After watching the drunken thug Gerrard attack a man mob handed it makes me wonder is he any better than Joey Barton ?
After watching the CCTV footage it makes me wonder.
Is he a good role model for kids ?
Is he fit to be Captain ?
Is he fit to represent England ?
Gerrard's behaviour in this one incident is in the same category as the kind of behaviour it seems we can expect from Barton at any given time. Barton is a serial thug. Prior to this incident there is nothing to suggest that Gerrard is. I am not justifying what Gerrard did in that bar, but I would not make one drunken incident of unacceptable behaviour make me judge him in the same category as Barton. Nor can it wipe out his exemplary behaviour prior to this. Yes it is a blemish on his record, but unless it is repeated, it is unfair to compare him with Barton.

Totally agree welsh. Whilst drunk Gerrard got himself involved in an incident which may not have left him with a criminal record but which has damaged his good name but all the indications are that it was a one off. Barton doesn`t have a good name to damage because of the frequency with which he gets involved in similar incidents. So on that basis the two men are poles apart.
as much as i dislike gerrard hes hes nothing like barton anyone can get caught up in a fight shit happens but barton is atotal idiot who should never deserve his lifestyle i mean how many more chances is he gonna get
And the answer is no.
As much as Barton deservedly gets condemned no-one says the same about Gerrard. Yet there both scouse football thugs.
But 25-30 years ago or more gangs of little thugs like Gerrard and Barton were just hooligans rampaging around hurting other fans.
