    New Order

    Just a thought.

Man City great squad may have their wings clipped in improving their squad further by new financial rules.
For similar reasons I see Spurs and Chelsea struggling. Spurs will probably buy Adebayor and need to find replace in central defence for Gallas, King and Nelson. Chelsea need wholesale changes which would mean breaking the financial fair play rules.
    Liverpool are way short.
That leaves Utd as the main competition, even there we have reason to be positive. Yes they have a good squad, but they have alot of players the wrong side of 30 who are in decline or ready to retire, and certainly have little resell value. Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Scholes, Giggs, Park, Carrick, Berba and Owen are all likely to be less effective as time marches on. Add to that Utd don't have a cash mountain to dip into check out their accounts.
Then we look at Arsenal, it is clear that when fit we are not far off the pace. We do need strengthening but have money to do so out of profits. We also have players to sell like Bendtner, Vela, Arshavin and Denilson. Add to that promising youngsters like Coquelin, Frimpong, Miquel, Yennaris, Afobe, Aneke and Campbell. So lets be positive about our prospects.

    • There are a lot of positives about our club Andy, but there still are a number of issues that they need to deal with in order to remain in the top order of world football.

      1. Signings. We need to show we can not only compete to sign, but also retain those we need to.

      2. Sponsorships. We need to make sure we are strong enough to attract the best sponsorship deals to make us not only commercially better, but also more profitable to be able to compete.

      3. Silverware. To do the other two, we need to get back to a winning mentality, and get some silverware. We have until 2014, when the sponsorships are up for renewal. Using the profit, we need to buy to win, not just plan for the future.

      • Quality big name players do attract sponsors wich enables clubs to compete for better players and obvioulsy titles.
This often spirals out of control financialy but I couldn't see that happening at Arsenal, we just need some quality experienced players which would also help with the younger players developing quicker.

Arsenal has the nucleus of a very good team but lacks quality and experience in depth, which we should buy in this summer.

Arsen has admitted to this in a round about way so if he doesn't do something about it this summer he will be asked questions and rightly so.

CL is obviously a dream for any club but priority next season must be the PL above all else and we need to build a team to challenge City and Utd as they will strengthen again this summer.

      • John I agree, but believe we will strengthen. John what were the seven lean years followed by? Yep my faith was shaken too the summer transfer window was mental. But we have a talented core of players. And actually we have the money from profits and future players sales Vela, Bendtner, Arshavin and Denilson to bring in real quality. Ofcourse it still needs to happen, but the years of plenty should be just over the horizon. Enjoy the ride.
