How often do you see that in media?!
Interesting parag here:
"The one cloud on the injury front for Villas-Boas was the ankle and hamstring damage that Emmanuel Adebayor suffered against Swansea. The squad is short on strikers and although Adebayor's injuries are not serious and he has said that he will not go with Togo to the Africa Cup of Nations that begins next month because of a pay dispute, Villas-Boas will scrutinise the January market for fresh blood up front."
Not sure what the implication is re Adebayor, a couple of weeks out? Perhaps he just fancied a Christmas holiday...
It sounds categoric that we'll be looking at strikers come Jan, no idea if it's just the turn of phrase or if he knows something we don't. I'll be reading interviews with AVB with interest then - when 'Arry came in & Comolli got his marching orders it looked like he had full control on purchases, but that gradually got less & less & less (remember the "I thought Daniel had bought me a car but instead I got a Van (Der Vaart)"?), I'm interested to see who it looks like wears the trousers in this window.
Ar least on Sunday we played for 90 minutes. Still not to me back to our 'best', but a vast improvement on the 'we can only play for 20 minutes'. Then add back in BAE, Kaboul, Parker and Bale and AVB has a nice selection problem over the Christmas period.
29 points from 17 - very good place to be given the way we've played overall. If AVB can stop us wilting post Christmas and get Ade and Daffy scoring consistently (assuming Ade isn't out too long), then we still may do 70 points.
Another 90 minutes against Stoke - this time with a bit more flair and penetration and it should set it up nicely for Villa - and a positive outlook for me for the 2nd half of the season.

Hmm, people assuming that Parker and BAE will settle back into the squad but I'm concerned about their lack of match fitness. BAE especially who we know can be prone to error/lapse in concentration. Kaboul will be out for a while longer so let's hope Daws gets back soon because we need him in the team ahead of Gallas (I've been a fan of his but think his legs are now gone).
It'd be interesting to see whether Parker does make the first team back, but I'd never play a central midfield partnership of Sandro and Parker - both men effectively doing the same job, never works. Dembele should have nothing to fear because he adds that bit of class we need going forward - everything went through him the first half v Swansea.
Interesting stuff NBR, and with Arsenal also benefitting from having a fuller more settled squad to call upon, and now just two points adrift of Spurs (and Chelski), let the battle for London dominance commence.
