    VIEIRA.....Arsenal BETTER than INVINCIBLES!

Vieira reckons Arsene Wenger’s Gunners have played better football in recent years than his unbeatable band of brothers from 2003-04.

That is why France legend Vieira is backing the current Arsenal side to finally end the eight-year trophy drought at the Emirates — and sooner rather than later.

Vieira said: “I believe Arsenal, on a good day when they have all their players fit and in form, CAN BEAT ANYONE. EVEN THE VERY BEST TEAMS IN THE WORLD.

“OK, right now they lack the consistency to win the Premier League title. But they have good players, VERY GOOD PLAYERS

“And if you look at Arsenal in the last few years thenI THINK THEY HAVE PLAYED BETTER FOOTBALL THAN WE DID in 2003-04. For me they are definitely better to watch as a team but we were stronger, had physical presence and more experience.

“In terms of quality, though, they have a lot of quality there. ENOUGH QUALITY TO WIN something.”

Ex-Gunners skipper Vieira also reckons Wenger is the ideal manager to groom this current crop of youngsters into winners at last.

And he speaks from experience, having arrived in North London in 1996 before leaving nine years later with three league crowns and four FA Cups to his name.

Vieira recalled: “I spent nine years with Arsene and I really enjoyed my time at Arsenal. What I loved about him was that he made me understand the mistakes I made.

“He made me grow up, as a player and person. So Arsenal is where I changed from a boy into a man.

“That’s Arsene — he is so close with his players and that is good.

“For me he was THE BEST MANAGER OF ALL. It’s true that from the age of 20 to 29 I played my best football.”

That is why Vieira STAUNCHLY DEFENDS his fellow Frenchman against those calling for his head after such a long barren run.

He added: “The unique situation with Arsenal is that you have to judge what Arsene has done for them in the last 17 years.

“It is amazing. He has TOTALLY TRANSFORMED the club over the last 17 years but the only way to keep the fans happy is to win silverware.

“Arsene will deal with that, though. I’m VERY CONFIDENT of that.”

      much smurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg love

      LMFAO

      eh eh?

    • OK, I'm up for the challenge:

Vieira said: “I believe Arsenal, on a good day when they have all their players fit and in form, CAN BEAT ANYONE. EVEN THE VERY BEST TEAMS IN THE WORLD.

      - And the evidence for this is? Knocked out by Barca and Milan in the last two Champs Leagues. Beaten 8-2 by United last season. 1 point from 5 games against the top 3 sides. Erm....Patrick?

“OK, right now they lack the consistency to win the Premier League title. But they have good players, VERY GOOD PLAYERS

“And if you look at Arsenal in the last few years thenI THINK THEY HAVE PLAYED BETTER FOOTBALL THAN WE DID in 2003-04. For me they are definitely better to watch as a team but we were stronger, had physical presence and more experience.

      - Lack the consistency to win the Premiership? Better football than was played by the Invincibles? Thierry vs Theo. Adams vs. Vermaelen. Campbell vs. Koscielny. Vieira vs. Arteta. Rosicky vs. Pires. Cole vs. Gibbs. Fabregas vs. Cazorla. Bergkamp vs. Giroud. Etc, etc.

Cazorla, Wilshire, Sagna (until recently), Szchesny (gave up on the spelling), Vermaelen (inconsistent) are good players, the first two VERY good, but world class? Jack has the potential, but is held back by the dross he is surrounded with.

Zero games lost against 6 already this season and never in the top 2? World class players leaving every year rather than staying at the club?

Have a YouTube fesy of the feast of football served up by the 2003-2004 team vs the sideways passing and ineffective attacking, plus inept defending when under serious pressure of the current team.

      Really Patrick?

“In terms of quality, though, they have a lot of quality there. ENOUGH QUALITY TO WIN something.”

      Really?

Out to Bradford in the League Cup. TWENTY ONE POINTS off the top of the table and ELEVEN off of 3rd place. Beaten comprehensively by quality sides in the Champions League to go out every year. Oh, we are still in the FA Cup, if we win that it will surely top the unbeaten season right, thereby justifying his earlier statement of the current team being better than The Invincibles.

What the fuck has he been smoking?

    • Outstanding posts and comments from both Fab and Rad. And what can you expect from something calling itself 'Corn'??
      Says it all.
Anyway Viera makes a fair assessment I think. Well better than 'corn' wasn't it?

    • How long was that post, Pixie??!?!?

      WOUND UP MUCH?!

      Hahahahaa!!!

All you've proved is what a desperate, illiterate chimp you really are!

Cos Vieira's really saying that this team is better than the all-conquering Invincibles, right?

This is almost as funny as your Metro/Phibbers/Youtube/Ebay bummings...

      But not quite!

      MUCH LOVE xxx

      • I think again its a positive statement from a former player who has no need to say such positive things other than he values Wenger and what he did for him. If you actually read what he is saying then yes I think we do play better football in general, we dont give it away as much as we did, we play for possesion now much more than we did with the invincibles. The diff being is the invincibles (as Viera says) were more mature and stronger. Mentally they were better but in terms of tactics I think we have an element better than they did. A few better players in 3 positions and we would be well on our way to being a challenger. We have been in that position for ages now so I dont expect miracles but i do expect an improved financial position in a couple of seasons which can spur us on to getting back to where we were.
