  • Over many seasons, 36 points was enough...this season is unique, we are on 38 and still not safe. Can we do it ?

lets look at the last games and my predictions

    Liverpool v Blues (D) 1-1
    Birmingham City v Wolves (W) 2-1 Newcastle United v Birmingham City (L) 0-2 Birmingham City v Fulham (D) 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham City (L) 0-3

That will give us 42 points....just enough. I reckon 40 points will relegate someone this year.

Any one else want a prediction ?

    • errrrrr.....................................................no

    • 39 points now. Looks like we are going to crawl over the line, not sprint over it. One more point and we should be safe...I fcukin hope so anyway !!

    • Agree completely, to do well in Europe and the premier next season we must solve the goal scoring problem. A bit more creativity in midfield with more defensive cover at full back should see us have a good season and see us getting towards the top ten.
      KRO.

    • Have faith, we will stay up.
Not sure about Europe yet, can't seem to find any information on what is happening apart from if Man City win the FA Cup then we will be replaced in the 3rd round by Stoke and will play in the fourth round.
We need a striker or maybe 2 and some better defensive cover, apart from that then we will have an excellent chance.
The summer should see some rubbish cleared out, and hopefully some excellent signings, not necessarily big names but players who know where the net is.

    • If/when we stay up this will be the best season in Blues History! The last time we won the league cup there was no European competition!
Next Season I honestly think we have a realistic chance of winning the Europa Cup! The only thing against us is the uncertainty of the finances our owner has,I only hope Carsen Yeung is telling the truth, otherwise we are shagged without even getting a chance!

    • Does Larsson, Bowyer or Philips want to play; they are a few of the players out of contract so surely it is in their interests to play their best to ensure our survival.
I go back to an old argument; if a team is relegated then the players must stay until the January window simply because they or their performances took the club down.
Imagine if Liverpool, Arsenal or the Manchester teams were relegated, all their players would jump ship back to the premiership in an instance, as did players when we were relegated.
It would also make all teams more competitive throughout the whole season.
Martins I have an open mind, Derbyshire and Bentley maybe not, they are here just to get back into the Country or because they don’t get on with the managers at their respective clubs.
I have been through the works with Birmingham City since 1959, seen the highs and the lows, good teams who won nothing and bad teams that worked hard for what they got so I am optimistic but believe we will be safe this season.
I hear on the grapevine that Berbatov might leave UTD in the summer, now that is a striker we could do with, and only £8 million too, so throw in Jerome and offer £10 million we will bag a bargain.

    • Your predictions give us 43 pts. I agree with that total except no points today and draw at newcastle. We will survive. Looking at the games of teams below us i think 40 pts will do it.

    • 43 points even...hope we dont need that extra point !

      • The Blues have always been unpredictable and never do the easy thing, hopefully it won’t go down to the last match at Tottenham, and if it does then I think they will grind out the required result.
We always play well against Liverpool so a draw is a good call; we desperately need to win our remaining 2 games at home and with the supporters making the extra man is well within our means too.
Newcastle is not the team they were without Carroll so I can see a draw being realistic there.
That will give us 46 and a comfortable finish to what has been another good season.
Big Eck needs to be more attack minded and stop playing Jerome as the lone striker to make these predictions a reality, hopefully Martins will be back for the Newcastle game and he will want to prove them wrong,.
I think with Sunderland and Blackburn in freefall we will be safe with 40 points providing we don’t ship too many goals, the lack of goals scored has been our undoing this season and we are desperate for a 15/20 goal striker next season.

        Liverpool v Blues (D) 1-1
        Birmingham City v Wolves (W) 2-1
        Newcastle United v Birmingham City (D) 1-1
        Birmingham City v Fulham (W) 1-0
        Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham City (L) 1-0
