    Benitez on Keane

Not good news.... but I still can't see L'pool having the necessaries for this to go through (hopefully).

    • I dont think it shows a lack of ambition on our part, quite the contrary in fact.
We all know Berba and Keane have been awsome for us and if they were to be replaced by donkeys or has beens Id be worried but some of the names we are currently being linked with as replacements are mouth watering...Milito, Arshavin, Pavulychenko.......even Villa again.
Ramos does not lack ambition, neither does Levy so I expect decent replacements capable of banging them in!
Every player moves on eventually and now its our turn to lose a couple. The goons survived the loss of TH. One day Gerrard will leave the pool and Ronaldo will leave MU.
Im Robbies biggest fan but he's not the best striker weve ever had! We will survive his loss and that of Berbs.

    • The whole thing is a bloody farce. Berbatov's agent has made no secret over the last 6 months that he's looking for a move away from Spurs. Get him out as soon as possible because I'm sure the rest of the squad are as p'd off with it as we are.
I don't even want to talk about Keane going.

    • I think this is now becoming a war of words - and SAF is a past master at verbal jousting.

Remember how he, The Special One and Wenger used to wind each other up before their matches?

Can't think that Levy would have come out publicly if there wasn't any truth in it. If for any reason there isn't Manure should still be reported for tapping up because of their previous comments on wanting Berba and how well he'd fit into their team. It clearly unsettled him. Can't think why we didn't do it last year when they did the same thing.

    • D.Levy statement on spurs website.

There has been substantial speculation in respect of the futures of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, including press comment from both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. In response our Chairman, Daniel Levy has made the following statement:

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."
Now if the storys are'nt true, why would he publicly come out and say this. And Alex Ferguson saying that spurs will be embarrased by reporting Manc's to PL. Just goe's to show just how arrogant Fergie is.

    • I hate saying this as a Spurs fan, but with this Berba and Keano saga, it's showing the lack of ambition on Spurs side.
If we intend to break into the top four we need to keep players like those.
Sad fact is, is that for Berba and Keane it's too late, as they have expressed their desire to leave so now they have to go. Just make sure they don't go on the cheap.
Berba to Barca. YES YES YES

    • Thing is Levy has repeatedly said that Spurs won't comment on speculation.... all well and good when you're trying to buy someone (no-one had a clue about us landing Modric did they), but when the rumours are about one of your own players sometimes all parties involved need to know the score..... especially the fans!!!!

Selling Berbs & Keane definitely does not send out the right message..... FFS we're supposed to be building a team to challenge the top 4.... saying "Come in Rafa, come in Sir Alex, take our best players and why not just walk all over us while you're at it" would make us look ridiculous.

On a positive note, just love Poyet's energy and enthusiasm.... he must be great to have around the dressing room and on the training ground. : )

    • ive been thinking that your right levy or ramos hasn't come out and said he is going nowhere and if he does he will cost you x amount.

the only person to speak out so far is poyet i think we just can't lose him what message would it send out to us fans? selling both your number 1 strikers and still claiming your aim is champions leauge football.

the whole this has just unsettled robbie and with the constant talk about berba he will be unsettled i think its time levy come out and said what the clubs intentions are

    • The problem is the Levey has not coming out and said ok if you want keane then we want a player swap lets say gerrard or torres or just yep you can have keane but it will cost you the same price as david villa or even just dont be silly go away ...would do.
After all villa might be class but not proven in the PL where as with keane you know he will get you goals.

      Your thoughts?

    • Well depends on who you talk to. He's not popular in my books at the moment and even with the ankle surgery, he's not high on my favourite manutd players list. There are some who is defending him and there are some that just waiting to see what the club says.

As for Berb, yeah he's getting a bit of a big head and demanding to be at a Champions club. That's nuts!! It's not like you can buy them and add them to your collection. I don't know if Berbs is going to ManUtd but he's in for a surprise if he think he can just walk in and demand. Fergie wouldn't put up with crap like that. Arrogance can win games but so can determination, fairness and respect.

I don't see Keane leaving Spurs. That itself is a mystery but I doubt Ramos will let him go.

    • well its 13, but whats a mile here or there hehe.

Guess Ronaldo is not a poular figure then?. The masses have turned on him as and rightly so, the club comes first, player second. Ronaldo getting a bit too big for his boots. He's starting to be a bit media obssessed along with being self obsessed too. What a big'ead eh

Berbatov gets a lil big headed too with his arrogance. But then again thats what makes these players WINNERS. Arrogance/confidence whatever you wanna call it

And i must say gutted if Keane goes. He's been part of the furniture
