Fergie's FUMING at the Fixture List!

I appreciate this is a tongue-in-cheek thread but I do want to point something out which has left me doubting the fairness of the fixture list when comparing it to the other teams in the Champions league. After every CL group game, we face 5 tricky AWAY games. Yet Chelsea and City have 5 HOME games. This is not the first time Utd have been 'stitched up' in this fashion.

    This from The Guardian:
"The Old Trafford club, runners-up to champions Manchester City last season, appear to be the big losers among England’s Champions League quartet with City and European champions Chelsea both handed five home games immediately after continental fixtures, with Arsenal due to play three home and three away fixtures following group stage outings.

United, who exited the Champions League at the group stage last season despite having home games after every group fixture, must travel to Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester City after European games in the opening half of the season. "

    Whole article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/9339694/Premier-League-fixtures-201213-Manchester-United-face-testing-away-trips-after-Champions-League-matches.html

Although I am not conceeding the league or trying to put blame on poor results ahead of time, I do think it's a little unfair that Utd have 5 away games after CL games.

Err...would it have been fairer if Utd have 5 away games BEFORE CL games? or maybe 2 before and 3 after? How about 3 before and 2 after?

Is there a combination that would be considered fair?

Would it be fair for the other 16 teams who are not in the CL to tinker with the fixture list to make life more comfortable for the 4 CL teams?

The above paragraph blew away your conspiracy theory against manUre. In the last 3-4 seasons, arsenal have been scheduled to play away at manUre first, it's easy to argued that Arsenal are being disadvantaged (or to use your words, stitched up) by fixtures list panel by being drawn away at manUre first.

manUre were handed 5 home games after their midweek CL matches last season, the most amongst the quartet and still failed miserably to get out of the weakest group. What does that tell you?
