    • 90+2' The final whistle is blown. Germany run out 3-0 winners and qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Ireland's hopes of qualifying are ended. Thanks for joining us tonight.
    • 90+1' GOAL!! Germany add a third with the last kick of the game. The hosts counter-attack following an Ireland corner. Jansen carries the ball out of his penalty area and into the Ireland half to play in Schweinsteiger. The Bayern man produces a defence-splitting pass which allows for Ozil to meet the ball, taking it past Forde, to finish from close range.
    • 90' We'll have two minutes of added time.
    • 89' CHANCE FOR IRELAND AT THE DEATH!! McCarthy is sent down the right and gets the better of Boateng to cross for Stokes. His first touch is good but Neuer is off his line in a flash to close the angle and make the save.
    • 88' Ireland have a chance to take the ball forward. Whelan, McCarthy and Gibson combine down the left but McCarthy’s attempted ball over the top is hit far too hard and rolls out for a goal kick.
    • 87' The hosts make their third and final change of the evening. Sidney Sam replaces Muller.
    • 86' INCHES WIDE!! Lahm travels down the right and plays a clever reverse ball into the path of Ozil who takes the ball in his stride, into the penalty area and shoots on goal. Forde is beaten but Ozil has to watch his shot roll narrowly wide.
    • 85' Mario Goetze is Joachim Loew's second substitution of the day, replacing Schurrle.
    • 84' A lovely German move that starts from Neuer and goes through every player before eventually reaching Schurrle wide on the left comes to an end when the Chelsea man blasts his shot high and wide from 18 yards.
    • 83' What an effort from Boateng. The defender picks up the ball midway into the Ireland half and travels forward unchallenged before unleashing a blockbuster shot that crashed off the post.
    • 81' Max Kruse does make an appearance and replaces Khedira.
    • 80' CHANCE!! Khedira nearly grabs his second of the game. Eight yards, from goal, the midfielder receives Lahm’s cutback to shoot at goal. Forde sees it early and beats it around the post.
    • 79' Ireland win a corner. It’s delivered by Whelan and is sent out to Gibson on the edge of the Germany box. The Everton man attempts a first-time volley but the contact is poor, looping the ball up into the air.
    • 78' Max Kruse looks to be warming up on the German bench. It won't be too long until we see the Borussia Mönchengladbach man.
    • 77' Schurrle’s corner is met by the towering Mertesacker who heads over from 12 yards.
    • 75' Lahm gets beyond Kelly and pulls the ball back into the path of Kroos who sends an effort on goal. Forde flies to his right to palm the ball away. The keeper really has had a great game.
    • 74' Germany are claiming handball in the Ireland penalty area after Ozil's volleyed effort appeared to striker the arm of Wilson. He couldn't do a great deal to get out of the way of it, though, which has probably saved him.
    • 73' Great double stop from Neuer. Coleman’s initial effort from distance is saved well down low before the German keeper is up well to deny McCarthy’s follow-up.
    • 71' So close to a third. Schurrle’s devilish ball from the left is met by the diving Muller at the far post. Muller’s effort from close-range is on target but, once again, Forde is able to make the stop – saving with his feet.
    • 70' The home fans appeal for a penalty as Lahm bursts into the penalty area before going down under Gibson’s challenge. The Everton man gets all of the ball and play is waved on, despite the protests.
    • 69' Lahm’s cross-field ball finds Ozil wide on the left touchline. The Arsenal man plays in Jansen but the full-back’s cross is overhit and drifts out for a goalkick.
    • 68' Coleman slips on the ball deep in his own half and nearly puts his side in trouble with Schurrle breaking into the penalty area. Clark reads the play well and is able to make a smart tackle.
    • 67' Germany earn a corner which is whipped in by Schweinsteiger. It’s a poor cross and is smashed up the field by Delaney at the near post.
    • 65' Fine effort from Muller. Kroos crosses from the right and finds the head of his Bayern teammate. Muller's header beats the diving Forde and the post, too. The flag was up, though, so wouldn't have counted.
    • 64' Germany have numbers over on the left-hand side which allows for Jansen to cross from the byline. Clark’s sliding challenge prevents Muller from turning the ball home.
    • 63' Germany are still controlling this second half but Ireland have gone forward with a bit more intent so far. It wasn’t hard to improve on their first half performance, though…
    • 62' A frustrated Stokes goes into the book for Ireland. He's late on Jansen and accepts his punishment.
    • 61' Ireland snatch the ball off the hosts and go in search of a goal. McCarthy is given the ball down the left and checks his run to cross. Doyle and Stokes both leap at the far post but neither man can make contact.
    • 60' What a save from Forde. Schweinsteiger pulls away from his defender 25 yards from goal and sends a rasping effort on goal. It looks to be finding the top corner, only for the Ireland keeper to tip the ball round the post. Incredible stop.
    • 58' GOAL!! Schurrle adds Germany’s second of the night and what a goal that is. Ozil’s corner from the right is played short to Muller who feeds the ball to Kroos on the edge of the penalty area. The Bayern man fakes to shoot before lofting a clever ball over the top of the Ireland defence and into the path of Schurrle. He takes one touch to set himself before rolling the ball past the despairing Forde.
    • 56' Khedira is the first man to go into the book this evening for a rather cynical foul on Stokes.
    • 55' Fine effort from Schurrle. The Chelsea winger cuts in from the left and skips past a number of challenges before firing a right-footed effort wide of the far post.
    • 53' He doesn’t make too many mistakes, the Bayern man, but that would have been an embarrassing one. Decent chance for the visitors, nonetheless.
    • 51' Neuer puts his side in danger and they almost pay for it. Coleman’s long ball from right-back drifts over the top of the German defence and into the path of Stokes. Neuer comes racing off his line and misses the ball, leaving the Ireland forward an open goal to shoot at – though the angle is not in his favour. The shot balloons over the bar and saves the keeper’s blushes.
    • 50' The hosts regain possession and move forward in numbers, patiently building an attack. Ireland find their defensive shape again and will look to clear the danger.
    • 49' Germany haven’t ventured into the Ireland half as of yet. The visitors have come out all guns blazing and look fired up. It won’t be long until the hosts settle down and get hold of the ball, though, so will want to make this possession count.
    • 48' Much better start from Ireland. Whelan’s corner from the right is headed away but only as far as McCarthy on the edge of the penalty area. The midfielder first-time shot is hit with venom but flies comfortably over Neuer’s bar.
    • 47' SO CLOSE!! The visitors attack from the kick-off, Stokes finding some space on the edge of the penalty area before firing narrowly wide of Neuer’s right-hand post.
    • 46' The second half is underway. Ireland kick off.
    • 45+2' The half-time whistle is blown. That was some half of football. Germany were relentless in their attempts to find the net. Ireland fought well and were unlucky to see Khedira's deflected effort find the back of the net but, on the face of it, there's only one side in this...
    • 45+1' CROSSBAR!! Gibson’s set-piece is played short to Whelan who lofts the ball into the penalty area from the left. Clark rises highest at the far post, beating Mertesacker to the ball and sending a header towards goal. Neuer is back-peddling and can do nothing but watch the ball crash off the bar and away to safety. So close for the visitors.
    • 45' We'll have just one added minute at the end of this first half. Ireland have a free kick deep in the Germany half. Can they grab an unlikely goal in the final seconds of this opening period?
    • 44' Lovely build-up play from the hosts. They work the ball well down the left before shifting it across to the right where Muller is waiting. The Bayern man attempts a first-time left-footed curling effort on goal but scuffs his shot, allowing for Forde to make the save down to his right.
    • 43' Very smart keeping from Forde, once again. Kroos’ speculative long-range effort takes a deflection off Clark and looks to be rolling out for a goal kick but the keeper doesn’t give up on it, launching himself at the ball to slap it back into play and preventing the corner.
    • 42' Although they’ve not given the travelling fans a lot to get excited about, Ireland have certainly been disciplined in this half and would love to get into the break just one goal down.
    • 41' Another shot on target for the hosts. Another save from Forde. This time some space opens up for Schurrle on the left of the Ireland box as the Chelsea man attempts a whipped effort that flies into the grateful arms of the Irish custodian.
    • 40' Doyle gets up well to flick on the ball in front of Mertesacker. Stokes looks to be getting on the end of the knock-down but Boateng is across in a flash to clear.
    • 39' That really was a smart stop from Forde. The keeper was tremendously unlucky to see Khedira’s deflected effort to sail beyond him initially but has since played very well – rushing off his line to claim a number of crosses and has also made a couple of decent stops.
    • 38' Another great stop from Forde. Muller cuts inside from the left, brushing off the challenge of Wilson before sending a wicked left-footed effort on goal. The Ireland keeper makes good ground to smartly tip the effort over the bar.
    • 36' Ireland break down the left, Kelly bursting forward and looking to feed Stokes with Lahm out of position. The promising break is brought to a premature end, however, with the official’s flag going up on the far side.
    • 35' Great save from Forde. Lahm gets in behind Kelly and stands the ball up at the far post. Schurrle leaps tremendously well to send a header on goal from eight yards, but Forde is placed well to beat away the danger.
    • 34' Khedira and Schurrle link on the edge of the Ireland penalty area, exchanging a number of short, sharp passes before Schurrle's final ball is overhit.
    • 33' Ireland, believe it or not, are operating with a bank of six at the back when Germany go forward. Very regimented but it’s no wonder why they can’t get out.
    • 32' Lahm finds some space in-behind Kelly and drives forward. The full-back’s drilled effort is met by Delaney at the near post and is sent clear.
    • 31' Ireland are able to get out of their own half but soon lose the ball. They press high, though, forcing the hosts further and further back. Their players will be shattered after this match. That is for sure.
    • 30' This really has been one of the most one-sided opening 30 minutes you are likely to see. There’s no shame in it for Ireland, but Germany are looking ever so dangerous.
    • 29' Ozil’s corner from the right is a poor one and is headed away at the near post. Schweinsteiger picks it up, though, and has another shot on goal. It’s another poor one and is sent into the stands.
    • 28' A better effort from Kroos this time. He drives forward from deep before unleashing a fierce effort towards Forde's goal. It's hit well and looks to be finding the target until Clark heads behind for a corner.
    • 27' Kroos gathers the ball 30 yards from goal and fakes to shoot before cutting inside of Gibson. The Bayern midfielder has a number of options around him but opts to shoot and sends his effort high and wide.
    • 26' Lahm lofts the ball up to the far post from wide-right. Schurrle looks to get on the end of it and appears to be given a nudge just as he takes off. He’s pleading with the referee for a penalty but the official is not interested.
    • 25' This pressure is unrelenting. The visitors are pinned deep in their own half and, as of yet, have no idea how to get out. Besides that deflected goal, though, they’ve looked solid at the back.
    • 24' Kroos’ corner is this time played to Schweinsteiger on the egde of the penalty area. The midfield maestro attempts a volley on goal but it flies back out to Kroos. Not one of his finest efforts.
    • 23' Kroos’ corner is played short and comes all the way out to Boateng on the edge of the penalty area. The defender dances past one challenge to shoot on goal, but his effort is deflected over the bar for another corner.
    • 22' Lahm is again given the ball down on the right touchline and looks to travel forward but is brought down by the back-tracking Doyle.
    • 21' Muller is almost put through by Schurrle’s clever scooped ball but the Munich man can’t quite get on the end of it as the ball rolls out for a goal kick.
    • 20' Lahm skips down the right again, brushing off Kelly’s challenge to cross. Ozil darts to the front post but Delaney clears the danger.
    • 19' Lahm cuts inside from the right and attempts to find Ozil with a clever reverse ball. Delaney reads it well and shepherds the ball out of play for a goal kick under pressure. Good defending.
    • 18' Ireland see a bit of the ball for the first time this evening. Clark and Coleman play it around the back before Delaney gets involved. Looking for the run of Doyle down the left, the defender plays it long but the ball is under-hit and is cut out.
    • 17' It was always going to be a tough clash for Ireland and they’ll more than likely be put under pressure for the majority of this match. They may get a chance or two but you can’t help feeling that Germany are going to get a few goals tonight.
    • 15' Ozil is looking for a foul on the edge of the Ireland penalty area. The Arsenal man receives the ball to his feet and looks to burst past Delaney but is simply muscled off the ball.
    • 14' The visitors are really under some pressure here. All the danger is coming down Germany’s left side, with Jansen featuring heavily. Again he gets in another cross but Clark does extremely way to head clear from his own six yard box.
    • 12' GOAL!! Germany find the net after just 12 minutes, but it’s a very fortuitous strike. Stokes gives the ball away in his own half and it falls to Lahm who feeds Khedira on the edge of the penalty area. Khedira takes one touch to set himself before shooting on goal. The effort is scuffed but ricochets off Clark and flies beyond the despairing Forde.
    • 11' Kroos’ corner is a dangerous one, swung in with real pace on it, but Forde is off his line bravely to claim in front of Boateng.
    • 10' Good play from Jansen again from down the left. The full-back skips past the challenge of Coleman before his cross is blocked for a corner.
    • 9' Germany attack in numbers and move forward quickly. Kroos has options either side of him but attempts to find Ozil with an eye-of-the-needle ball and concedes possession.
    • 8' Gibson’s corner from the left and is hit deep. Delaney is up highest to head on goal but the defender is penalised for a foul on Mertesacker.
    • 7' Stokes and Doyle combine deep into the Germany half with the latter making his way into the penalty area. He cuts inside of Lahm and should shoot but dwells on the ball and is dispossessed.
    • 6' Lahm finds some space down the right and cuts inside to tee-up Ozil on the edge of the penalty area. The Arsenal man attempts to find the top corner with a curling left-footed effort but sends it wide of the goal.
    • 5' Ireland have not been able to get a foot on the ball in the opening five minutes, but they’re looking regimented at the back, with either Stokes or Doyle dropping back to make a five-man midfield.
    • 4' It’s been a very high-tempo start from the hosts. The Irish players seem to be chasing their shadows at present. Khedira’s first touch lets him down and the Madrid midfielder concedes a foul in his attempt to win the ball back.
    • 3' Jansen gets forward down the left, overlapping Schurrle before crossing. The full-back’s ball is a poor one, however, and drifts wide of the goal.
    • 2' As expected, the hosts keep hold of the ball from the off, passing it around amongst themselves in their own half.
    • 1' The game is under way. The hosts kick off.
    • 19:40 Both sets of players are currently out on the pitch and are singing their respective national anthems. We're just moments away from kick-off.
    • 19:35 How do you see this game going tonight? Can it possibly be anything other than a Germany win or can Ireland shock the hosts and keep their chances of qualifying alive? Let me know on the comments section at the bottom of the page or on Twitter @JoshuaHayward99.
    • 19:30 With Richard Dunne and John O'Shea both suspended, Noel King has been forced into fielding Ciaran Clark and Damian Delaney at centre-half. Robbie Keane isn't fit enought to make the starting XI but is good enough for a place on the bench.
    • 19:25 Germany coach Joachim Loew has opted for a very attacking line-up, with Mezut Ozil the furthest man forward for the hosts. The Arsenal man will make his 50th appearance for Die Mannschaft tonight.
    • 19:20 The teams are in - GERMANY: Neuer, Lahm, Mertesacker, Boateng, Jansen, Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Ozil, Schurrle, Muller...SUBS: Adler, Zieler, Howedes, Hummels, Westermann, Draxler, Sam, Kruse, Gotze /// IRELAND: Forde, Coleman, Delaney, Kelly, Clark, Whelan, Gibson, McCarthy, Wilson, Doyle, Stokes...SUBS: Elliott, Henderson, St Ledger, McGeady, Green, Hoolahan, O'Brien, Long, Keane, McClean, Pilkington, Reid.
    • 19:15 Germany have lost midfield twins Sven and Lars Bender to injury and star forward Marco Reus is also missing, along with Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose. Joachim Loew could use Max Kruse in attack, or rely on Bayern Munich's Thomas Mueller.
    • 19:10 Robbie Keane is a doubt after sitting out training with an ankle knock but he has flown to Germany and could take part. Anthony Stokes is ready to step in just in case the LA Galaxy man is ruled out. Caretaker manager Noel King is expected to use James McCarthy, Darron Gibson and Glenn Whelan in a three-man midfield, but will be deprived of Robbie Brady due to a hernia operation, with Damien Delaney in the squad in his place.
    • 19:05 The defeat was Ireland’s heaviest in over 40 years and is sure to be something that will rest uncomfortably in the back of tonight’s players' minds. Even more worrying for the visitors is the fact that Germany have not failed to score less than three goals in any of their home games so far this qualifying campaign.
    • 19:00 These two sides met almost one year ago to the day, with the result something that will live long in the memory of the Ireland players. Germany romped to a humiliating 6-1 win in Dublin as Marco Reus and Toni Kroos both grabbed two goals – Andy Keogh scoring a 90th minute consolation for the hosts.
    • 18:55 In stark contrast to Ireland’s fortunes, Germany just require one point to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and will be confident of doing so following their record of seven wins and one draw in eight matches. In fact, Joachim Loew’s side will advance whatever their result if Sweden fail to beat Austria.
    • 18:50 In Ireland’s first post-Giovanni Trapattoni match, who was sacked in September after a run of poor results, anything but a win will see the hosts’ slim chances of qualifying – via the play-offs – come to an end.
    • 18:45 Good evening and welcome to our LIVE coverage of tonight’s World Cup Group C qualifying match between Germany and Ireland from the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
