    • Evening fellow Yids.
Wathched the game on football first and thought we dominated the first half.
OK we were put under pressure in the second, but what do you expect when you're 2-0 down,it was hardly unlikely that the Pool were going to sit back and concede more goals, plus BRs job could be on the line and listening to his post match comments he was definately trying to save his own arse.
I don't remember lloris having to make any great saves and had it not been for Bale sticking his face in front of Lennons clearence we would have won 2-0
Nice to see Dembele back and once fully fit will bring the the midfield back to full strength.
Sadly we were unable to bring Daffy into the game but feel that Dempsey is not exactly what we need up front and that had we had Ade available our attack would have been far stronger.
Anyway i'm happy with the result and we showed that we were capable of soaking up some pressure with the ever capable Daws at the helm.
Lets hope we can carry on the winning ways at Fulham and AVB can really start to appreciate what a fantactic team he has to work with, especially when all fully fit.
      Nice chatting again.....atb .......jeffall....SPURS FOREVER.

    • Sfer,

I also have reservations about AVB, but what did he do wrong yesterday?

Sigg for Dempsey, I don't see that as negative, if anything Sigg is more attacking minded than Dempsey, no?

I'm always a bit perplexed by substitutions on after 90ish mins and bringing Hudds on will never excite me, but Dembele is coming back from injury and maybe AVB just had a few concerns, I'd hardly class bring Hudds on, at that time in the game as negative and what other CM options do we have available?

Ok, AVB looks a wally with his not book and seems to be a bit twitchy, plus he make some comments I don't agree with (after the goon game, what was he talking about?), but surely we have to be fair with him, I think he got it spot on yesterday. Imagine if we'd had Ade and Younes fit?

We are yet to see our full strength team line up together and we definitely need to add some depth and quality in Jan!

Credit where its due surely? Bale and AVB deserve some!

      COYS!

    • I can't agree with the 'Independents' then. I certainly don't think we were lucky, the second half wasn't comfortable, but it was good to see Walker have a decent game, he's looked off the pace a bit prior to last night.

Bale has been playing well and without him we are without one of our most potent attacking threats, but we have other attacking options. Without Suarez, Liverpool seem to be completely toothless. So they had more possession and made more passes (sideways and backwards?) they had no penetration. Suarez and Sterling are the only players capable of beating a man, whereas we have 4/5 players (Bales, Lennon, Defoe, Dembele) who can do just that. Could that explain why Liverpool had a high pass rate? because they are passing between themselves, rather than taking a player on and beating them??

Bale was the biggest difference IMO.

Other than that, I don't think there was much in it, we started so fast Liverpool couldn't keep up, IMO Sandro completely dominated the midfield in the first half, by the time they started playing they were 2 down and trying to contain Bale who was just awesome, its no wonder he looked knackered after 60mins the man doesn't stop running, is there a more dynamic midfielder in the league at the moment? Again Dembele looked class, he's such an important player for us and IMO offers as much as Luka did, hopefully he will continue to improve.

The second half belonged to Liverpool.

Dempsey looks like he's trying to prove a point, but needs to remember he in a team and cannot do it all, Sig was a little disappointing! why bring Hudd on at all? 5 mins isn't worth while, is it?

Not a top draw performance but enough!

I was seriously disappointed with Gerard, Dembele's tackle was sublime and Stieve should have acknowledged it. Not good stieve!

Just in case anyone missed MOTD:

    • Well, the so called independent experts seemed to think overall we were lucky to get any points at all from that game. What would the score had been if Bale had not been on fire?

Pool had 66% possession and 17 attempts at goal. Suarez had an off night and Lennon took advantage of Rodgers bizzare choice of Dowling at LB.

Happy with the three points obviously - not happy with the way we played and against other teams we would probably not be so lucky. There was once again general and independent criticism of AVBs negative substitions.

      Just sayin!

    • SB,

There's no way you'd predict us to win! ha ha,

If we can keep Suarez quiet we have a good chance,

If Dembele isn't fit could Dempsey be an option in CM with Sandro? (if he's fit) he seems to have the work rate for it and I'd like to try that rather than Hudd. I'd also like to see Falque get a chance, he was good against Maribor.
