    New Year Transfer Wish list

A good addition to our team would e Jacob Butterfield, the 21-year-old Barnsley midfielder who ran rings around us in November.

    • Agree totally with you Andy concerning Butterfield. The big boys are sniffing around and Villa appear to be running favourites to sign him as his contract runs out at the end of this season. If money was no object, how about this for a spine. McCarthy, Collins, Andrews (both on loan at Ipswich till Jan) or Butterfield (Barnsley) and Holt (Norwich).. In young Jacob Butterfield ( a Bradford lad) Barnsley have one of the youngest captains at 21 and an outstanding young player who can boss the game from midfield. We all know Grant Holts qualities from past encounters oh how we need someone to boss up front and legally batter a few centre halves about .
However we know that there is little or no chance that Simon will have any reasonable level of financial support from Bates and Mates outside the loan system. The only source of income is to sell on a couple of our prize assets to fund incoming quality players suited to moving us forward in the new year. Saleable asset McCormack, Snoddy and Howson pick any two from three. Down to one now as Howson and Snoddy out of the equation due to injury and operation. Down to McCormack then… oops. Blackburn are currently sniffing around to sign him and with Andrews returning to Blackburn then a deal could be struck with money coming our way as well. I would love to see Andrews(nine goals already from midfield) operating and governing our midfield with Clayton Howson and Butterfied. But I feel we have to forget about the latter, mores the pity. If he indeed goes to Villa we could ask for Delph back on loan.
As Easy would say "wishful thinking"
