    • - St Mirren hold on for their first major cup win since 1987. What a cup final! A great advert for Scottish football. Wonderful game. Congratulations to St Mirren.
    • - FULL TIME: St Mirren 3-2 Hearts: ST MIRREN WIN THE SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP!
    • 92' Hearts are bombarding the St Mirren backline with long balls but Goodwin is dealing well with them. Less than a minute to play now.
    • 90' St Mirren sub: Esmael Goncalves OFF, Lee Mair ON.
    • 90' Three minutes of stoppage time to be played. Hearts still hunting down a leveller.
    • 89' Stevenson hits the upright again! The angle was tight but after his first effort was saved by Samson Stevenson strikes the post for the second time.
    • 88' Hearts have a few efforts on goal since Stevenson's strike but they need to show a little bit more composure. They're snatching at their shots.
    • 87' The noise inside Hampden is cranked up as Hearts come forward.
    • 86' St Mirren use a couple of corners to eat up a few seconds of regular time.
    • 85' GOAL! St Mirren 3-2 Hearts (Stevenson): Stevenson places a shot past Samson to give Hearts a chance of pulling this back. Less than five minutes to play.
    • 83' Stevenson hits the bar! Wilson's knock-down from a deep freekick into the box is picked up by Stevenson but he can't find the net, instead finding the bar.
    • 83' Gary Teale booked.
    • 82' McHattie's shot on goal takes a deflection, forcing a good save from Samson before Van Zanten throws himself in front of Ngoo's rebound effort.
    • 80' St Mirren sub: John McGinn OFF, Graham Carey ON.
    • 80' Hearts sub: Mehdi Taouil OFF, Dale Carrick ON.
    • 78' There wasn't a single St Mirren fan sitting down for the substitution of Thompson there. If Saints hold on to this he'll be the man credited with dragging his side to the cup.
    • 77' St Mirren sub: Steven Thompson OFF, Sam Parkin ON.
    • 75' Hearts throw a freekick from 40 yards into the box but Samson gathers after a spot of pinball between the St Mirren and Hearts players.
    • 73' The Jambos appear to be running out of ideas. It's actually Saints who look more likely to score when they break forward.
    • 71' Can Hearts wind up one last effort to drag themselves back into this game? Doesn't look like it right now. St Mirren doing a good job of seeing this out. Didn't foresee this after that opening half an hour.
    • 70' Hearts sub: Darren Barr OFF, Jason Holt ON.
    • 69' Ngoo booked for a late challenge on Newton.
    • 67' The quality of the St Mirren goals have been outstanding this afternoon. Newton, who is on loan from Newcastle, smashed that ball into the net without a moment's hesitation.
    • 66' GOAL! St Mirren 3-1 Hearts (Newton): Saints have a third! Newton plays a great give and go with Goncalves before lashing a shot past McDonald.
    • 64' Rather surprised Locke has opted to replace Walker. For me he had been one of Hearts most dangerous players, even as the Jambos have dropped off in the second half.
    • 62' Hearts sub: Jamie Walker OFF, Arvydas Novikovas ON.
    • 62' Taouil's shot is charged down by the St Mirren defence.
    • 61' Goncalves picks up the ball on the halfway line before driving into the open space. He draws the Hearts backline forward, creating space for Teale on the right but the attacker decides to play a more complex ball through to Thompson instead. Wrong decision.
    • 59' A couple of break away attacks sees the game stretched to a frantic pace but Ngoo's cross is wild and St Mirren wind up another advance up the field. Entertaining game, this.
    • 58' Hearts need to find another level. The high pressing game from the first half has disappeared and St Mirren are playin themselves further up the field.
    • 56' A low corner to the front post finds Thompson who rides the challenge of Webster before smashing a shot towards goal. The ball is blocked by the collective mass of the Hearts defence and despite a number of half-hearted shouts of 'HAND BALL' the referee waves play on and the danger is cleared.
    • 55' Taouil collects the ball on the edge of the area, jinks away from a challenge before shooting at goal, but his effort takes a deflection and Samson saves comfortably.
    • 54' Every so often St Mirren manage to get Paul McGowan on the ball and he offers a calming influence. But depsite the scoreline Saints aren't using him enough!
    • 53' Taouil does brilliantly to get to the byline past McGinn and fires a ball across the face of goal where it hits Ngoo and forces Samson into a reflex save. Not sure whether the striker or the keeper knew much about that!
    • 52' St Mirren look to be dealing better with Ngoo and Sutton, who aren't being allowed as much space as they were in the first half. However, Walker is still proving a threat.
    • 50' Walker fires a shot well wide of the target after cutting inside on his right foot. Hearts look slightly shellshocked. They've been the better side for much of this match but Thompson has dragged St Mirren into the lead.
    • 49' McHattie swings a wonderful ball into the box from a corner but with Andy Webster advancing Thompson heads clear under pressure.
    • 48' Great movement by Thompson to get on the end of the cross but Danny Wilson simply didn't do enough to close down the former Rangers striker.
    • 46' GOAL! St Mirren 2-1 Hearts (Thompson): What a turnaround this is! Thompson is afforded too much space by the Hearts defence who gets on the end of a low cross to stab high into the net.
    • 45' Second half underway!
    • - I suspect St Mirren manager Lennon will be formulating a way for his side to deal with Ngoo and Sutton better in the second half. The two Hearts strikers hav caused mayhem at times and the Paisley Saints might not get away with it for much longer.
    • - What have you made of the game so far? Do Hearts deserve to be ahead? Will they rue those missed chances come full time? Let me know on Twitter - @grahamruthven.
    • 45' Referee Craig Thomson calls time on a fascinating half of football. Hearts were the better side for the majority of the 45 minutes but nevertheless St Mirren head into the break level.
    • 44' Ngoo tries an ambitious volley on the turn from 25 yards but even if you weren't watching, the ironic cheers from the St Mirren fans tells you where that one ended up.
    • 42' Teale almost takes advantage of a poor backpass but McDonald clears with a slide challenge. Now it's Hearts that look on edge!
    • 41' St Mirren no longer look so vulnerable in defence as Goodwin holds firm against Ngoo.
    • 40' Thompson was always going to be key for St Mirren if they were to stage a challenge here today and it was his masterful turn and pass that created that goal. Wonderful play.
    • 37' This game has a completely different complexion now. St Mirren don't deserve to be level but should they go into the break level they'll take great encouragement from that for the second half. However, there's still five minutes to play before half-time.
    • 36' GOAL! St Mirren 1-1 Hearts (Goncalves): From absolutely nowhere St Mirren restore parity! Thompson turns and releases Teale through on goal who squares to Goncalves to tap home.
    • 35' Goodwin plays a sweeping ball out to Goncalves on the right but the Portuguese striker is called offside.
    • 34' However, Hearts deserve a lot of credit for the way they're playing. Locke's side aren't letting their opposition settle at all and it's getting results.
    • 33' To me it seems St Mirren are trying to go from front to back too quickly. Even when they don't play the long ball the little flicks and tricks to try and release the wingers aren't coming off.
    • 31' St Mirren are hanging on here! Manager Lennon either needs to change things up or make it clear to his side they need to slow the game down. Lucky to be only one goal down.
    • 30' Mehdi Taouil angles a shot across the face of goal after jinking in and out of the St Mirren defence but the ball dribbles wide of the post.
    • 28' McHattie's freekick into the box causes mayhem in the St Mirren box, with both Ngoo and Sutton finding space, but neither can get on the end of the ball and Samson is forced into a diving save.
    • 27' Van Zanten swings a dangerous looking ball into the box from the right but it's cleared well by Hearts.
    • 25' Goncalves makes the most of a long ball up field, taking the ball on his chest before swivelling and striking at goal. However, Jamie McDonald catches despite the bounce the ball took in front of him.
    • 24' Hearts are awarded a freekick in a dangerous area after a foul by Marc McAusland but Walker's set piece is collected with ease by Samson.
    • 23' It's quite clear St Mirren need to get their midfielders on the ball more often. They have no control over the game at the moment. Hearts are very comfortable.
    • 21' Hearts strike the post! Walker beats his man to the byline and stabs a great ball to the back post where Sutton is. However, the angle is tight and his header strikes the post.
    • 20' Teale puts a teasing cross into the box but can't find either Goncalves or Thompson.
    • 19' The Jambos come forward again but this time Stevenson's pass is wayward and Saints can regain possession.
    • 18' Finally, St Mirren have some prolonged possession, knocking the ball around their backline calmy. However, it's then fired long allowing Hearts to come right back at them.
    • 17' Walker plays a low cross into the St Mirren box, where Sutton is lurking, but the frontman can't connect. If he had that could've given Samson something to think about.
    • 15' Ngoo continues to cause St Mirren problems, this time forcing them to concede a throw in well into their own half.
    • 14' St Mirren need to gather themselves quickly or they could find themselves two down. Paul McGowan could be key for them in settling down the pace of the game.
    • 12' Hearts are pushing forward again, this time through Ngoo. He tries to barge his way through Goodwin on his way to goal but the St Mirren captain stands firm. This time.
    • 10' Stevenson's goal typified how Hearts have started this game, with Ngoo closing down the Saints backline to create the chance for Stevenson, whose shot actually appeared to get a deflection on its way into the net.
    • 9' GOAL! St Mirren 0-1 Hearts (Ryan Stevenson): The midfielder twists and turns, forcing his way into the box, before angling a shot into the bottom left hand corner of Craig Samson's goal.
    • 8' Paul McGowan creates space for himself on the edge of the opposition box, skipping past a couple of challenges, but his chipped effort floats over the crossbar. He's not short of creativity, that's for sure!
    • 7' Van Zanten concedes a freekick after bringing down Jamie Walker.
    • 6' Paul McGowan gets on the ball for the first time and sets Gary Teale free on the right side, but McHattie does well to get across and make the challenge, preventing the cross from reaching the Hearts box.
    • 4' Hearts have started the brighter of the two sides here, not letting St Mirren settle in possession at all.
    • 3' Hearts create the first real chance in front of goal, with Ryan Stevenson crossing the ball to the near post where John Sutton flicks the ball back into the danger area. However, he can't find a team-mate to take advantage and it's cleared.
    • 2' It's a dull (or dreich, as the locals say) day in Glasgow. Hopefully this game can brighten things up.
    • 1' And we're underway at Hampden!
    • 15:00 The sides walk out to some crass dance music drowning out the sound of both sets of fans. Ah, modern football.
    • 14:55 Less than five minutes until kick-off now and Hampden appears to be filling up nicely. Lennon reaffirms before kick-off that his side has "earned the right to be here" while Locke describes his new role as Hearts manager as "a dream come true."
    • 14:50 There's no doubt Hearts are the favourites for this one but having seen what St Mirren did to Celtic in the semi-final the Jambos will need to be wary of the Paisley side. Looks like Locke has gone for a physical frontline, selecting on loan Liverpool striker Michael Ngoo to play alongside John Sutton.
    • 14:45 It's St Patrick's Day and that could be a good omen for St Mirren, who in Irish players Jim Goodwin and David Van Zanten they have two of their most key players. They could be crucial if Saints are to claim their first major cup since 1987.
    • 14:40 Get in touch with me on Twitter (@grahamruthven) to let me know your thoughts ahead of kick-off at 3pm.
    • 14:35 Both sides line-up pretty much as expected. Will be interesting to see how St Mirren use Steven Thompson as a front man. He was integral in their semi-final win over Celtic.
    • - TEAM NEWS: St Mirren: Samson; Dummett, Van Zanten, McAusland, Goodwin; McGinn, Newton, McGowan, Teale; Goncalves, Thompson. Subs: Mair, McLean, Parkin, Carey, Adam /// Hearts: McDonald; Wilson, Barr, Webster, McHattie; Stevenson, Taouil, Walker, McGowan, Sutton, Ngoo. Subs: Holt, Novikovas, McKay, Carrick, Ridgers.
    • 14:30 St Mirren boss Danny Lennon said: "My message to the players is to grasp it and make it a memorable occasion that'll live with you for the rest of your life."
    • 14:25 Speaking ahead of the game Locke said: "Sunday will show you just how big a club Hearts is when you see how big a support we'll have there. It means the world to me but let's not forget there's one man who's got us to this final - John McGlynn."
    • 14:20 Gary Locke takes charge of his first match as permanent Hearts manager after being appointed as John McGlynn's successor yesterday. Not sure how many managers have had a cup final as their debut!
    • 14:15 Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to Eurosport's LIVE coverage of the Scottish League Cup final between St Mirren and Hearts. I'm Graham Ruthven.
