  • The article mentions all the players available in our playing squad:

5 goalkeepers – Almunia, Fabianski, Mannone, Sczeszny, Shea
16 defenders – Sagna, Eboue, Clichy, Gibbs, Traore, Gallas, Vermaelen, Campbell, Silvestre, Senderos, Djourou, Bartley, Ayling, Hoyte, Cruise, Botelho
13 midfielders – Nasri, Arshavin, Fabregas, Wilshere, Ramsey, Song, Diaby, Denilson, Eastmond, Merida, Lansbury, Henderson, Frimpong
10 strikers – Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Walcott, Vela, Simpson, Watt, Sunu, Barazite, Emmanuel-Thomas

With the writer wishing to see the end of:

    Almunia, Fabianski, Shea
    Clichy, Traore, Ayling, Hoyte, Cruise
Nasri, Arshavin, Lansbry, Frimpong, Denilson, Diaby
Eduardo, Vela, Simpson, Watt, Sunu, Barazite

The writer hasnt mentioned the ones who will be free agents this summer on who he wants leaving but of the list I would only perhaps give another chance to Nasri, Arshavin, and maybe Simpson. Also selling one of Clichy and Traore not both.

Simpson can really be used as a winger, I would like to see Lansbury, Watt, Sunu, and Frimpong given another chance in Carling Cup though.

    • I don't believe Vela is good enough yet to play week in week out, I don't doubt his ability but I see him more as an impact player. The reason i'm not willing to be patient for Vela is because I see him along the same type as Eduardo (small, weak, highly skilled, but unbelievably brittle for this league). Therefore I don't think he has a long term future I may be wrong but his ability to hold his own in this league could be tested by sending him on loan to the likes of Bolton or Wigan as someone mentioned.

    • sylvestre, traore out.
In chamack and a DM who can operate as a LB or CB + a new goalie.

    • I would like to know which weed this writer has been smoking! It's throwing out players for the sake of it. Fabianski needs to be sent packing that is no big secret. But Wenger may try to prove a point and display his arrogance by persisting with him. He was after all the Polish GK of the year many lightyears ago! :P

But 20 players cleared out at the same time?? Did we just get relegated, finishing at the bottom of the league?? It simply doesn't make sense. Almunia is a great no. 2 and he will be a very able deputy to any good keeper we buy, if we buy.

The writer must have written the stuff in a seemingly ineberated state after the loss to Rovers! That's the only explanation I can find for the lack of simple reasoning and logic in his list. First of all the rule of homegrown players kicks in next season and over half the players fall in that category.

Players like Arsha, Nasri had decent seasons when one takes into account the performances they have put in and the time they were injured. Kicking out two LBs and then saying keep one of them...he needs to make up his mind how he expects Gibbs who isn't a proven quantity himself should last the season alone.

What have Frimpong, Ayling, Barazite, Sunu, Hoyte, Lansbury, Watt, Cruise and Shea done wrong? They haven't gotten a chance to show how good or for that matter bad they are. Most of them are barely out of their teens!

Vela has never really gotten a decent run in the side and Simpson has done well at QPR. They need at least a season to show if they are made for Arsenal. And Denilson is a good bench player. We are not Real or Barca where we can buy stars to make up the numbers. Players like Denilson are needed in the squad. Who may not be match winners but who can put in a decent shift when called upon.

We surely need to make some changes. But not knee jerk reactions. Some players have to move on and some will want to leave either for a better payday or more playing chances. If we get 3 really really really Top Class players we will be alright for another top 3 finish. No matter how much you spend in the market it can't guarantee you success. If that were so, Real and City would have won everything this season and Chelsea would have the CL a longtime ago.

Wenger does need to take his blindfold off but he shouldn't and won't throw half his players overboard. And his recent statements show he is not really disappointed with finishing in the top 4! Maybe that was the minimum target all along. And the title is seen as a bonus. If anything needs to change then it is this Accountant mentality of making good money and balancing the books. Sending half the team packing because we finished ONLY third, that's silly if not sheer madness! Third place is not a great result but it can be much worse! Ask a Newcastle United or a Leeds fan!

      • But to me thats half the bloody problem you seem all to be afraid of doing what needs to be done a very hard prune of the whole squad
Landsbury has done well at watford so maybe thats his level?
we nned a sqaud of 22 first team players Frimpong et al are not in the 22 so what to do keep them for how long in hope they make it ???
Almunia most likly wont stay as Number 2
Vela a striker who scores 1 goal a season???
Simpson has done quite well at QPR well maybe thats his level

Sorry to be Harsh but this is Arsenal we are talking about not any old club we need to prune hard i think and be more ruthless with the pruning
I agree with Nasri and asha if they are committed but neith seem to put a proper shift in to be honest

    • Almunia, Fabianski, Shea agree they can go

Clichy, Traore, Ayling, Hoyte, Cruise i think either or with clichy or trarore not both unless you are going to buy leighton baines?

Nasri, Arshavin, Lansbry, Frimpong, Denilson, Diaby Not landsbury but add rosicky dont think nass or arsh either but if arsh does not start putting in a full shift then yes same as Nasri

Eduardo, Vela, Simpson, Watt, Sunu, Barazite Edwardo I think we should send him out of a six month loan deal to an easier league to get him mentally better change of scenery then bring him back and see if he freezes mentally (if he got on ok b4 return) they we and he knows what is best for him

    • I still think Shava can and will do better...and Nasri has been one of our best performers this season.

Why Watt and Simpson? Both have proved themselves in the reserves and deserve a crack at the first team.

Merida (95% certain), Gallas, Clichy, Bazarite, Sol and Eduardo are all major doubts for next season no matter what AW does.

Otherwise I agree with that list.

    • First you need rid of Wenger, because rest assured, NONE of what you have mentioned needed will happen whilst he still (wait for it...) 'believes' in them.

      He just doesn't 'see it'.
