    Tactical sub?

I couldn't help but getting frustrated with Fergie's starting line-up tonight. It's unbelievable how he can go for Gibson as a winger and play Rooney on the left side of the pitch. And was Anderson Injured? in my opinion, this substitution is what cost us the three points tonight. He is the Manager of the team but sometimes he makes decisions that don't always work positively. I think Ando was more threatening than Fletcher. I think he could have thrown in a pacy player in given we had Obertan and Chicharito on the bench. Still top of the table anyway but it would have been sweet being top by points not goal difference. What do you guys think...

    • Tactically it was wrong from the start yet alone subs. I'll repeat it again, I hate 4-5-1/4-3-3!!!
It's negative and we never get close to playing at our attacking best in that formation, certainly not without pacy wingers like Nani in the side.
Rooney was a waste out left, and played pretty poorly. Giggs should have been on his natural side, and either Obertan given a chance right (either he's good enough or he isn't) or play Fletch out of position there.

As for subs, we should have at least reverted to 4-4-2 at the break after a poor first half where we were second best. Hernandez also came on far too late and Ando looked to have more left in the tank than some of the others left on the pitch.

    • You're spot on. This season he has made some very questionable tactical decisions. I can't believe we didn't revert to 4-4-2 until the 90th minute.

Its pathetic really, someone should give Fergie the hairdryer treatment, because this is becoming a regular thing now.

Gibson was bent over with his hands on his hips, gasping for air 2nd half he was so knackered, and Giggs had nothing left with 20 minutes to go.

Why we were holding on against such a poor attacking side only Fergie will know.

      Berbatov was brilliant at least.

    • The first half reminded me of our first half against Sunderland away. We were that bad in my opinion, considering our form. This team really has a problem playing on the road, and we need to change that if we want to win the league. We have thrown away a great opportunity to increase the gap today with 3 points. Our rivals must be very happy right now.
