Sunday September 2, 2012 Kick off: 17:00 Day 2 Stadio Friuli

Countdown: -590 Days

  • Live Commentary

    • 90+2 That's it from Stadio Friuli. 1-4.
    • 90' The hosts have the ball as the game draws to a close.
    • 89' The visitors work the ball all around the pitch looking to work that angle for another opportunity but the home defence stays resolute.
    • 87' Pirlo continues to dictate things in the middle of midfield here. Fantastic player.
    • 85' Juventus players look in warm down mode with very little pressure on the ball now.
    • 83' It is getting a little scrappy as the game draws to a close but the hosts will just want this one over so they can start their season come next week.
    • 80' That Udinese goal has brought the game to life and it is getting a little ragged again. Udinese getting more of the ball now.
    • 78' But wait. Consolation for the hosts as the Juve defence fail to clear and Lazzari capitalises to fire past Buffon from close range. 1-4.
    • 76' This game is a bit of a dead rubber now.
    • 73' Di Natale is withdrawn for Allan and he cuts a desolate figure as he trudges straight down the tunnel – possible injury.
    • 71' Giovinco is again on the shoulder of the last man and, having received the ball from Pirlo, he fires across Padelli and into the far corner from just inside the box. 0-4.
    • 69' Vucinic breaks the offside trap but Padelli is alert and denies the forward from close range.
    • 68' Udinese are showing a little going forward now but this time Armero’s ball to the back post has too much on it and it carries though to Buffon.
    • 66' The hosts break with Muriel, who looks for a return pass from Di Natale but the ball over the top has just too much on it.
    • 64' This is almost a training exercise now as the Italian champions pass the ball in front of their hosts before every now and then speeding up proceedings or clipping a ball over the top. Udinese, however, remain firm in the face of this almost constant attacking onslaught.
    • 61' Giovinco offers in behind again as Juve looked for another. His haste gives away a free-kick though.
    • 57' Looks like the hosts have resigned themselves to a three goal defeat as they offer very little going forward. Juve working in the tightest of spaces now as the hosts become very compact.
    • 55' This could be a rout here.
    • 53' Padelli can’t hold Marchisio’s left footed effort from twenty yards out or so and Giovinco pounces to make it three. 0-3.
    • 51' Vucinic’s neat back heel finds Giovinco, who meanders this way and that in the box to work some space for a shot. He is off balance when he takes it though and the effort sails over.
    • 48' Udinese are sitting very deep and with that two goal disadvantage they need to do more.
    • 46' We're back underway.
    • 45+2 That's it from the first half.
    • 45+1 Just as it looks like Udinese were to get to the break with just the goal disadvantage, Asamoah finds Vucinic inside the box. The forward opens his body and bends it into the far corner leaving the keeper with no chance. 0-2.
    • 45' Basta does well to clear for a corner just as Asamoah looked to strike at the back post.
    • 43' The hosts are doing well to frustrate Juve at the moment but the fact that they are so compact means that they struggle to break when they do win the ball back. This time though, Di Natale does well to win a throw in the corner and earn his defenders some respite.
    • 41' The resulting free-kick is cleared only as far as Domizzi but he drags his volley wide from outside the box.
    • 39' This time that intervention is outside the laws of the game as Bonucci drags back Di Natale following a smart turn.
    • 37' The hosts are having a little bit more of the ball but that numerical disadvantage is really limiting their attacking options, and, invariably, a pink shirt is there to intervene just as they look to put a threatening move together.
    • 35' Juve break with Lichtsteiner, who finds Vucinic inside the area. The forward takes a touch before stinging the palms of Padelli from an angle. That’s got to go down as a decent save.
    • 33' Armero’s late challenge earns him a yellow card and Juventus a free-kick in a dangerous area. Pirlo whips it in from the left but Bonucci can’t get a solid enough connection on it and the chance is gone.
    • 32' Udinese have all of their remaining ten men literally in two banks in front of their 18 yard box as the visitors look to thread balls through. Vucinic attempts a cute back heel but, the intended recipient, Vidal, had gone a split second too soon.
    • 30' Juve continue to use the wings well. Pirlo sweeps the ball from right to left and then back again and, in doing so, opens a gap in the middle of the Udinese defence, which he looks to exploit with a clipped effort over the top for Asamoah but Padelli is alert to it.
    • 28' The hosts work the ball well down the left and Lazzari draws a free-kick. The hosts will have to do better from set-piece situations if they are to get anything from this game. Too close to the keeper that one.
    • 26' The deep lying playmaker just can’t get it up and over the wall, and Padelli claims the deflected effort for his first touch since coming on.
    • 24' Vucinic exchanges passes with Pirlo before drawing a foul 30 odd yards out from goal. Pirlo over it.
    • 23' Great work from Asamoah again wins the visitors a corner but the cross isn’t up to scratch.
    • 21' Udinese sit deep and then break at speed through Armero and Di Natale, but the former’s pass is just behind Di Natale and the move breaks down.
    • 19' Juve look content to play the ball around their back four and stretch the game.
    • - Padelli came on for Fabbrini in the wake of that penalty.
    • 17' The decision seems harsh to send off Brkic, as it didn’t look as though Giovinco had any hope of getting to that ball after he had knocked it past the keeper.
    • 14' Vidal steps up and puts it into the top corner. Long way back for the hosts now. 0-1.
    • 11' Giovinco once again is hovering on the shoulder of the last man and splits the centre back two to get to Pirlo’s through ball. It bounces up and he headers it past Brkic, who can’t halt his momentum and clatters into the diminutive front man. The referee has no option but to point to the spot.
    • 11' Penalty and red card for Brkic.
    • 11' Following a frenetic start, the game has calmed a little and the hosts are having the slightly better of it.
    • 9' The ball breaks to Pinzi on the edge of the area but his volley is always rising – with a man closing on him he rather snatched at it.
    • 7' Basta gets in front of his man, but, under pressure, can only head a Armero corner over the bar.
    • 6' Lichtsteiner breaks the offside trap to latch onto a Pirlo through ball but lifts his effort over the bar with the just the keeper to beat.
    • 5' Basta is on the end of a typically robust Chiellini challenge but the referee sees nothing wrong with it.
    • 4' Asamoah wins a corner following some good work down the left, the visitors play it short and shift it inside again but Chiellini just snuck offside.
    • 2' Giovinco breaks the offside trap but just can’t get to the through ball as Brkic comes out to claim at his feet. Bright start here.
    • 1' Juve get us underway.
    • 16:59 With the kit clash, Juve are lining up in a very dashing pink. Minutes from kick-off.

The Old Lady welcome back goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Giorgio Chiellini to their squad after both recovered from injury. Line ups to follow.
    • 16:45 Odion Ighalo and Paulo Barreto are set to miss out through injury as the hosts attempt to recover from the disappointment of losing in the Champions League play-offs to Braga on penalties in midweek.
    • 16:40 Udinese, on the other hand, will be looking to regroup after losing their opening Serie A encounter with Fiorentina.
    • 16:35 In spite of the uncertainty regarding the future of manager Anontio Conte, Juventus have started the season in much the same vein as they finished the last and are bidding to extend their unbeaten run to 41 matches following a 2-0 win over Parma on the opening day.
