    Barry to the REDS

Let him go!!! He has lost his heart for Villa a long time ago... No point sticking to a player who will only give wrong passes or not even give his best anymore... Let alone the CAPTAIN!

Just make the reds pay, and pay A LOT they will... What's 15, 30 or even 45 million pounds to the reds, when they can re-coup that amount by winning the champions league or even the top 4? Make them pay a world record for our captain and we wish them all the best - they'll need it.

    • not likely to pay more than 15million, as that is all he is worth and all liverpool can afford for someone who will sit on the subs bench.

it is strange how in football people are not allowed to play where they want, it like being a slave (though paid far too much). if he wants to play for a team that can win things then he should be allowed to.

you are right why do managers and directors not know that if someone wants to leave then keeping them to play poorly with no heart is stupid. captain gerrard is all about heart and it makes him one of the best midfield players in the world when he is in the liverpool shirt.

    • Well, for me Barry's outburst was to be expected. I think he is getting very anxious because it has all gone quiet on the 'north western front'. He clearly is trying to force the issue by bitng the hand that feeds him. He obviously wants us to cut the price to sell an 'unhappy' player...well he had a chance to become a legend and has blown that now. He has disappointed me big time. If I was MON I would definitely dig my heels in.

    • If Barry stays because Rafa seems to be a bit short of cash to sign quality players, then it would be a massive shame if Barry is out of sorts for a while. Almost certain to happen with all the un-settling that this will have done to him.

Probably take half a season to get the real Barry back......Thanks Rafa!!

    • It's a difficult one, Nige.

If it's come this far then he has to go because he obviously doesn't want to stay and will not give 110% (Ron Saunders' favourite saying) for the team any more.
Of course it's up to Rafa to pay a couple of million more to sort it and of course it's not up to MoN to put his arm round Barry and convince him to stay. As you say, Barry has a contract to fulfill.

Whatever happens, we have to get used to the idea that Barry has to be replaced. The sooner he goes the better for the team spirit.

I still wish Barry all the best for the things he has done for the club. He's not really acting any worse than any other top player. It's just the way the game has become.

Yeah mate, saw that article too. Kind of funny that Barry is taking out his "anger" of not moving to Anfield out on Villa, when in actual fact, Rafa is the one that is NOT EVEN INTERESTED to match Villa's valuation.

What's all this talk that Barry will make Liverpool a better team, best friends with Gerrard etc. A lot of SPANISH BULL S@^&! And you wnder why???

For everyones' sake, let's make it quite clear that Villa do want to keep Barry, it's Liverpool that is taking Barry as a DONKEY, bringing his expectations up, then dropping it like the A-Bomb, not securing his services.

Go on Rafa, put the money where your Spanish pride is. Come in, pay the money and transfer Barry at Villa's asking price, like you did with Torres, we dare you.

    • Just read the latest post from Barry...

Now before you lot say (as I would expect) "fack orf you Bluenose w"nker,".....I would like to add my view. He is an ungrateful towrag, who forget's just who made him. Why should MoN run after him with tempting morsels and plead with him to stay?

I for one would do exactly what MoN is doing, ignore him and if he wants justification......show him his contract with two years left to run....then let him rot in the stiffs. A contract is a two way thing...unless you are a footballer!

However, rant over......don't expect him to run out on Aug 9th in the first match. I expect him to being getting comfortable in his new customary role as head bench warmer at Anfield.

      Any other opinions?

    • Glad you think I'm keeping up some kind of standard, but don't let anyone know, I don't want to ruin my rep!

You might be right the silence could be the sound of a deal being hammered out. But another consideration is that I don't think a final offer from LFC will come in until the deal on Alonso is either complete, or at least in its final stages, and that is not likely to happen unitl after the Euro's as the player is occupied with his national team duties.

    • don't know Mike....close season is alway's the same with speculation and promises, and when it all kicks off again I always wonder just why I bother, no loyalty like it is for us fan's...... I suppose it's just a job to the players, mercenaries to the highest bidder.

Bullocks to em....Im off for a pint.

    • i would think that G.B will be away within 5 days of the euro 2008 final,,

i suspect that if there was any hope of him staying
M O N would have spent the time here not on what i hope is a bbc paid scouting trip,,

as for mr steer i think he has simply exhausted his every argument and really has shown great perseverance to his cause but his arguments did not stand up,, LFC will pay 18 million and life will go on,,

as it goes i actually think that you are in better shape for the coming season than we are at the moment
