Tottenham Hotspur Message Board
a link i stole off another thread
we are 2nd only behind utd in the solvency table.
i know nothing about finance but surely this is good news?!
anyone know much about finance?
i take it solvency means how u can provide for yourself? kind of like self sustinable u are?
I know our salary cap gets slammed, but one of the reasons why we're financially stable is that Levy and the board keep the costs down.
If you look at Ade, he's on what £175k a week - £9m per year? You could take the excess of just what Ade's (let alone having a team paid that much) paid over out top player, (£100k per week) and give virtually the whole first team £10k per week more each. Two Ade's would make the nearly whole squad £10k better off per week. Scary.
Makes you wonder how Pool will cope with another year without the CL 'bonus' - the Chavs will presumably get enough from this CL outing to help sustain next year.
At least Levy et al have never been in the situation where they've relied on getting the CL bunce.
"Alongside United as the next-biggest success story of 2010-11 are Tottenham Hotspur, for whom Champions League qualification improved cash flow by £50 million. It meant that after all their running costs and debt interest had been paid, Spurs brought in £66.4 million in cash, money that in theory could be spent on player signings. (Although, with construction projects at their new stadium and training ground under way, Spurs’ board directed the bulk of it, £32.1 million, at those developments instead.) "
Absent the CL money we would have been sixth. Surprised at Wolves though - bunch of tightwads up there.
