Modric out, Adebayour & Samba in

I'd be happy if Modric went, and we got in Samba & Adebayour?

Who agrees? I reckon these guys would be up for the cause.

Modric is begining to piss me orf. I'd take 30m now just to advance other signings.

    • I don't think he'll sulk either but if he does we can't stick him in our reserve team since we no longer have one. Fine him a few weeks' wages - that might concentrate his mind.

I think it's a point of principle for Levy now - he's staked his reputation on it and doesn't strike me as a man to eat humble pie willingly. Yes, I know people will throw the Berbasulk saga back in our faces, but Danny boy has learned from that.

"our players need to know they are contracted to a successful ambitious club" - not sure we can say that with any conviction just yet given our track record in recent transfer windows and especially if these rumours about Joe Cole are true!, but I get your drift. Hopefully the signings of Adebayor and (fingers crossed) Diarra can persuade Modric.

    • Disagree.. Modric wont do the big sulk, because he knows he will be committing professional suicide If he does. He will be relegated to the reserves without question. Levy will not be held to ransom and will most certainly not give any ground to our rivals. He knows what he is doing, This one statement alone signifies a change in this club we have been needing for so long now. Up until now we have been a selling club, this has to stop if we want to change the psyche of both players and supporters. As fans we need to stop degrading ourselves and our players need to know they are contracted to a successful ambitious club. This means so much more to our us than the money we would generate from modric alone, investing in the future and gaining some credibility alone the way will do us the world of good. Respect to you Levy. COYS

    • Lets see how the future pans out. The Modric situation depends on how stubborn he is. If he stays, he might play below par (sulking), end up in the reserves, costing us a few million in salary. Then again, is a complete turn around in his attitude possible? I hope so, but doubt it. I believe we are holding out for a higher offer as the window nears. I'd rather have 30m than a disruptive influence hanging around. Things wont be the same between our midfield gem & and our great club.

    • This is all good news for us. We need these players badly right now. Had we had these additions to our squad Monday night it most probably would have been a very different outcome. Levy is doing a great job and is showing a real desire for us to succeed and build a top quality side. Were not too far off but we still have a few too many 2nd rate players that need to go. ie jenas, bentley, palacios, pav, corluka, hutton, bassong etc. We should keep crouch, he is dependable and always produces the goods in the BIG games.

    • If Modric had played on Monday night the result might have been completely different.

Adebayor deal is done; Diarra seems to be almost done though I'm not holding my breath until it's confirmed he's signed on the dotted.

But Levy has now told the Chavs to fcuk off - though given their arrogance they'll no doubt keep on until the window closes. It's gonna be a long week ahead of us.

    • Adebayour is venimous rubbish, he will upset everyone at spurs, don't go there !! tell you what pay modric what he's worth and he might stay, in fact pay all the squad what there worth, buy 2 really top class players and give it a go, oh sorry mr.levy I forgot your only getting paid 20% of what your worth as well aren't you.

    • AFC fan in peace - why have Modric sulking about the place as we did with Fabregas last season?

      • In think its Harry that wants to sort his head out, its so stupid for Harry to turn around and say Lukas head is not right who is he fooling he did not play him in Europe because he did not want him cup tied for when he moves to Chelsea and now he does not want to play him against arguabaly against one of our biggest rivals in a very big game for us, get real Harry we want the points play him your paying his wages for sitting on his arse, Redknapp is begining to get under my skin everytime he is interviewed he evades giving answers stating thats a question for Levy, in my opinion if Levy states Modric is not leaving then that should be the end of it.
Harry should say get out there your under contract.
If this is what has been stated that should be it if they are going to get rid they should have already done so as to sign new players, yet again Levy and Redknapp have waited till nearly deadline day to sign or get rid of players ludicrous as teams need to know who they are playing with sign them early so pre season can be used for these players to gel.
There is just over a week for us to sign someone ok the names of Diara and Adeybyou have been mentioned why are they dily dalying the season has started why are they not in place and how long will it take them to get used to there team mates.
Harry for all your talk and you are everywhere sky tv and all your articles in the paper along with your overated sons ten penneth your becoming some what the Portsmouth faithfull called you a money grabber get on with your job show them you are the boss get your finger out and play Modric if he gets injured so be it, Chelsea wont want him then, hes being paid by the club so use him, if then he still does not want to play stick him with the stiffs, or if you are going to sell him then sell him and get this farce of a transfer done for 35 Million no less.

    • nah we need to keep him. This will give us some much needed credibility, it shows ambition and that we are no longer a selling club that caters to its rivals.
He'll be out for a short while until he gets his head together, but for him to assume he was leaving in the first place is ridiculous and shows how little authority/credibility we have as a club.
By going against his wishes shows we are ambitious and ready to change. people will look at us with a new found respect. This is worth so much more to us than 30 million sqiud.

      • Take the money,Modric is unlikley to sign a new contract, unless they offer the wage the russians ,unlikely,he not happy, sell and get some fresh blood in not aging goalies and others on free transfers.come on harry and danny spend spend or head for the religation zone

      • I totally agree...Normally, you would say ok,you dont want to play for us then go, but it's important to look at the bigger picture...The position were in at the moment, we are so close to challenge the like's of the chav's..arse..pool..mainly because we have serious quality in Modric..Bale..Sandro,,VdV and it's quality that get's you anywhere at the end of the day..so we could bring in other's who could do a good job, but wont have the star factor, and we'll end up anywhere from 10th to 5th then you lose Bale..Sandro come Januarys window, because they know they just have to say, " let me go or I wont play "...So now's the time to make a massive statement to our player's that the club will not roll over...Because Modric is on a low wage compared to other's of his quality, its not going to hurt us that much, considering the wage's wer've been paying for King and Woody for not playing for the past few season's...It then give's Harry time to sort Modric out, by saying if he give's us a solid season, try he's best for us..then If he still wants to leave, then fair enough......We cant buy ready made quality, and unless we find a gem, this push to join the elite will fade.....So while we dont want anyone who doesnt want to play for us, Its more than about one player....Modric must stay....for now...
