    • GREAT THREAD.BUMP TO THE TOP

    • Another tribute....
Im 25 my ma is 50'odd and my gran is 81, and Ive never in my life seen such a response to the death of a man or celebrity. My mum and her sister used to watch Georgie at OT and my Dad did and they have instilled in me what a legend he was..... the only comparison is Mohamed Ali No saint but tru legend!!!

    • George, as both an Irishman and a Manchester United fan I miss you doubly. You were a genius, you are a legend and on behalf of the Byers family who've been United for four generations I would like to say, we will always remember you. Take it easy Georgie.

    • R.I.P George,

A star that burns twice as bright burns for half as long

      Sympathy to Calum and family

    • A star that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long.
R.I.P George. Condolences to Calum and family

    • The Belfast boy

I couldn’t help but cry today
      Just heard the news
      Bestie had passed away
      Started thinking bout
      The unbelievable goals he
      Scored through the years,
      And down my cheeks rolled
      Even more tears

      Idolised and loved by all
Genius, just give him a ball
Twisting and turning the ball glued to his feet
Defenders left behind trying to compete
      He graced our game
      Such a pleasure to see
      We were all so privileged
To have had the marvellous Bestie

      The greatest footballer
      In the world for me
      Skill and tricks
The like you never did see
Pele, Maradonna , you can have them all
Just give me Bestie, running with the ball

Lived life in the fast lane
      Did our Georgie
But none of that means nothing to me
It’s the football I will remember
      And the legend of Bestie

My hero hung up his boots today
He said goodbye, I’m on my way
      Remember the football
Are the words he did say
But not even Georgie could ever see
      We will never forget him
      All will agree
      George Best the footballer
      Will forever be
      And live in our hearts
      Eternally

      DH. Brisbane,Australia

    • yes george was a brilliant footballer but he wasted his life after with drink. also he stopped someone else having a new life with the transplant he had for that he sucked

    • Im a west ham fan for my sins. but today i got out of bed and instead of feeling down about the score from last nights game i felt pround to support west ham united. i sit in the bobby moore stand and have done for a number of years. when it came to applause for a minute in respect of george best the whole of upton park stood up and clapped and clapped. We all have our team who we love but any true football fan who loves then game can only respect the pure genius of mr george best and the way he played the beautiful game. The whole of the bobby moore stand was singing " theres only one george best" with emotion and giveing him the applause he well deserved. so i and many other west ham fans felt very pround to honour one of footballs greats.god bless you george.....
