    Here we go again

I watched Willian against Chelsea and was most impressed, so I hope we renew our interest in Jan, especially as he has issued a " come and get me " statement. Hopefully we can still get Moutino because I think we were very close in the summer. The thing we are lacking throughout the squad now is anyone with genuine flair and sharpness. Some people asked, is Modric really any good? he dont score goals ect, but I think we can see exactly what he did, and thats set the tempo of our play, and the ability to get out of tight spots and keep moves flowing. now we lack anyone with creativity, and only have Dembele with any purpose about their play. On last night, I agree with most things ( Sandro needs to stop thinking he's Brazilian ) and trying to dribble his way pass players, and stick to what he does best. The one point I would disagree about is Lennon. although he didnt really take on the full backs enough, I thought he showed a lot of energy and desire and while he might be seen as an odd choice for captain, I saw him at least three times having ago at some of our player's for not doing the simple, basic thing's in strong terms and I was pleased to see he took the armband seriously.

    • agreed remmah. that lack of goals & assist is a stupid arguement. it wouldnt only be applicable if u start with the ball on the edge of the other teams area!

he sets the tempo, keeps the ball, always their if u got nowhere to go with the ball & he gets it to the people who make the assists.

plenty of seasons xavi only got 2 or 3 league goals & assists.
only recentley when he went further foward did he score more.

modric was like our xavi. its silly to compare silva and modric.
2 very different players with 2 very different jobs.

if we cant get moutinho which looks likely (who can blame him for wanting to go to a better & bigger team), than id like banega of valencia.

i think now we havent got modric, people are realising all the good unnoticed stuff he did. missed him hugely this season.

not really seen much of willan, but looks promising.

i actually think lennon has been 1 of our best & most consistant players this season. he has matured a lot in the last year or so.

      • Not saying Lennon is not a good player - just not Captain material as proved last night. I didn't see him shouting at anybody but if he did it didn't make any difference did it!
The Captain needs to be a big personality who demands respect. Lennon is not that is he. He has done ok this season so far - not brilliant but ok. He still does not cross the ball as well as he should, his passing is average as is his tackiling. His asset is his speed buit he does not use that as much as he should - again, look at last night.

A Captain is someone who, such as last night when the team was not performing, either lifts the team by setting an example or uses a carrot or stick, depending on who he is aiming at, to get his team mates to play better. Hate to say it but...al la Roy Keen. Lennon by comparison is a mouse.
