
Toure struggles to get power on his header and Begovic gathers that in.
6'
Corner to City after Kolarov's cross is cleared. It goes right across the face of goal.
5'
Right, back under way again - Aguero is playing on but has a very distressed look on his face.
-
Maybe I jinxed him.
-
Aguero takes a knock and is lying face first on the ground. He seems to be holding the back of his leg.
2'
On the attack from the off and City are signalling their intentions.
1'
Kick-off!
14:57
By the way, if Sergio Aguero can keep up his goals-per-minute ratio from the starting XI, we should have a fistful of goals by half-time. I for one am looking forward to it.
14:55
The players are out and ready to do their handshaking routine.
14:50
The chaps at Opta providing the stats you need to know.

3 - Stevan Jovetic has scored three goals in his last three Premier League appearances, after scoring two in his previous 12. Upturn.

14:45
Former City boss Mark Hughes: "They have a quite incredible squad of players, and to be honest, it is tough for us to analyse them and have a clear indication of what they may do on the day. It's impossible to second guess what Mr Pellegrini [City manager Manuel Pellegrini] is going to do because of the options he has available to him. I watched them on Monday night, and for an hour they were absolutely fantastic. It will be a very difficult afternoon for us for sure. I am looking forward to going back there, though."
14:40
Manuel Pellegrini: "Of course I am absolutely sure we are going to have a lot of problems against a difficult team like Stoke. Last year, in our best moment, we won just 1-0 at home. In the first two games they have just one draw but I am sure they are going to come here to try and do a tough game, and we need to play very well if we are to win."
14:35
Aleksandar Kolarov wins his mini duel with Gael Clichy for the left-back spot this afternoon.

14:30
The most interesting piece of Stoke team news is that Chelsea loanee Victor Moses starts.
14:25
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini picks a fearsome attack with creative duo Samir Nasri and David Silva floating just behind Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic. Good luck, Ryan Shawcross and Marc Wilson.
