    Capello's comment on Lampard

This isn't specifically a Man U comment. But it's not specifically a Chelsea comment either. It's about whether an England manager should comment on club football. I raise it here because as these boards go this one probably has more football fans tuning in (of all colours).

Capello is reported to have said that he would like Lampard to stay at Chelsea rather than go to Inter. (So would I, but that's beside the point.) Is it inappropriate for the England manager to making comments like this or does it not matter?

    • Freedom of speach, right? While I am not at all impressed with Calderon for example and the crap that spouts out of his mouth from time to time, its still his right to state his opinions.
I think Capello is stating his opinion as an individual (just like we all do on this site) the only difference is most people don't care to put our words in a paper.

    • I think national coaches should not comment on whether players stay or leave their respective clubs.I think Scolari was well out of order with regards to Ronaldo,if he indeed did make those remarks.

      • I'm sorry Ian.

        But your comments are unfounded.

An Englishman abroad springs to mind.

I think don capelo is one of the all time greats as managers go. To say he has no say in he National side in players of the English (not French) team, is a joke.

Too long have our (English) not French Managers wimped out over what clubs say and do.

Fair play I say Don. If the guy in charge of our (not French) side, says that Lamps stays in favour of the National side, the I take his word for it.

What are you saying Ian? An expat in France of all places. Knows better than a man who has conquered all in management?

        I doubt it.

      • Hear Hear Ian - I think national coaches should not comment on whether players stay or leave their respective clubs.I think Scolari was well out of order with regards to Ronaldo,if he indeed did make those remarks.. could have said it better meself

    • It depends- if its about a (good) ManU player being attracted to another club i.e. tapped up..then its strictly against all scruples and gentelmanly conduct.. for the England manager to comment ..However if it is another club having a good player tapped up by Man U... then it is perfectly alright...

ROBERT .. why not enter the Spot NO Difference Competition .. you never know you might win (and accept the prize!

    • I am not sure whether it is inappropriate or not, but I suppose it is a move that could affect Capello. He will have a desire for each England player to be playing in the environment he feels is best for that player, and he obviously thinks Lampard is better off at Chelsea.
