  • Live Commentary

    Time:90'
    • Rangers
    • Dundee United
    • 90+4' And that is that. A shock, but it never looked like that on the pitch as Dundee were comfortable for the entire 90 minutes.
    • 90+3' Dundee prevent the corner at the expense of a throw. Kerkar's shot is blocked, little has a header from distance, but well over the bar...
    • 90+1' Rangers are surely out of time now. Another ball into the box, but again Dundee shephard it out of the box.
    • 90' Both players pick up a yellow. It was one of those where there was no foul, but a tangle of legs at such speed that a leg could easily have been snapped.
    • 89' Lacny is in the thick of the action straight away as he chases down the ball and smashes into McGregor who got their first. McGregor's furious, though the striker did nothing wrong.
    • 88' Robertson and Edu collide and both players drop to the floor. In the interval Dundee replace Mackay-Steven with new signing Lacny.
    • 87' Dundee are just clearing the ball at any opportunity now and fair enough, there's very little time left.
    • 85' This is ridiculous, Mackay-Steven draws the foul from Bartley, who leaves his foot in a bit too long and he's the fourth to pick up a yellow for a foul on Mackay-Steven.
    • 84' Bartley wins the header in Dundee's box, but he blatantly pushed the defender as he did so and the ref saw it.
    • 83' Davis wins the foul about 30 yards from goal. He leaves the freekick for Aluko who swipes a left footed shot well over the crossbar.
    • 82' How many yellow cards has Mackay-Steven caused Rangers players to receive today? It's at least three for sure.
    • 81' Davis with a better ball in, but it evades everyone apart from the keeper. Once again it's Mackay-Steven who on the break draws the foul and Edu now picks up the yellow.
    • 80' It's Bartley's turn, who to be fair is a centre-back, to overhit a cross from the right. It lands on the roof of the net, but Pernis was never worried.
    • 79' Wylde puts his head down and runs down the left. His cross is cut out by the first man and out for a throw.
    • 78' Rankin straight back down the other end with an excellent challenge to prevent the shot coming in.
    • 77' It's sp flat from Rangers. They lose the ball in midfield and Rankin on the half volley hits one towards the top corner. McGregor just about holds on to it though.
    • 76' Edu picks up the ball about 30 yards from goal and it's a terrible shot that goes limply wide of the near post to jeers from the Dundee fans.
    • 74' It's a drop ball and Rangers let Dundee have it, and they kick it all the way through to McGregor. Wylde out on the left loops in a cross, but there's way too much on it.
    • 73' Little and Gunning clash heads as they go up for the high ball. Both plaers look badly hurt, but it's Little who gets up first.
    • 72' Chance for Little at the near post as the ball is whipped in, but he flicks it narrowly over the crossbar.
    • 71' Arstrong picks up a yellow now for showing his studs in a challenge.
    • 70' Rangers substitution: Papac comes off for Greg Wylde.
    • 69' Aluko has a pot shot from distance and puts it high, high over the bar. Rangers are quickly running out of time...
    • 68' Great delivery again from Dixon and Daly beats Bocanegra in the air, but he can't keep his header down.
    • 67' Kenneth with a chance to kill the tie with a free header under no pressure. He has to generate his own power as it came from a half clearance, but should do better as McGregor clears with ease.
    • 66' Yet again Mackay-Steven is on the ball and quick feet fools Goian, who dives in and picks up the yellow.
    • 65' Mackay-Steven fails to find Dixon on the overlap and Rangers have it back. Pernis punches the cross under pressure and again Dundee break.
    • 64' Bartley goes in hard on Dixon, it's a perfect opportunity to clear him out, but not foul him as he's half on the floor already.
    • 63' Ironically Little will provide Rangers with more height and presence up front than Healy.
    • 62' Rangers substitution: Healy is off for and Little comes on.
    • 61' Mackay-Steven again uses his pace to full effect and wins a foul for his team on the left touchline as he again breaks.
    • 60' A Rangers corner is half cleared, Edu helps it back in and it's again scrambled away for a corner.
    • 59' Davis takes the freekick from deep and it's over the top for Bartley, who again comes around the outside. He can't reach it though and it's out.
    • 58' Rangers don't really look like getting into this at the moment. They've got plaenty of the ball, but aren't doing much with it.
    • 57' Mackay-Steven gets the yellow card for treading on the back of Bartley's ankles. If that was intentional it was nasty.
    • 56' Aluko is moving gingerly after that earlier kick to the knee. He's playing on though and he tries to thread Healy through to no avail.
    • 55' Goian puts McGregor under a little bit of pressure with Daly sniffing around, but he gets there first and clears.
    • 54' Aluko stops playing as he thinks he wins the foul after getting a kick on his leg. He foolishly puts a hand on it and the ref blows for a hand ball!
    • 53' Daly's clambering over Bartley and gives away the foul. Kerkar chases down a long ball into the area, Pernis claims.
    • 52' It's Edu's turn to foul as Dundee look to break from a Rangers corner. He also escapes without picking up the yellow.
    • 51' Davis jinks through towards the area, but again it's cleared. Edu loses the ball, but Aluko picks it up and his shot takes a deflection for a corner.
    • 50' Armstrong with a lovely ball in towards the back post. There's very slightly too much on it though and it sails just past Mackay-Steven.
    • 49' Aluko takes the corner, it a dangerous one, but it's cleared and Mackay-Stevens breaks at pace and Davis brings him down. It should really be a yellow, but he gets away with it.
    • 48' Kerkar threads the ball through for Healy who wins the corner. He couldn't have done much else with it so he did well.
    • 47' Pernis has to clear with his feet as he was worried the deflecion might be seen as a pass back. Rangers have started in urgent fashion here.
    • 46' Rangers substitution: The disappointing Celik has been replaced by Kerkar for the second half.
    • 45' No stoppage time at all and Rangers leave the pitch to the sound of whistles and booes.
    • 44' The corner comes in and Pernis comes for it, not really getting anything on it, but it's scrambled away.
    • 43' Pernis is fine though. Edu fails to control on the edge of the area, bringing to an end a promising move. Rangers still have it though and Bartey wins the corner.
    • 42' Healy chases after a ball nad Kenneth and Pernis get in a twist as both go for the ball. Kenneth clears before Pernis can hold and Healy collides the the goalkeeper in the confusion.
    • 41' Aluko's fouled this time and Rangers take it quickly. Davis clips a diagonal over the top for Bartley, who makes a run around the outside. He gets his head on it, but it's a comfortable reach for Pernis.
    • 40' Aluko goes down and hits the turf in frustration as the ref ignores his appeals.
    • 39' Dundee again pour forward and look dangerous with every attack. Davis hits back, but loses the ball as he passes the half way line.
    • 38' Wallace punts it long for Healy to chase and of course nothing comes of it. They need more and soon.
    • 37' Russell gets the yellow card for taking the shot after the whistle had gone for offside. He couldn't have claimed he couldn't hear it, because there's not a lot of noise from the home fans at the minute.
    • 36' Robertson with a fantastic intervention to stop Rangers from getting in. Aluko slots a ball into Celik, who from way out right in the area goes for a woeful shot that travels miles wide.
    • 35' Goal! Rangers 0-2 Dundee - Dixon plays into Russell who in the inside left channel. He takes one touch then thumps the ball past McGregor into the roof of the net!
    • 33' Rangers taking a leaf out of Dundee's book and pressing higher up the pitch and they're having more of the ball now.
    • 32' Daly picks up a yellow card for a hand in the face of Bartley when going for the ball.
    • 31' Celik can't beat the first man with his cross and it's all very unimaginative from Rangers, other than Aluko who has been excellent.
    • 30' Healy wins the corner off of Dixon, it's a really good ball in by Aluko, but Goian can't get on the end of it; maybe a little unsighted in his defence.
    • 29' Goian out jumped by Daly, but the knock on doesn't come to anything. Dundee back on the ball though until Armstrong threads a ball that rolls straight through to McGregor.
    • 28' Goian with a good ball over the top for Healy, who nods back for Aluko. Papac puts the cross in, but it's straight into the arms of Pernis.
    • 27' Goian leads with his arm slightly as he goes up for the ball against Daly. The freekick is pumped into the box, but Daly this time commits the foul.
    • 25' Daly tries to slot through Russell, but he's offside and knows it and leaves the ball. Daly really should have held on to that.
    • 24' Aluko plays healy into the right hand corner of the area. Healy takes his time and goes for the far corner, but it's brilliantly saved by Pernis, who saw it late.
    • 23' Armstrong goes down as he darts towards the penalty area. The referee doesn't oblige though and Rangers are back in possession.
    • 22' Dixon swings in the cross from the left hand touchline, but it goes straight out for a goal kick. McCoist isn't looking happy at the moment.
    • 21' Aluko fouls Mackay-Steven from behind as Dundee again break forward. He gets the yellow and he'll count that as one for the team as it was looking a dangerous break.
    • 20' Dundee are denying Rangers any sort of space and now that they have the lead are going to be happy to keep it tight.
    • 19' Back to the goal; it was a fantastic cross from Russell for the goal, but Rangers should first have dealt with the original corner, and then also the follow up cross that came right across McGregor's path.
    • 18' Fantastic skill form Aluko as he flicks the ball inside, then outside the defender in the box. From a tight angle he drives towards the far corner, but it's a good save.
    • 16' Goal! Rangers 0-1 Dundee - Gunning with the header as it bounces in off the crossbar! Rangers were all at sea defensively, with the the third consecutive cross into the box finally being converted.
    • 15' Dixon with a stinging shot from distance. It looks like it's travelling wide, though McGregor tips it wide anyway.
    • 14' The corner comes over and it's straight out, though there was some tugging in the box by Rangers defenders. The ref isn't interested though.
    • 13' Russell wins the corner as Bocanegra is forced into the challenge after being out paced.
    • 12' Bartley with a diagonal ball iver towards Papac, but there's slightly too much on it. Rangers still on the ball, but they're facing a packed defence.
    • 11' Daly with a sight of goal, but he elects to cross low and it's blocked, then seconds later Russell cuts in from the right and his left footed shot is also blocked. Dundee looking dangerous.
    • 10' Davis tries to clip a ball over the defence for Aluko, but Kenneth gets a head on it and back to his goalkeeper.
    • 9' Aluko hits a daisy-cutter from distance. Plenty of power, but well wide to jeers from the away side.
    • 8' Aluko commits the foul and Neilson pumps it in to the box from the half way line. It comes to nothing though and is cleared.
    • 7' Dundee are pressing high to good effect with McGregor in the Rangers goal seeing plenty of passes coming back to him at the moment.
    • 6' Daly again chases after the ball and he looks slightly blocked off by the defender as McGregor comes out to clear away.
    • 5' Rangers stroke the ball about the defence. Edu gets on the bal and almost loses it, but is given the foul.
    • 4' Aluko does well to hold the ball up, but his attempted lay off is cut out by the defence.
    • 2' Daly charging towards the ball and it's a 50-50 between him and the diving McGregor, who just about gets there first, but it's a nasty, if accidental collision as Russell put into the unguarded net. It was a foul though so not given.
    • 1' Rangers get the game underway and a bout of head tennis breaks out immediately. The stadium, incidentally, looks only about two thirds full.
    • 12:10 It's been turbulent up at Ibrox recently, and this won't be any easy game for Rangers. On paper, there's probably not much between the two teams, but the Scottish Cup is probably the home side's best chance of silverware this season so a win is vital.
    • 12:05 Peter Houston: "I'm sure Coisty will be using what is happening at the club as a spur for his players, so there's no doubt that we face a really tough fixture on Sunday. They have a good group there with big characters and they will be using that to bring them together. They are a good side, they beat Hibs recently by scoring a few goals. They have a few injuries at the moment but still have a squad packed with quality."
    • 12:00 Ally McCoist, on claims that he has considered quitting having looked grim faced following a meeting with chairman Craig Whyte: "Absolutely never. There must have been 500 snaps of me leaving Ibrox and about 10 snaps with my face tripping me. My face wasn't tripping me. I can assure supporters I wasn't storming out. I'm as committed to doing this job as I've ever been."
    • 11:55 The teams are in - Rangers: McGregor, Bocanegra, Goian, Bartley, Wallace, Papac, Celik, Edu, Aluko, Davis, Healy. Subs: Alexander, McCulloch, Wylde, Kerkar, Little/// Dundee: Pernis, Neilson, Kenneth, Gunning, Dixon, Armstrong, Robertson, Rankin, Mackay-Steven, Russell, Daly. Subs: Banks, Dillon, Flood, Ryan, Lacny.
    • 11:50 Dundee United midfielder Danny Swanson will miss out. Swanson has returned to Tannadice after going to England to receive sugar injections in his knee but a lack of training means he will not be risked at Ibrox. Boss Peter Houston will add new signing Milos Lacny to his squad, although he is likely to start on the bench. Scott Severin (knee) andFelipe Mentel (knee) are long-term absentees.
    • 11:45 Rangers have no fresh injury worries. Manager Ally McCoist is hopeful striker Kyle Lafferty (torn hamstring) and full-back Steven Whittaker(hernia operation) will both be back in action in the next two or three weeks. Steven Naismith, Kirk Broadfoot, Jamie Ness and Kane Hemmings also remain on the sidelines this afternoon.
