    Where the midget went wrong.

    The midget isn't the first person, with a lack of footballing knowledge, to misunderstand the laws of the game with regards to tackles.

    Let's look at a part of his own post regarding 'sliding tackles', even though Sagna's tackle was from behind, this is what he wrote ...

    "'A sliding tackle is not in itself foul play, however there are a number of fouls that commonly occur during the execution of a sliding tackle.

    Examples of such fouls punishable by a direct free kick or penalty kick include:

    When a player tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making contact with the opponent BEFORE touching the ball;

    When a player in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force: kicks or attempts to kick an opponent;"

    His first example is specifically about missing the ball, but catching the player. His confusion stems from believing that as long as the tackler touches the ball before the player, it cannot be classed as a foul.

    This is obviously ridiculous, and shows a complete lack of intelligence, as his second example shows .... "in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force"

    Let's see that again ..... "in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force"

    This quite clearly states that who touches the ball first is irrelevant if the tackle is deemed careless, reckless or using excessive force.

    In Sagna's case, the ref was behind the tackle, so was in no position to see who touched the ball first, this means he considered the tackle to be 'careless, reckless or using excessive force'.

    As I said, the midget isn't the first, and won't be the last, to be confused by the laws, unless you're familiar with the game it can be confusing.
