    8 Games & £40k

    Is this enough?

Suarez has been found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra.

His punishment (subject to appeal) is an eight game ban and a fine for £40k.

In my view, the financial aspect is way too light. I believe it should equal one months salary, with the money being paid to an anti-racial charity, NOT the FA.

An eight game ban is about right, considering it is not only the player that is being punished, but mainly the club in this aspect.

    Any other views?

    • My understanding of the situation is this Suarez made a written statement in which he detailed what he said
which it is said that in writing he called Evra a "nigger"
he is trying to get us to belive this is not considered a racist remark in his home land

That is fine as it stands but he has been playing in Europe (Holland) for the last 4 yrs and Ron Atkinson lost a pretty lucrative job over calling desailly a lazy N

The only thing i find a bit of a problem is the fact that this seems to happen to Mr Evra more than any other Player so he must say equally offencive things i would assume the 3 other cases were not proven and one was he (Evra) not charged with bring a frivolous charge
      the chlsea ground staff incedent?

Another question in my mind is why are the FA keeping a paultry fine? (40K to a guy earning what 90+ a week is just a nat bite to my mind) but should the money not go to an anti racist charity not the FA coffers?

    • "It surely must have been one mans word against another, and in my book they both should have gone out somewhere and sorted it like men"

What don't you understand this time Dodge?

Do you just read the headline and make up an opinion based on the outline information?

      Read this:-

Luis Suarez prepared a statement, detailing what he said and cited his lack of understanding and education as reason for him using the words without considering their effect.

      Basically, he admitted, in writing.

Aside form this, what do you suggest they do to sort out their problems? A back alley Fist fight?

FFS you're such a knob. You never fail to show yourself up for the uneducated mongrel you must be.

    • Dodge-

''my book they both should have gone out somewhere and sorted it like men''

My question is where do men go? and how do they sort things out?

      COYS- I'm sure you agree~!

Alison Saunders, Chief Crown Prosecutor for London said:

“I have today advised the Metropolitan Police Service that John Terry should be prosecuted for a racially aggravated public order offence following comments allegedly made during a Premier League football match between Queen’s Park Rangers and Chelsea on 23 October 2011.

“The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and after careful consideration of all the evidence, I am satisfied there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute this case.

“Mr Terry will appear before West London Magistrates’ Court on 1 February 2012.

“He is now summonsed with a criminal offence and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that nothing should be reported which could prejudice his trial.”

      BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The details of the charge are:

On 23rd October 2011 at Loftus Road Stadium, London W12 you used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress which was racially aggravated in accordance with section 28 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. Contrary to section 31 (1) (c) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998

    • Great news for Arsenal since Livepool are not the same without him. It would be like us playing without RVP for 8 games. This could help us a lot in the battle for 4th.

As to the question if the punishment fits the crime, I'm sure there will be 1000 different view points, to me this is not about the money and an 8 game suspension should be a big deterent for any player and club.

      Are there precedents for this?

      • Am I mistaken in understanding that no one other then Evra heard these comments?

If this is the case I want all the PL white players to claim that all the black players of Utd, City, Chelsea, Spuds and Liverpool called them white Bastards and all the Black players to say the same about the white players of those teams too!

If this is the case then brilliant, Arsenal can win the league.

If he (Suarez) is really guilty then the time fits the crime but without a third person hearing the comments or Suarez owning up to it then how do we really know if Evra is telling the truth?

I haven't heard the full facts but this could open up a hole can of worms.

There is no place for racism in society nor sport but I wouldn't want to see the race card being played by people to gain an advantage.

P.S How long should Terry be banned for (8 weeks for racial abuse and 8 weeks for shagging his best mates bird)

    • Not about being 'sensitive'.

      It is about hypocrisy.

A 'racist' is a 'racist' no matter what the race surely?

    • I think Evra is far too sensitive and the times likewise.

He is, after all, a 'little black man'.
