    Defoe to Man United?

£12 Million for Defoe, not sure about you but this sounds like value to me. I think he is certainly replaceable, his form is so hit and miss and we neede consistency up front. What do you think?

    • i agree ,12 million on offer = 15 million prob,
he hasnt performed cosistently and bent is prob ready to jump ship at charlton and would be a good replacement.
what about taking smith in part deal .,and playing him in his original strikers role.
he'd boost our midfield ,and if he came close to his leeds striker role, would be good.
thinking back to kanoute,[top scorer in spain] ,there is that fear about defoe doing lke wise.
thankfully ,i dont gotta make these decisions.

    • all depends on who is available?

      Gotta sell but gotta buy

      • First of all its a just a rumour (Daily Mirror says it all really)

Secondly, it would be foolish to do it for the money. We don't need the cash, we have plenty of it believe it or not. Plus if we're going to advance and go up a gear as a club rather than hovering in mid table mediocrity we'd best not be selling players to teams who we're supposed to be 'challenging' for the top 4/5. Carrick was an exception as he depserately wanted to go.

Defoe, if you keep him happy, will hopefully want to stay with the club who have given him so much. Yes he is inconsistent, but he has flashes of brilliance, just like team which is why you can't really do without them.

I would like to see him stay a Spurs player and improve, if given the chance, his temperamental form. I would also like to see someone from Spurs come out and quash these rumours and show some loyalty to the guy and say "we want him to stay".

    • You're right about his form for us. Only thing is, we all know how good he can be and it would be sickening if we sold him only for him to hit top form and blow away most other Prem strikers - I could really see this happening! Wish he just hit a consistent run with us - enough to persuade MJ to tie him down and play him more because an in-form Berbatov and Defoe pairing would be incredible.

      • i reckon its wishful thinking ,that hes gonna come good...
we can wait and wait ,but the number of times he plays and doesnt score far outweighs the times he scores,
if man u are offering 12 mill, i reckon they'll go to 15mill, .the other possibility would be to take smith in part exchange +12 mill.
he was a proven goal scorer at leeds, put in midfield by mu cause of who were in front of him.
that would be a good deal i believe ....he's still young, a fighter, home grown, and buckets of exp....
        whaddya all think????

      • UTD's initial offer for carrick was in the region of 10-12 mil. So if the rumours are true then Defoe could potentially be leaving for circa 15mil! This has gotta be good business due to his inconsistency. I'd rather keep a firing on all cylinders Defoe but this has never happened over a season. Think Berbatov cost 10.9 mil - Defoe is not irreplaceable. That said however, His goal against Wigan was a little reminder of what he can make out of nothing. I'd like to see him stay this season and if he doesnt produce then let the Mancs have him.

There are other players here who we must keep at all costs (King, Dawson, Chimbonda, Lennon, (hopefully) Malbranque, Berbatov, Keane, Huddlestone) - I dont think Defoes falls in this bracket until he proves otherwise.
