Is Van Persie getting too big?

Here is a guys who has been a perennial crock and now he is talking about matching his ambition. The point is if he had stayed healthy last year we may have won the league. One good season and he is talking big. He is a very talented player but it really irks me that players try to talk tough. Surely he is not the greatest talent who played for us; namely Dennis Bergkamp. The question is: can we afford to cash in on him and draft in someone like Affeley?

    • Diaby and Van Persie are two completely different players, comparing the 2 is futile.... One is 25 and approaching his prime the other is still learning his trade and he's learning without Viera, Edu or Gilberto teaching him the ropes. He is a class player but ony shows it in fits and bursts, as he is young he can be forgiven, the PL is a better league than it was ten years ago when we bought a 20 year old Veira. Just my opinion....

I also don't see how you can call a player who has never scored even 20-25 league goals a 30 goal a season player,, I agree that he is always injured and that maybe with a injury free season he could score a bucket load but you can't say he can do it unless he does it or at least comes close to doing it which he hasn't. This season he has scored 16 in all competitions,, he needs to get 30 league goals and afew in the other competitions for me to bang on about him..

    • Diaby better than VP? different players altogether, i do rate Diaby myself though and think he really can be something special, and agree he needs a good run in a prefered position, time will tell, but did you say he was a better finisher than V.P. Fred?? i suppose it was April 1st huh?

As Chris said V.P IS a 30 a year striker who just needs more quality around him, also he has had to carry all the wieght this season, the guy is class and one of our jewels, if Arsenal fans cant see that then personally i dont know what they have been watching.

    • As a club do you not think its time to stop caomparing players to hose who have gone before we keep comparing DB10 and TH14 we will never see their like again and no football fan will

You don't all ways see the Manu fans compare every new player to Cantonna or Chelski compare them to Zola lets not make our plyers seem second rate by always comparing them to legends give them the freedo to be there own player RVP and DB10 do very difrent jobs for the team and are both very diffrent charactors so drop this and lets move on

    • My point exactly Ale.

If RVP respected Dennis when he was at Arsenal, and if Dennis wants to come back to Arsenal after finishing his badges at Ajax, then I would have thought he would be a great coach to the strikers/forwards.

He is a great role model for many aspects of the game, not least his loyalty.

    • Some people can coach and some can't
Some people you will all ways listen to and if they played in your postion the advice they give can be idealy suited to you
Why not have a forward/attacking coach to work with players like RVP or Vela after all we have GK coaches and no one has ever thought that meant the GK didn't respect the manager

    • I dont know the truth in the Arsenal Ronaldo stories, but where theres smoke.

Anyhow, i agree, Arsenal are NOT playing the best football now but i believe Wenger IS capable of producing THE VERY BEST, one manager and only one in IMHO can produce teams who play as well as a Wenger team and that is Ferguson.

People can easily have a dig as Arsenal at the moment, its hard to defend against thier points too, as far as i,m concerned though up until the Eduardo injury game of last season we were playing bloody well indeed, since then we,ve had a LOT of bad luck, the tide will turn and the REAL deal will once again show itself.

As for Milan, reminds me of a Micheal Caine qoute, goes something like "your a big fella, but your out of shape!"

    • I also have watched him for years Fred and he like EVERY striker misses sitters, but if your telling me he hasnt looked out of sorts in front of goal recently well, we,ll just have to agree to dissagree.

And i,m pretty sure he was alongside Bergkamp at the club or am i wrong?

    • Those stories of Ronaldo joining Francenal were grossly exaggerated, Ive already shot those down here before.

Now you can't surely still think you guys play the best football?!

Its been 5 years mate, now even half your fans are sick to death of the way you play! Fergie f*cked the Ramsey deal up by not making the effort to meet him personally, and worse, sending Gary Nev to show him around!

Italy is still a great league to play in. Milan are one of those teams I mentioned, you just dont say no to them.

    • Well it was stated i believe that he had "signed" for Arsenal only to change his mind because of a bigger financial offer from United wasnt it?

As for Shearer, the guy is a geordie and good luck to him, signing for United ISN,T what its all about, Rooney as a scouser is a JOKE surely? i mean come on.

And Ramsey? he signed for the best football playing club in the world, where better could you wish to learn your trade?

Also who in thier right mind would want to play in Italy when you have the chance to play in the prem? its second rate these days.
