    • FC Barcelona
    • Rayo Vallecano
    • 90+3' The referee finally brings the game to a close and Barcelona have three crucial and deserved points.
    • 89' The home crowd are departing as they think the three points are won. They are probably right. Piti hits Pinto's side netting from distance.
    • 88' Galvez takes the free kick won by Tamudo and blasts an awful shot high and wide. Pathetic.
    • 87' Tamudo is still causing headaches for Barcelona as he has done on numerous occasions in the past. He is fouled by Villa on the edge of the Barça box and Rayo have another chance.
    • 86' A chance for Alves to shoot in the box.... and he scuffs his shot when he should bury it and finish Rayo off.
    • 85' There is still plenty of life in this game, Rayo have not given up yet.
    • 84' Another change for Rayo Vallecano. Chori Dominguez is off and Isaac comes on.
    • 83' Rayo clear from the corner and go on the attack with Pinto called into action to save a shot from full back Tito. Decent effort.
    • 82' Song is stright into the action and passes to Thiago who fires a shot at goal with the Barcelona players lining up to shoot. Corner for Barcelona as the shot deflects wide.
    • 81' That substitution took an age to come as play went on and on in midfield, eventually Fabregas departs and Song is on.
    • 79' Alex Song is about to come on for the home side.
    • 78' Villa goes down holding his ankle after failing to score with a half chance and everyone is worried for a moment. Rayo play the ball out and then when Villa rises to his feet he asks for the ball and plays it back to Ruben. All very sporting.
    • 77' Feels like there could be at least one more goal in this game, both sides are going for it.
    • 76' Barcelona have gone to sleep at the back and Tamudo is getting plenty of the ball. He nearly scores from close range with his marker Alves just getting a vital touch on a goalbound shot.
    • 75' Messi dives in the box after his poor first touch lets him down. He was supplied with the ball by an unselfish Villa and should have done better. No yellow card but that was a blatant dive.
    • 73' Messi brings out a good save from Ruben, testing the goalkeeper with a powerful shot from inside the area.
    • 72' Tamudo once scored a goal to prevent Barça winning the league on this ground. At the time he was playing for Espanyol and his goal allowed Real Madrid to win the league so he is not the most popular man at the Camp Nou.
    • 70' GOAL!!! What an impact from ex-Espanyol striker Tamudo who scores with his first touch!
    • 69' Raul Tamudo is booed as he comes on for Delibasic.
    • 67' Goalkeeper Ruben becomes the latest player to get a yellow card for Rayo, for complaining to the referee apparently.
    • 66' Like Barça, Rayo are also without three key players this evening, defender Casado, midfield player Javi Fuego and Brazilian striker Leo Baptistao, who are all suspended. So for them to come to this ground under strength was always going to be a big ask.
    • 65' Another wayward pass from Alexis Sanchez who blasts a cross wildly across the pitch to no-one in particular.
    • 64' Rayo have one of the worst defensive records on the road in La Liga this season, so these final 25 minutes or so could be a case of damage limitation for the men from Madrid.
    • 63' A change for Barcelona. Iniesta is applauded off and Thiago comes on.
    • 61' Adrian goes off for Lass to come on for Rayo.
    • 60' It seems odd that Alexis Sanchez continually gets chances in this Barcelona team. He has just completely wasted a clear goal scoring opportunity with at least three available teammates to pick out. That's not too bad when you're already 3-0 up but what if that chance had meant something?
    • 58' That was sheer class from Messi and when he gets into positions like that, one on one with an opponent and then the goalkeeper to beat you always feel he will score. He did so and now has 42 league goals this season.
    • 57' GOAL!!! What a goal from the Argentine genius Messi. He is fed by Villa again on the break and he goes around Arbilla and then dinks a left footed shot over Ruben to make it 3-0.
    • 56' 'Chori' Dominguez should also do better with a half chance. Pique fails to clear from a corner and the Rayo man half volleys wide of the near post on the right as the ball falls from the sky onto his right foot.
    • 55' Messi works an opening and the ball drops to Alexis Sanchez who should score. His shot is fired wide of the left post.
    • 54' Pinto has to be alert as Rayo have a rare shot on goal, Piti driving a low effort at the Barça 'keeper.
    • 53' Pique is on one of his aggressive runs forward and nearly reaches an Alba cross from the left but Rayo intercept and clear the danger so the Spanish defender has to run back.
    • 52' Alexis Sanchez handles and gives away a free kick when he really should bring the ball down with a decent first touch.
    • 50' Alves and Messi combine on the right, attacking at pace but the former just fails to read the latter's clever backheel and Rayo can clear.
    • 49' Iniesta feeds Alves on the right and the Brazilian smacks a shot off the near post with the ball rebounding across the face of the goal and no-one is able to react fast enough to tuck home a third for Barcelona.
    • 48' Jose Carlos, Piti and Galvez try to rally the Rayo troops with a spell of neat play on the right, though they are struggling to get near the hosts' goal.
    • 47' Barça have an impressive league record home and away this season, but they are of course particularly formidable at the Camp Nou with 12 wins and just the one draw so far this campaign. They have netted 46 league goals and conceded just 10 in their home matches so far including those two first half strikes.
    • 46' Barça get the second half underway before losing possession on the left and Rayo have a throw in.
    • 45' Villa gets a little song from the Camp Nou crowd, who chant his name in support after he missed that chance just before the end of the half.
    • 44' Fabregas plays in Villa who should make it 3-0 but snatches at the chance with his left foot and pulls it wide.
    • 43' Rayo are looking a bit ragged in midfield and defence under the relentless Barça pressure now. Fabregas tries a solo run and eventually gets blocked and then Messi slips yet again in the box when Alves pushes forward on the right.
    • 42' Messi has now scored an incredible 41 league goals already this term. He also scored twice against Rayo Vallecano when Barça visited them earlier in the season.
    • 41' Messi just got the better of his marker and slipped the ball past Ruben with a sharp left foot shot.
    • 40' GOAL!!! Messi makes it 2-0 with Villa returning the favour and playing him in for a simple finish. 18 league matches in a row with a goal. What a player.
    • 39' Dominguez seems to be injured for a moment and Barça don't know whether to play the ball out. The Rayo man is ok and Alba can play on.
    • 38' In the absence of those 'three captains' Puyol, Xavi and Valdes, it is Iniesta wearing the skipper's armband tonight.
    • 37' The absence of three star players for Barcelona - Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez and Victor Valdes - could mean that there are weaknesses for Rayo to exploit, but the Catalan giants have a superb squad and the likes of Fabregas, Pinto and Mascherano are impressing so far.
    • 35' Piti tries an effort on goal from distance and Pinto picks it up easily with no great power on the shot.
    • 34' A Barcelona attack comes to an end with another stumble from Messi. He looks like he is slipping around out there.
    • 33' Rayo are not playing badly and Piti almost gets Delibasic in, with Pinto reading the pass well and getting out quickly to collect the ball.
    • 32' With an international break coming now and with Barça hopeful that Tito Vilanova can return to take charge of the team again soon, this match could be temporary boss Jordi Roura’s last as stand-in first team manager.
    • 30' It is all Barça now with Sanchez, Alves, Messi and Iniesta starting to pull the strings.
    • 29' Trashorras gets a yellow card for handball but says he chested the ball. Referee says no and it is a booking.
    • 28' Messi is looking to hit the net for an 18th straight La Liga game and therefore extend his own current record run this evening.
    • 26' As soon as Messi got forward there it seemed inevitable that a goal would come with Fabregas and Villa supporting him. Messi did it all with his left foot, playing a sweet little pass through to Villa who was grateful to receive the chance.
    • 25' GOAL!!! Barcelona take a deserved lead with a goal made by that man Leo Messi. The Argentine dances through the Rayo midfield and plays in Villa who makes no mistake to finish well with his right foot.
    • 24' So sadly Adriano is off and Alves comes on...
    • 23' Adriano hurt himself chasing that Iniesta pass and will have to come off. That's frustrating for him as he doesn't get a huge amount of chances to start games for Barcelona.
    • 22' Messi creeps into the box and Figueras comes across to make a vital interception.
    • 21' Adriano chases after a lofted pass from the brilliant Iniesta over the Rayo defence but just can't connect with a meaningful touch. Goal kick Rayo.
    • 20' Finally Rayo Vallecano get a free kick as Mascherano crashes into Jose Carlos.
    • 19' Ruben clears with a punch as Messi fires in a free kick from the right.
    • 18' Adriano plays Sanchez in down the right and Piti gets booked for lunging in. Free kick Barça.
    • 17' A spell of possession for Rayo Vallecano who play the ball between them nicely. Then Alexis Sanchez gets a foot in and is brought down for another free kick for Barcelona in the centre of the park.
    • 16' The last three games between these two clubs have produced in 16 goals, all of them coming from Barcelona!
    • 15' Mascherano, Pique and stand-in goalkeeper Pinto play the ball around in a relaxed manner at the back for Barcelona. Eventually Iniesta gets the ball in midfield and wins a free kick from Galvez after a poor first touch.
    • 14' Rayo Vallecano are having a decent season and have hopes of finishing in a European classification spot, with fourth place not beyond their reach with a good run of results.
    • 13' Alba and Iniesta combine on the left but the latter is crowded out and Rayo clear their lines. As they break Delibasic tries his luck from distance and the ball goes just over.
    • 12' Rayo Vallecano are pushed forward in attack and Barcelona are defending in numbers. Good to see a team having a go at the league leaders in the early stage of a game.
    • 10' Barcelona are ten points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table having played one game less and are looking to continue their good form after the remarkable Champions League destruction of AC Milan midweek.
    • 9' Vallecano appeal for a penalty as Chori Dominguez falls easily under a Mascherano challenge. Those kind of decisions rarely go in favour of the visitors at the Nou Camp and that did not look like a penalty.
    • 8' The free kick smashes off the Vallecano crossbar as Messi shows his threat in the opening minutes.
    • 7' Messi goes on a typical weaving run and is brought down in a central position 25 yards out. He wants to take the free kick... and will.
    • 6' Messi passes to Adriano who fires over from distance. Wasteful. Then a rare sight from the subsequent Barça attack, Messi hesitates with a chance to shoot as Fabregas feeds him and Vallecano get back in numbers to clear the danger.
    • 5' Iniesta wins a free kick on the right wing and Fabregas stands over the ball with Messi lurking nearby.
    • 4' Barcelona are looking to earn their tenth straight win at Camp Nou this evening.
    • 3' Pique gives away a corner in a right back position but Barcelona easily clear the danger as the cross comes in from the Vallecano left wing.
    • 2' An early effort by Trashorras for Vallecano goes just wide. Goal kick for Pinto.
    • 1' Barcelona are in their traditional home colours of dark blue and red, whilst Rayo Vallecano wear their distinctive traditional white shirts with the red striped band across their chests. The visitors take the kick-off and attack down the right, winning an early throw in.
