Manchester United Message Board
I said it earlier in the week... Utd could be on the slide ala Liverpool in the late 80s. Liverpool fans must be familiar with Utd's situation.. winning leagues and champiions leagues one season but not rebuilding with like-for-like/class players but still doing OK, for the short term.

You're a far better expert on your own club than I but I thought I would respond to the comparison with Liverpool.
I don't see that you are in the same position. You have a fantastic stadium with the biggest revenues of anyone in football. Liverpool's problem was that they didn't invest in infrastructure and the commericial side of the business when they were on top and therefore had no financial foundations to rebuild when things started to slide.
The only issue I see for Utd is the ownership. The money is there if the Glazers wish to spend it. Believe or not, having been through it ourselves, I hate seeing any club being stripped of its cash by owners and hope that this doesn't happen in your case. I don't believe it will as it makes no sense for them to do so unless they need cash quickly (in which case watch out).
Finally, if (and it is a big if) financial fair play is introduced the only winners will be Utd.
In short, I don't see you sliding the way we did.
I wouldn't be so hasty.
We are in transformation, we have work to do, but not as much as before we signed Smalling, Jones and Young.
We need to strengthen the central midfield and then we will look a lot better team.
