Having read a few threads on this. Who is in agreement.

    1. The Arsenal squad is well equipped to cope with a full season campaign, inclusive of a long run the CL?

    2. AW needs to sign one or two players in the summer?

    3. AW needs to get rid of one or two players in the summer? (Feel free to list your choices, but no more than two)

    4. As a supporter we should be happy with obtaining fourth spot in the EPL?

    5. As a supporter we should be happy that we have a great manager even if we don't come close to winning silverware again this year?

    6. As a supporter, we should be able to ask difficult questions the way the club is being run between ourselves, if only to obtain a concensus opinion of how we are doing?

    7. As supporters, we should be allowed to rejoice when we win an important game?

    8. As supporters, we should be allowed to question why we haven't won easier games?

    9. As supporters of football, we should be able to comment objectively on other teams performances (whether it be with humour/banter chucked in or not)?

    • I took it as a kind of compliment that he would go so far as to change his id to recognise my presence on the forum. so happy to have got under his skin

    • I hate charlie !!! ??? Where the hell did you come from? The bloody dog track at St.Bridge. Get back there and clean up the dog shit that keeps coming from you pack off mongrels. Dogba wont be around much longer, he's not getting much for his Rubals this year.

    • John, I don't mean to throw a spanner in the works but question 5 seems very leading.

The underlying assumption is that Wenger is a great manager. I'm not sure that is a given, especially in light of what's happened this year. He is a great coach though, I don't think anyone can argue against that.

      • That's a fair point well made DOW.

I think Paul has answered it very well. (apologies, have been out at footie training with my son hence not responding earlier)

I think a lot of us have been frustrated at the time it took AW to appoint/agree to bring someone in to replace Dein, who did a lot of important stuff that AW took on. Some of which he maybe didn't have all the requisite skills to acheive AND still effectively run one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

This could have had a bearing on our success or lack thereof, in the last few seasons.

        Cheers for the input though.

      • That is a great point actually, and one that has been debated on these boards as well at a few times in the past. It depends how you classify "coach" and "manager". I suppose you are saying that AW isnt "great" due to squad building and the ability to identify team needs and do whatever it takes to fill those needs.

Difficult one. I still dont know of too many coaches/managers who could do better without running up debt, and one of AW's major focuses has been on building sustainably, without going into debt. Did he get caught out last summer with the departures of Flamini and Hleb? Yeah, probably. But every manager has made mistakes (Rafa paying 18m for Keane is a nice example).

Three Championships is hard to argue with however. That alone should put him into the "great" manager stratosphere.

    • well there you go another predictable reply.....

Anyway on a footballing matter you would be happy with 4th...fair enough youve had youre injuries but then so have we,and chelski have had more than there fair share of injuries, plus a change of manager.

I cant believe you gooners are satisfied with this, its coming upto 4 years without winning silverware, and youre meant to be a BIG club.

Did youre mate Dodge go with you on holiday by any chance,as he seemed to disappear at the same time as you

    • 1. The Arsenal squad is well equipped to cope with a full season campaign, inclusive of a long run the CL? The last few season have proved that we cannot. We have continued to fall short of a sustained challenge to the EPL, while trying our damnest to win the other big cups.

      2. AW needs to sign one or two players in the summer? We do need a quality DM & a CB

      3. AW needs to get rid of one or two players in the summer? (Feel free to list your choices, but no more than two) Bendtner.

      4. As a supporter we should be happy with obtaining fourth spot in the EPL? This year, after the start we had, probably. But this should not be the norm. We should not be chasing a position in the top four.

      5. As a supporter we should be happy that we have a great manager even if we don't come close to winning silverware again this year? Top three in the EPL, CL Semi's & FA Cup Final should be our benchmark.

      6. As a supporter, we should be able to ask difficult questions the way the club is being run between ourselves, if only to obtain a concensus opinion of how we are doing? Absolutely. If we didn't we would be blind fools.

      7. As supporters, we should be allowed to rejoice when we win an important game? Absolutely, regardless of how we win it too.

      8. As supporters, we should be allowed to question why we haven't won easier games? The run of goaless draws was heartbreaking. We have the quality, but lacked the finish. Very frustrating as a supporter.

      9. As supporters of football, we should be able to comment objectively on other teams performances (whether it be with humour/banter chucked in or not)? I try to refrain from posting on other boards. I accept that there will always be some that will only target to begin an argument but they don't bother me at all. Others offer a outside viewpoint that quite often has validity, even though we may not like it.

    • 1. Clearly not. room for another couple of players but what I wouldn't want to see is a squad with players who are happy to get the odd appearance in the first team. too many players would see some happy just to pick up the wages. ie. Man Utd fringe players
      2. Yes I would say a central midfielder who can tackle and hold the ball up and a central defender to replace Gallas
      3. Bendtner and Gallas for the chop for me
      4. Of course not. but all things considered regarding injuries I think 4th would be an acheivement we should not take lightly
      5. semis in FA Cup and quarters in Champions League for me means damn close to silverware
      6. Of course we should be able to ask questions about the club. I travel up to games in a van with a few other supporters and we talk about the club all the way there and all the way back. and we often disagree
      7. I always rejoice when we win
      8. I always ask why we havent won easier games. hated the recent 0-0 run
      9. Yes but some blokes spend more time on here than they do on their own teams forums. mainly gloating United supporters. and it often goes further than banter from one or two so sod 'em

    • Are you going to answer them yourself? or did I miss that?

    • Nice questions John.

      1. The Arsenal squad is well equipped to cope with a full season campaign, inclusive of a long run the CL?

No - at best when all players healthy (which is unlikely to happen) our squad is deep enough for a top 4 finish.

      2. AW needs to sign one or two players in the summer?

Yes - plan for a new CB pairing - Gallas might not be around long and I would like to see experience in this position.

Yes - Still don't think we really have replaced Flamini or Vierra

Yess - true striker if we let Ade and Bendtner go

      3. AW needs to get rid of one or two players in the summer? (Feel free to list your choices, but no more than two)

I could live without Eboue, Bendtner (at best give this guy 1 more season on loan to a PL team), Ade.

      4. As a supporter we should be happy with obtaining fourth spot in the EPL?

This year yes, but I think we should always start with gunning for 1st.

      5. As a supporter we should be happy that we have a great manager even if we don't come close to winning silverware again this year?

No. What is the qualification of a great manager? I would like a winning manager. How many years should a manger get credit for past achievements? Shouldn't there be a notable improvement of the performance of the squad year-over-year if you are rebuilding?

      6. As a supporter, we should be able to ask difficult questions the way the club is being run between ourselves, if only to obtain a concensus opinion of how we are doing?

      100% agreed

      7. As supporters, we should be allowed to rejoice when we win an important game?

      100% agreed

      8. As supporters, we should be allowed to question why we haven't won easier games?

100% agreed. We are not all robots, this (questioning) is part of the fun of being a fan.

      9. As supporters of football, we should be able to comment objectively on other teams performances (whether it be with humour/banter chucked in or not)?

What is objectively? We should absolutely be allowed to comment whether tainted by our loyalty to AFC or not.

    • 1. they have proved that this year but we were cutting it close.
      2. needs to yeah one centre back and one DM (David Silva or alonso) but not to go begging though.
      3. i have changed eboue to stay, bendtner yeah and Ade hate to say it need santa cruz(cheaper) or david villa (expensive) no one else not even gallas he will go on his own.
      4.no but minimum
5.we have probably one of the best managers in the world right now. who can take his place really.
      6.yes
      7.yes
      8.yes
      9.yes

      • . The Arsenal squad is well equipped to cope with a full season campaign, inclusive of a long run the CL? Growing experience of young players means that we should be able to cope, but not win it.

        2. AW needs to sign one or two players in the summer? Yes, central defensive and a quality CM.

        3. AW needs to get rid of one or two players in the summer? (Feel free to list your choices, but no more than two) Hmmm.. not sure. We need more O'Shea's at this club - squad players who can do a job when needed.

        4. As a supporter we should be happy with obtaining fourth spot in the EPL? We should be seriously challenging for the title - if this sometimes means 4th then as long as we've put up a good fight, unlike this season.

        5. As a supporter we should be happy that we have a great manager even if we don't come close to winning silverware again this year? A great manager is enough as long as development of the team is noticeable and we believe that we will win the EPL in the near future.

        6. As a supporter, we should be able to ask difficult questions the way the club is being run between ourselves, if only to obtain a concensus opinion of how we are doing? Absolutely - the club is the fans as well as the players, manager, and board.

        7. As supporters, we should be allowed to rejoice when we win an important game? Absolutely! I'll do it regardless of whether I'm allowed.

        8. As supporters, we should be allowed to question why we haven't won easier games? Of course - we need to see that lessons are being learnt and the team is moving ahead. We do finance them after all.

        9. As supporters of football, we should be able to comment objectively on other teams performances (whether it be with humour/banter chucked in or not)? What - without being called a plastic or a Manc fake? Certainly not!!!
