AFTER scouring the land for a presenter to replace Christine Bleakley on The One Show, the BBC has revealed the winner – and she bears an uncanny resemblance to her predecessor.
Alex Jones, a familiar face to viewers in Wales, will make her debut on the early evening show’s sofa on August 16.
Like Christine she has the same bright smile, a similar haircut and sultry, dark good looks.
But only time will tell if she can pull in the viewers like Christine, who saw ratings for The One Show hit 7.4million viewers earlier this year.
At 32, Alex is one year older than Christine and, like her, comes to the role a virtual unknown, despite clocking up 10 years in regional TV. A BBC spokesman said: “Alex is a completely different character as viewers will soon discover.”
She joins forces with comic Jason Manford. Beeb bosses hope they’ll recreate the chemistry between Christine and former One Show co-host Adrian Chiles. Christine, dating footballer Frank Lampard, has signed for £4million with ITV to reunite with Chiles on GMTV in September under its new name Daybreak.
