  • Best player on the pitch by a mile. Should have had a penalty too. Switched from both flanks, I think we may have found ourselves another option on the wing.

Lee was fantastic, but he always impresses me. Dong held the line upfront alone admirably. More to come.

I'm nominating Mikel and Shaun Wright Phillips for the 'worst player' and also 'most greedy bastard' award. Makes me sick watching those two. To think Essien would be ours if it wasn't for all those roubles. I hope Roman felt stupid watching our 3rd team match their team of world class players.

Poor old Maureen, his fans were outsung all game and took the piss out of him the entire time. I thought he was gonna cry. :)

    • Brown was certainly the United player who made the biggest impact - breaking Scott Sinclair's foot on his debut with a wild and unnecessary tackle that got him a yellow card.

Maybe there should be a rule that deliberate fouls resulting in injury should force the fouler to be suspended until the injured person is fit to return.

    • Eagles has always had the skill, but now he seems to have got stronger , both physically and mentally. Fergie was very complimentary after the match, looks like he will get his chance.
All the above is also true of Lee. He is a very intelligent player. Needs to develop physically if he's going to make it.
Jury out on Dong. Difficult match against Terry. I think he 'froze' a bit. Obviously a strong lad and needs to start using that strength. Not ready yet for a prolonged run.

      • Thankyou jim for finally a rational post, unlike the utter sh*te I have had to contend with throughout this thread. Its barely worth replying too half the time.

Dong wasn't only up against Terry, he was alone with Essien partnering Terry!!! thats two WORLD class players and he had absolutely NO service. I don't think Dong played well but he held the ball up quite well a few times and showed glimpses of someone who is not afraid of anyone. I've seen him score countless goals in Belgium, which is quite a physical league, so I think he will be fine in the premiership once he gets a run. Once again I will be around to see a bunch of these fickle glory hunters proved wrong.

Eagles was brilliant. Some people said he played well against Everton (after 4 mins) and yet are more reserved after he was the best player on the pitch against an expensive chelski team. Makes me laugh reading half this crap on here.

    • i think, most of the team, had one thing in common . for sale. or free 2 a good home.

    • Although Eagles played well I thought Brown was utd`s best player, he got his head to everything. Good premiership debut by Kieran Lee but Dong didn`t really have many opportunities to get in to the game.

    • oh and tomaz in goal,a disaster waiting to happen

    • i'm going to disagree, but in gentlemaanly terms of course.Dong was completely overawed in the first half, quite a bit better in the second though.Richardson had quite a good game actually ,and Eagles is a good prospect but probably needs to be more accurate with the ball

    • Yeah Andrei was the quickest i've ever seen down our wing and with one hell of a shot on the guy, i was gutted to see him go. Richardson is good, but let's us down too many times i feel with stray shots and passes going missing, yeah he's scored some important goals for us, but so did ruud and becks. I had big hopes for him when he first came on the scene, but he's not delivered. Time for someone else to get a shot.

    • Yeah, I don't think there are many United fans who'd be heartbroken if he was to go. God, I remember feeling like that when Kanchelskis put in his transfer request; gutted. Can't see anyone feeling the same about Richardson though.

    • some good points there tim, i also feel Kieran Richardson's had his shot, he's tried hard, not gonna knock him but i feel it's time he was moved on, not quite making the grade. I agree looking at Chris eagles, he deserves his shot at the big time now. He has a lot of passion about his game, i think with a few chances in the big games with the big boys he will show his worth.
