    • No offence taken, your last statements sum it up nicely.

I'm an LFC fan (uh-oh), but also a fan of football. You need an open mind and move one, if people want to hang about in the past then that's their choice. We're better off without them. Now I'm getting all deep and meaningful which is real bad, for me anyway.

Confession - some of that suff WAS funny ;-)

Used to live in Manc for 2 years, Macintosh Village, cool place, cool city.

    • No confusion.
Also, it was not my intention to genuinely cause offence.
Just part of the "banter" between rival fans as I see it.

I leave the genuinely offensive stuff to those knuckle draggers that get their cyberspace accounts reset or that in real life smash toilets and scrawl graphitti on our grounds walls about a tragedy that prematurely ended a number of lives a few decades ago.

Message boards are just words, those that take them too seriously have issues way beyond my help.

      • I love the irony in this post - you all jump on the bandwagon of slating scousers - scum etc.

Then every Saturday 65,000 or so of you lot go and cheer one on as the best player in your team. How many of the contributors here would actually tell Wayne that to his face. Hmmmmmm......?

I guess that one passed you bye eh?

And you call scousers - now THAT is really funny.

    • There lies your problem. Its not all the little things that are going on surrounding clubs, players and managers - it all stems from the disorganisation and hypocrisy of the top guys, namely the FA. It goes a lot higher than that too. They have got to be more specific with the rules. Who decides these punishments and how do they come to these conclusions?? There should be specific guidelines to follow to make it simple not debateable.

    • the hipocracy of the FA has been evident in last couple of weeks.

ashley cole met people in an hotel and discussed moveing.

      he got a fine.

sven meets people in a hotel and discusses moving.

      nothing said.

the following week he mentions that ther is corruption in the game, and he's on his way.

why, because its an attack on the fa who are supposed to be preventing it.

i remember years ago, doug ellis lead headed an fa commitee that laid down rules for clubs to follow to prevent the poaching of managers. within 2 weeks the same doug ellis had poached brian little from leicester.

    • hi,its true,i mean its only football,i'm a manchester united fan through and through, born in manchester, but i was rooting for liverpool against chelsea, and in the final, theres always been banter between our fans, yes we're rivals whatever, but your song about george best really pissed me off,i mean not you personally, but there should be respect.

    • Haha very true. In my last job I was working in very close proximity with a very passionate (and knowledgeable) Liverpool fan. Needless to say we had some very heated dicussions but I had some of the funniest exchanges. I couldnt beat that guy he was worse than me for backing down!!!

It is amazing how people can be so big time from behind a keyboard. My personal recent favourite has been the 'I earn more than you' comment! Do people not realise how ridiculous that sort of thing is?!! Maybe I should start telling people im a millionaire living in my palace in Dubai with my gold toilet? Anyone can lie, the personal stuff is irrelevant football is the only reason we are here, sometimes we need reminding of that.

You however are a breath of fresh air!

    • The fact I have now joined you as a target for those lacking in intelligence does not bother in me in the slightest. I was only defending my team and I dont plan on changing. They can keep it coming all day if thats all they have to do.

But like you say we all only want United to succeed. The banter is fun and part of football, until people cross the line.

Im still smarting from the fact that Neviles banter landed him in trouble when the likes of Gerrad and Carragher get away with the same thing at Everton. It does seem the FA use as an example. Why should we take it? I wouldnt mind the FA punishing us all these times if they just gave it out to those who do the same! THATS ALL WE ARE ASKING!!!!! Mutu 5 months for Coke....Rio 8 for missing his test...I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!!!!!!!!!

    • hey mate.

i don't think being defencive about your team is a weakness, its an asset and to be admired.

it's unfortunate that some people can't have civil discussions or even concede that there are different views to ther own. its also unfortunate that there are a lot of people that can't be themselves when at an internet keyboard. instead they lapse into an alter ego thats full of bravado, and in truth if you were face to face with them they would shrink back into their shell.
thats how you pick the genuine football supports from the fakes. the ones that are obviously being themselves are the real fans.

i will be working with a load of man u fans soon when my workplace gets tranfered to macclesfield at the end of next month. i have already worked with a few of them and all over britain i my conclusion is that wherever you are in britain, you will find the good, the bad and the ugly.

    • Couldnt agree with you more.

Im only on here to talk football and in particular about United. I have my moments (I am extremely defensive over my team which can be a big weakness but I only want to have civil discussions.

There are however plenty of like minded and rival fans who can refrain from losing the plot so its not so bad. However if people are going to give us a hard time, like you say treat others as they treat you.

My biggest mistake I made when I came on here was thinking my opinion was the right one and funnily enough it was blkdrey I first clashed with (about Fletcher god dammit) and who pointed it out to me! Apparently now we are cousins so Ive not only had some good discussions on here but gained a family member!
